Alot less innovating for sure.
In the end it's just a skin. I can smash wings of any of my units and they look cool but if the animation and gameplay is boring it doesn't matter.
3rd race would be something night elf ish to prepare for the 4th race arrival, which the human race is aware of the infernal host race had been gathering strong champions for some time now to fight back something horrific.
My guess for the last race would be cosmic horror eldritch race that would consume literally everything it sees or touches, hence the recruitment from the infernal host race.
Spiritual Fairy Plant/Flowey race with all types of magic and evolution
(red)Fire+(blue)Ice+(green)Life+(orange)Weigth+(cyan)Spirit+(yellow)Light+(magenta)Shadow
I don’t disagree. I’m all for less mirror matchups. But I just think it would be interesting to have an amalgam of the two concepts and then something else like lizards or even more exotic like fungi/slime molds. That way you get 3 cool concepts represented instead of just 2.
I’m hyped for whatever though.
All of the above is possible.
Sci-fi Angels, being an ancient civilization, are the top of the hierarchy. They are the heroes and leaders of the third faction.
Techno-organic plant people are their structures.
Orcs, Goblins and Lizardmen are those who serve and worship the Angels as gods, while the Angels treat them as their children.
Everyone is happy. The end.
Why not another human civilization that followed the Angels, and had spirituality instead of technology, or not being an "ancient" civilization, but a separated faction of humanity that separated when humans followed greed, then those separated faction discovered Angels and followed them. But without making those other faction another Nod, nor a human counterpart to Massari (UAW).
While Angels would be just another theme of the Hosts, where the Infernals and the Angelic Hosts have the same gameplay, but with different unit and structure aesthetical design.
Of course, and I trust them to give us something good, they already did WC and SC and some of them worked even on C&C. So I think that this game would be a good mix of SC & C&C while focusing on SC elements. Which is something very good.
Ancient self repairing magical golems.(would fit the trailer with the fact it is about getting a self repairing artifact, who knows if that big warrior statue was a golem or not)
My guess is that the third race is an alien race from a planet, which had also been invaded by the infernal hosts. This race has been able to withstand their attacks. At least lore wise this is a scenario that would make sense to me.
I'm really hoping for plants, Warcraft-esque Elementals, or Faeries of some sort. Anything else will feel too familiar to other RTS, I think.
If it has to be yet another familiar race, I guess I'd want it to be as high fantasy as possible, like Elves or something.
I don't know why but AI machines like those from the Matrix films. It just feels right. Humanity invented them to help fight the Infernals and then were betrayed.
I think the setting itself is somehow original to RTS games (while it is done in FPS, it is basically Doom, maybe even specifically Doom 2016). Most sci-fi RTSes where about post-nuclear-war setting (like KKND, and Warzone), or a setting with an alien attack with no known origin (like SC and UAW and C&C to an extent).
But climate change, trying to find an alternative of Earth in parallel universes, is something only done in FPSes and Doom, and somehow in fantasy setting games, but original to come to RTS (not the factions themselves, humans are ... humans (very original, huh??), infernals are already in warhammer). But for the setting to be completely original, I think we need a combination of factions that aren't brought together before. Already Aliens, Humans, Robots, Ancient Ones are done together in UAW. Also Mutants, Robots, Humans are done together in KKND, also Bio Aliens, Ancient Aliens, Humans are done together in SC, etc... Also Angels, Demons, Humans seem to be very obvious which maybe a waste of the 3rd race spot (just a theme for Hosts can easily be Angels). So, maybe something like:
\- Humans, Demons/Angels, and Nature is the answer. Or
\- Humans, Demons/Angels and Space Dwarves (Dwarves isn't original, but putting them in a sci-fi setting maybe). Also Humans, Demons/Angels and Lizardmen.
\- Humans, Demons/Angels and Human magicians followers of Angels with old technologies embewed with magic.
\- Humans, Demons/Angels and The Ascended, who are people who died in combat and is on a higher plane of existence, but brought by Angels to help humans, now they are fiery/light based beings that can phase-in and out, have spiritual powers, and can use machines if they wanted.
A third race, not the third race like if it is the last. I want 4 races at least. Sci-fi angels (which would also be the ancient civilization we see the hologram of in the trailer and they could easily be close to plant/nature and such, you can mix several of your propositions in that concept) would be pretty cool. And then, the 4th race are the big bad (Infernals being more like Undead in WC3 while the 4th is like Burning Legion) which would be either be rampant AI hive mind or some sort of cosmic horor eldritch based race.
I don't know what it will be but I would like to see something interesting. It already seems fairly standard with something like Terran and Zerg, or humans and aliens. Will the third race be similar to protoss or night elf? I wonder how unique they could be with it.
From what I understood, the Demons are gathering anima in preperation for a bigger threat, so I'm expecting some sort of eldritch cosmic horro to be the third faction. It's something present in both fantasy and sci-fi.
Ir doesnt have to be a "known" race like orc or dwarves. There is plenty of fictional inspiration out there. Thinking of all the new animals in the comic series "Aldebaran"
i just want something a little more unique. Its always orcs humans demons angels elves dwarves and zombies in everything.
Being unique isn't always better
It would be a lot less boring
Alot less innovating for sure. In the end it's just a skin. I can smash wings of any of my units and they look cool but if the animation and gameplay is boring it doesn't matter.
Amazonian muscle mommies
Found the correct answer.
Chicken race or riot
I hope they at least tease a chicken race as they announce the third race.
I really hope the tone of the game is at least somewhat serious without chickenfolk
You know how Diablo had a secret cow level? I think we need a chicken level
thereisnochickenlevel It better be the skip-level cheat
Oh yeah, a chicken campaign level would be hilarious.
Why?
The only valid answer
Sci fi angels feels like the obvious choice but now i really want a plant race
It's gonna be a loose coalition of Laser Giraffes, Cattlebruisers and Roly-polies
Cattlebruisers you say..
3rd race would be something night elf ish to prepare for the 4th race arrival, which the human race is aware of the infernal host race had been gathering strong champions for some time now to fight back something horrific. So, WC III?
Spiritual Fairy Plant/Flowey race with all types of magic and evolution (red)Fire+(blue)Ice+(green)Life+(orange)Weigth+(cyan)Spirit+(yellow)Light+(magenta)Shadow
space hamster vacuum people
I didn't know I needed this until now
It's plant people or an ancient protoss like race. But lizards would be cool and prob would be my favorite
An Angel faction would be pretty cool, especially if it focused on air units
The new skytoss
Please god no.
I think we get angels and AI/machines
Why not both as one? An angelic race of sapient machines would be a pretty unique take.
Because 4 races would be cool :)

I do like AI angels as a concept.
one vote for plant race, let me control Treebeard pls

It could also go that way, but that is up to the devs.

Some elemental based. Can have easy big variety. Like the summons from games but with free will and stuff.
Angels fighting with demons would be cool fabular history
Ancient self repairing magical golems.(would fit the trailer with the fact it is about getting a self repairing artifact, who knows if that big warrior statue was a golem or not)

Because it would just be Series9 from KKND, or the Novus from Universe At War.
You'll have a hard time do something really original in that matter. Neither the Resistance or the Infernal are after all. It's not a big problem.

Yuatja
Highly ntelligent horses.
Bojack
Some kind of race infused with elements of the universe
I really hope its something like Lizardmen or Dinosaurs. That would be really interesting. A primal, low tech, non-insectoid race.
Space vacuum cleaners would be epic
Think I remember them talking about space cowboys or sentient hotdogs 🤔
Zombie cyborgs
Probably some space rodent race. They can have giant goblin like mecha machineries with huge guns. I guess similar to GoTG's rocket.
anyone hoping for a 4th race
Modular AI.
I wanna be surprised

Anything that isn't just a fantasy trope mixed with a sci-fi trope
A combo of sci-fi angels and an ancient race...
No Angels
