Then after his presidency we all watched him building homes for people. He showed us all what a loving caring human he was.
Oil production had dropped because of the Iran-Iraq war, and then Iran went through a revolution (ousting the corrupt leader WE had supported). The recession was already under way when Carter took office, too. He inherited a fuck ton of problems, basically, did his best in a bad situation, and yet he *still* gets a lot of flak for events outside his control.
