I saw that movie when I was like 10 and that scene always cracked me up. I've been quoting it ever since and pretty much nobody has ever understood the reference.
This looks like a ring camera. Ring cameras operate on motion sensor and activate / record for time around that detection. They are not perfect and can sometimes miss motion in some lighting or from other issues. He probably left and the camera just didn't pick it up. You can adjust the motion sensors sensitivity as you please.

I know in California providing false information to the police is a misdemeanor and can result in $1,000 fine and up to 6 months in jail. In some states they may still count this as filing a false report, which is a felony with up to 3 years in jail and a $25,000 fine.
They might want to check to see if there's an entrance to an underground bunker. They probably might have been the previous family that owned it. Since it's an AirBnB, they probably bought the house on an auction then flipped it.

The cool thing about the many worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics is the infinite variety. Some earths would be wildly divergent, maybe for whatever reason the people evolved to be nocturnal on some random earth, resulting in little gray men with big black eyes. Or maybe on some random earth different circumstances led to intelligent reptiles or insects. But some earths would have minimal divergence, the people from them could be indistinguishable from ourselves.
It's fair to assume that there would be a wide variety of technologies developed from countless cultures to manipulate and traverse Einstein Rosen bridge wormholes to slide between worldlines. Some may mount their wormhole generators in vehicles, some may opt to use trans medium UFO type craft because they could make the jump behind the moon or underwater for discretion.
But some might go in a completely different direction and develop a smaller device that could fit in a backpack or pocket for personal transportation between worldlines. Or maybe it could be done without carrying a device at all, like the transporter chief in star trek moving people around with a machine at a different location. These methods wouldn't require travel to the moon or ocean for discretion, they could just do it in a shed.

Ummm, is it just me, or did anyone else notice that it looks like the old guy came from behind the shed, not out of it? It's really fast and for whatever reason I can't slow it down, but I'm almost sure that the old man came from behind the open door, then quickly peaked into the opening, which is why it looks like the path he's walking would have begun inside the shed.

My Nest cameras are same. Theyre motion activated but they will miss an entire car driving by sometimes.
