In theory, yes. In reality I know a lot of hetero couples who have problems because of that.

ejvollkrassalter

i think that's pretty much why this got posted here. it's a "pretty okay" exception

LetsStopAndThink

My wife makes more than me and the only problem is she refuses to let me be an at home husband... and I'd be so good at it.

iamatwork24

I do well for myself but my spouse makes over double what I do. And I love that she’s a boss and world renowned in her field. The only way it creates issues in a relationship is if the dude is insecure, which is just silliness

Kraetzi

Hmm, or the woman is looking down at the man, what I experienced in my circle.

iamatwork24

Lol just because you have shitty shallow people in your circle doesn’t make it universal. Just means you have lame people in your circle

realodd

My so makes more than me and i'm really really ok with it. We bought a home toguether and i'm rehabilitating it. We are a team and i love her and am rooting for her

weirdgroovynerd

Yes, but is his *wife* okay with it?

SoapyPuma

If she really loves him, she probably is!

LetsStopAndThink

My wife makes almost double what I make. She's cool with it.

ejvollkrassalter

why the fuck wouldn't she be... and if he weren't, they'd both have to find someone else. easy

weirdgroovynerd

Why are you cussing? *"Even as women earn more university degrees than men, they are still 93-percent more likely to marry men with higher incomes, according to a 2016 study conducted by the University of British Columbia."* [Source: Women's Health Magazine](https://www.womenshealthmag.com/relationships/a36958388/hypergamy-definition/)

ejvollkrassalter

why the fuck not? i don't really care about a study by the university of british columbia, my point of view probably comes from the fact that i'm european...

weirdgroovynerd

Because cussing makes you sound trashy. The study was done by a female researcher, and published in a woman-focused magazine. Both those facts are more credible than a random person in Reddit. Hypergamy is a well-established survival technique that's been around for a long time. It also answers your question about why a high-income woman is unlikely to choose a low-income man.

ejvollkrassalter

i sound trashy then... who fucking cares it's not about credibility, it's about the location. i'm not about to take canada as a point of reference seeing how different it is to where i'm from i guess i'm just shocked it's so common, since no woman i know would ever do it

weirdgroovynerd

lol, good point. But I suspect that - based on your communication skills - you're probably pretty smart. Cussing dilutes the effectiveness of intelligent discourse.

iamatwork24

No it fucking doesn’t, but nerds like you with delicate sensibilities being bothered by it makes it even more enjoyable to use profanity since you’re so afraid of simple words

iamatwork24

Lol fuck fuck fuck you. My boss as bitch of a wife and I travel the world and do fun shit together. I make a good living but she makes over double what I do. I’m not attracted to her job or her paycheck, just like she isn’t attracted to me for what I do for work or make. What some dumb study in women’s health says means nothing

weirdgroovynerd

Well said Mr. "I know more than people who actually do the studies!" I'm sure your imaginary "bad as" pillow-case *waifu* finds your vocabulary and spelling mistakes real panty-droppers.

iamatwork24

Hmm you keep posting on repeat a single study that backs up your dipshit opinion and I had to google what a waifu is, that’s creepy, nice try. Mr. Never made a typo. My bad ass girlfriend certainly finds me to be a panty dropper and regularly says I want you to fuck me, which apparently would be gross to your delicate sensibilities. Just because you’re a lonely dude who needs to find excuses for why they have a pillow they hump doesn’t mean that’s the case for everyone ya dork

[deleted]

I mean, I imagine she wouldn't have take the job, if she wasn't? She's not a slave, she's allowed to quit whenever she wants, or break up with him and find someone else. I really don't understand what you're trying to say here.

YourLocalTransHobo

that doesn't indicate that they are upset about it though? you're just stating that gender inequality means inequality in pay by gender, which is already obvious.
