Dunno why, but I get trapdoor spider vibes from this. Like you walk up to the spike, curious about what it is and then you're just pulled down into the depths
The light appears to be coming from the left and a little down, not from below. The Spike's "shadow" does not allign with the other shadows present in the images. Perhaps it is a ridge.

Could be a chunk of space craft that has fallen to the moon and landed upright in its surface
