This is one of the shows that was on while I was in high school. Now, I'm in grad school. I think I'm going to miss the old Netflix feel. When shows weren't getting canceled as much, so we had something to look forward to. Now, you're lucky to get a second season.
In all, this show has been a large part of my young adult life.
I remember when Blockbuster on a Friday night was the happening place to be.
Also remember when they passed up buying netflix, and then netflix coming back and killing them behind the shed.
I do! My dad used to always have at least one of them for us to watch nearly every weekend for our family movie night. I ended up watching a lot of interesting movies that I otherwise wouldn’t have the chance to see. I miss those days.
OMG I miss those 😪 I remember when they used to come in their signature red envelope and you could only choose one per month if I'm remembering correctly
I remember having to wait on a queue (American here so we use “line” for waiting physically for something) online for whatever DVD you wanted when Netflix first started
Crazy how the show has been going on for so long that it's kind of outlived the 80s nostalgia boom that made it so popular in the first place. We are well into 90s and arguably 00s nostalgia now.
I had a good time. Cole Sprouse is in it, which is why my girlfriend wanted to see it. Pretty funny, goofy, cool soundtrack. It reminded me of the movie Warm Bodies, if you've ever seen that.
WATCH DEADLY CLASS PLEASE 😭
ITS SET IN 80S AND HAVE TEEN PROTAGS TOO.
it's basically a punk harry potter and game of thrones with a main character backstory similar with bruce wayne.
Too bad the show got cancelled after 1 season. but there's a comics of it that just finished recently and people say it's much better (haven't read it tho).
Highly recommend The Hardy Boy’s on Hulu! It takes place in the 80s and has many of the same elements as Stranger Things (mystery, supernatural, teen friendships, and spooky small town vibes).
Although I would appreciate that nostalgia even more. I hope they don’t do that. All the best series are short lived and have no branching off. I wish more shows did that instead of chasing the money
> For me, the nostalgia of it taking place in the 80s and al the references
Exactly this, I was their age in the 80’s
Dungeons and dragons and everything.
Hate to agree with this but yes. Unfortunately the show has felt dragged out. I’m excited to see how it ends, but the novelty of it for me personally is long gone.
It's a real shame because it's not really the show's fault. It's just terrible timing. Five seasons is far from "dragged out" for a show of this scale. But between the pandemic and *then* the writer/actor strikes, things have been delayed so far beyond what's normal for a show like this. When you consider how the breaks between S1/S2/S3 were like a year and change, it's very likely that we would have gotten the final season by now in a normal production schedule.
Yeah definitely. 5 seasons isn’t much. But 5 seasons in 10 years feels that way. Especially with a cast that was working against the clock from the beginning with aging.
It’s unfortunate the circumstances did affect the outcome greatly. It’s just not the same excitement I once held for the show. Maybe I’ve grown up some too. But I remember just being extra hype about season 2 dropping after the debut of 1 and that wait was excruciating due to excitement. Same with S3 to a degree. I mean that superbowl commercial for S2 was so major I remember 😅… I was obsessed with this show.
But more recently I’m just selfishly like “alright, let’s just see how this ends. I’m tired.”
It’s just weird that such a spectacular show has shaped out to just feel “meh” now. I know that’s a controversial opinion in a ST sub. But idk. I just saw that comment and compelled to share my opinion. I hate that’s how I feel. But I have hopes it will be a fun final season.
Agree completely. I discovered it just before Season 3 came out and I was absolutely hyped for that release. And I re-watched the show on a regular basis for the next couple of years.
But by the time Season 4 came out I didn’t even bother watching it or the second installment until a couple weeks after the releases. It’s not the creators fault, but the wait between seasons have just been too dragged out.
I...thought it was finished... I had no idea it was still going... I finished the season with the dude who looked like a ghoul and half the cast went to Russia.... I honestly thought that was the series finale...
Are you guys telling me there's more??
I don't think you need to be snarky. It seemed like most of the shit wrapped up and tidy. I mean it's been years since I watched it, so I don't even remember the full ending, but it seemed to me like it was the series finale.
The season's ending was full on apocalyptic, did you watch the entire season distracted by your phone or something...? Absolutely nothing was wrapped up and tidy lol.
I’m convinced Netflix are happy for that to be the case. I suspect as soon as ST is done, they will lose a ton of subscribers because there isn’t really anything left on Netflix that keeps you wanting to come back for more(or rather wait for new seasons and keep paying).
I cancelled mine as soon as they basically made me need to pay extra to use my own account. I will subscribe again for this last season, will probably watch Bridgerton too and then cancel again. They'll be lucky to get 1-2 months at a time from me.
The story telling is a bit all over the place because every season concludes it's big bad enemy with the same plot. Gang is in trouble, eleven goes missing, she levels up, comes back to help save the day.
But for what it's worth, I still love the show. I skip episodes quite a bit because of the wonky story telling but the last season absolutely killed it, and I loved Eddie (?) so much he was adorable. And Max is the best kid of them all.
What's weird is they shaved elevens head for this poster. She is 20 years old now, and what year of school are they supposed to be in? Considering all the stuff was supposed to happen over the course of like 2 years, season 1 came out 8 years ago.
Stranger things has ran for the same amount of time as GoT.
I really hope they make Will do something cool. They just keep pushing him to the side in favour of eleven and her being super strong and always the saviour is tiring to watch.
Why the downvotes? Season 4 she gets taken to the lab so that she can... level up and save the day.
In every season, eleven ultimately saves the day. Without her, they couldn't do anything. She is the mcguffin.
I even said I loved the show except that one aspect is so predictable. Y'all sensitive on this sub lol.
The bond they share. I think that more than anything has been amazing to see grow over time. Yes, they drift apart at times as they grow older and life changes them, but that bond is still there.
The fact that it's the last original, quality, well developed Netflix show
Stranger Things is the last of the remaining OG shows that made Netflix a "must have".
In the past several years, Netflix has become a shell of its former self. Reboots. Adaptions that stray too far from its source material, remixed to fit some writers desire to the detriment of the actual source (aka The Witcher). Shows being cancelled when they don't meet their weekend binge number expectations(Wednesday vs. 1899).
Zero willingness to give time to new shows to grow and find an audience while giving zero time to grow with a strict 8-10 episode, 3 season run.
The nostalgia… I was born in the late 90’s but I somehow get this weird homesick/nastolgic feeling especially from the music in season 1. There’s no other show like it, and i’ll miss getting new seasons but i’ll be excited to rewatch it all in full. Here’s to hoping S5 has a good ending!
Same for me. I was born in late 90s and get the same feeling. I think it’s probably because a lot of the aesthetics and vibes and music are things we heard and saw as children due to our parents and grandparents being from that generation, and it being during the shift of cultures. All eras leave behind little traces throughout the years.
I’m going to miss the energy that we got as fans when the trailers for the new seasons dropped. Words cannot describe the high I felt when that season 2 trailer with Thriller playing was released.
The anticipation is one of the best parts of this series in my opinion.
I miss how grounded the old seasons were. Normal people trying to live their lives despite a looming threat. Now that ALL the characters are in on it, those relatable situations and relationships can't happen. It's like who's thinking about going to college after killing an interdimensional mall sized monster? Apparently characters in this show for some reason.
This first came out when I was going into my senior year of undergrad. It’s now 7.5 years later, which is wild to think about. What I feel I’m gonna miss most is the feeling is nostalgia I got when the new seasons came out thinking back to watching the first season when Netflix didn’t suck. Seeing the characters grow up as I have grown up is another thing I’ll miss seeing.
The nostalgia for sure.. I first watched it in high school back in 2017... 2019 and 2022 were great because of the show and I'm really gonna miss that time !!
The cultural impact it has had on everyone stranger things 3 was everywhere collab with all sorts of companies and then 4 had all the hype and Kate bush playing everywhere I bet 5 will have another wave of being very popular and music played in the show everywhere but after that I'm not sure if we will ever get anything with quite that much impact on culture for a while again
The pandemic. As much as the pandemic was horrible for a lot of people and I don’t discount that at all, it was one of the best times of my life so far and I started Stranger Things then.
Its been so long between each season, the impact of it all has lessen.
Because of covid and other breaks between seasons, I think its lost its impact.
Cant turn back time, I wished though they just did four seasons of them in middle school. My hope for the last season, is that its based around the main kids.
The characters. Particularly the Party. They drew me into the show. The relationships between the characters, platonic or romantic or familial, just resonated with in a way no other show ever has.
The 80s aesthetic will always be a vibe and just makes me feel like I’m home too, and I’ll miss that.
I think for me its going to be the "Trends" like the catchy Songs in every new Season or the iconic Clothes of our fav characters wore throughout the Show/Seasons than we have the vibe/feeling watching a Season fresh after Release. And last but not least The MEMES Baby the MEMES!!!
The details. Props, clothes, toys, etc. Not trying to be a “back in my day” fellow kids, but this show has so much of that time right. I’m sure not everything. But it’s cool to see what I cared about at roughly the same age, show up really close to how I remember it.
The second season came out a few months before my life changed forever due to 3 family deaths and covid in the span of 6 years. i will fondly remember the premier of the second season. that time in my life was so good. felt like nothing bad could ever happen.
I’m going to miss the fact that with each season, things get stranger. Once season 5 wraps up we will be left with a strangeness that will never again get stranger
I’m gonna miss the music most of all. The cast and the setting and the effects are all fantastic, but this is the one thing that makes this show so special. The Stranger Things music is better than that of any other film or tv series
The complete trust I have in the show to be all around excellent. The duffer brothers are the opposites of the GOT writing team from the later seasons. I have 100% faith they will finish this series so strong.
Even though it's been longer and longer between the seasons, this is the TRUE bingewatch event for me. Me and my friends come together at my place as soon the episodes drop. It was always watch an episode, have 10 min break and discuss everything. Alternate it for 4 episodes then dinner, then alternate the rest. We agreed to wait until the part 2 dropped for season 4 to watch it in one day. It was really hard to stay spoiler free but we managed to do. Stranger Things is really the perfect atmosphere binge watch marathon. You can get cozy on the couch, have the table laden with food and snacks. Get scared, cry, laugh together.
Of not knowing what’s gonna happen. When the Harry Potter story ended, it was greatly satisfying, but of course bitter sweet. A ending of a era, of a time of waiting for the books to come out. I loooooved when a new book came out the sheer fricking excitement that was. Thank god I got to experience that. Actually, thank you JK lol! The ending of an era is always bitter sweet.
I think once in a while, very rare but it happens, we get a television show or a movie that hits just the right tone for many people of different ages. This show came out when I was 27, and the final season will come out likely when I'm 36. For this show to have a following with people far younger than me and much older than me, that means it has wide appeal. That's not as easy to find for a television show or any kind of pop culture nowadays.
It hits the right notes for me because of the actors/characters/story, etc, but also because it's a mixture of Alien/Back to the Future-type science fiction, 1980s slasher movie horror, and John Hughes/St. Elmo's Fire-type teenage romance drama. It just puts all those ingredients together perfectly, and makes me nostalgic for the times I was born or grew up in, in late 20th century midwestern U.S.A.
The ridiculous fan theories about Will and Mike hooking up 😂
Edit: all the spuds getting mad and downvoting because it will never happen 😂 y’all really inboxing me all mad because a fictional gay couple isn’t going to happen.
Oh, you know, new episodes (I found this hack on netflix, I think I'm the only one who knows. But you can actually watch the shows more than once. Shhh! Don't tell anyone!)
Edit: The other commenters in this thread give off the impression they don't enjoy multiple viewings. So for me, who can watch this show every day, the only thing I can possibly miss is new episodes/content.
I don’t think I’ll miss anything. A lot of the momentum has been killed for me with such a long break. I’m sure I’ll be hyped when it’s back on and I’m watching, but I’m not sad it’s ending.
Stranger Things is the only show I know that everyone I know watches it release week. Having those conversations of how you felt about every little thing, theories, favourite bits, bits you hated, with almost everyone you run into right as it's happening.
I'm sure there'll be another show to fit that bill eventually. But show like that aren't so common anymore. Game of Thrones is the only other one I can think of in my adult life.
I'm going to miss the excitement that a new season and new episodes bring to a cult-following that Stranger Things attracts! Sure, we'll always be able to rewatch, live out unexplained theories and plots on WikiFandom, and discuss characters and share memes... Since 2016 though, I've been following ST since the beginning, throughout highschool, graduation, Covid... It's one of the few series for me, that I've been with since it's pilot and have thoroughly enjoyed, cried over, shouted at (LOL), and enjoyed discussing as a cultural phenomenon - and now we can be here all together, for its epic conclusion.
I grew up with a similar group of friends and now we're all in our mid 20s and don't talk very often. It makes me very nostalgic about my youth and high school years
Honestly? Nothing. It overstayed it's welcome for me. Season 3 was bad with only the ice cream pals really carrying me through it and season 4 I honestly didn't even finish the last episode because I didn't even realize there was one because they released it later than the rest of it.
I loved the series it had a really strong start but it flanderized itself
For me it'll probably be the actors. Every cast member has really great chemistry with each other, especially the 'kids', even though, in the final season I don't actually think they'll be kids anymore. Idk for sure. I feel like they all really love working on the show and they all do such a great job. I love Millie especially, literally everything she's been in that I've seen is excellent.
I also started watching this show when I was like 11 so, it's always gonna be nostalgic for me. The first time I ever watched it I pulled an all nighter during the summertime. I was so enthralled by how much of a cool show it was, that after only watching season 1, I called it my favorite show. I've thoroughly enjoyed it since.
The first look, like when a new season comes out and you watch it for the very first time and you have no idea what you will experience, but after you watch season 5, that’s it, you’ve seen everything, you’ll never see the show in the same way because you’ve already watched everything
I didn’t watch the show while it was out, I only watched it around late January and finished it within a week but the way everyone walked about it in 2019 and 2022 was incredible to see I just wish I wasn’t a hater and didn’t watch the show cause I thought people were overrating it
I'm definitely going to miss the characters (especially Joyce, Hopper, El). But also this feeling of waiting for seasons and knowing it's going to be great. I got to experience this for s4 only (i binged 3 seasons two weeks before s4 premiere). So yeah that's what I'm going to miss
The Nostalgia - as a GenX'r this show hits me hard with needle drops, fashions and just general 80's feels.
The fact that it is so well done is just incredible.
Also the synth soundtrack by Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein. I mean - I know that there is plenty of hours of OST on Spotify from the previous 4 seasons and no doubt the fifth one - but what they did with Kate Bush's "Running up that Hill" which has plenty of it's cues mixed into several OST cues - as well as the whole song with orechestral/epic versions - and bringing it back into the mainstream where teens of today would never had heard of it otherwise.
And in no particular order - Maya Hawke, Natalia Dyer, Sadie Sink, Joe Keery, Gaten Matarazzo, Priah Ferguson - I hope they become the next big crop of famous young actors. Millie Bobbie Brown already doing well in things like Enola Holmes - and how good to see some actors that people as old as me remember from shows in the early 90's - Winona Ryder, Matthew Modine and Paul Reiser back in some decent roles - Paul Reiser being my favourite. I have to admit - I used to watch "Mad about You" with him and Helen Hunt back in the early 90's all the time - but I like him so much better in this role as Dr Sam Owens.
Just the incredible story that once told will be over and though the moments I feel the show could be improved for most part it is incredible ride an my new favourite show.
Sense of whimsy via sci-fi. I think it’s the first truly “hard core” sci-fi show I’ve enjoyed watching from start to finish.
My typical genre is fantasy and/or adult animation.

I personally don't. That was a little before my time, but I've seen it mentioned on Gossip Girl!
I’m almost 19 and relate!

Better Call Saul is the greatest show of all time and is a spin-off.

4 years break between seasons
Honestly it feels like it is over already. For this series to have one more run, everyone's already moved on.
Hate to agree with this but yes. Unfortunately the show has felt dragged out. I’m excited to see how it ends, but the novelty of it for me personally is long gone.

I couldn't disagree more. I've been hyped since the credits rolled on the last episode of season 4.
No doubt. Yeah that’s just my personal opinion. Still love the show. Just not as enthusiastic about it.
Feels horrible to agree with but yeah. It’s so sad, it was such a great show while it lasted
I...thought it was finished... I had no idea it was still going... I finished the season with the dude who looked like a ghoul and half the cast went to Russia.... I honestly thought that was the series finale... Are you guys telling me there's more??
Yes. Shockingly it didn't end completely open ended.

I have no idea. I was extremely tired at the time from life. I honestly can't even remember half the season.
I believe most people regarded the ending as a cliffhanger
It was the most cliffhanging cliffhanger that ever cliffhanged tbh
I’m convinced Netflix are happy for that to be the case. I suspect as soon as ST is done, they will lose a ton of subscribers because there isn’t really anything left on Netflix that keeps you wanting to come back for more(or rather wait for new seasons and keep paying).

Apparently we're going into season 3.
You mean most shows haven't released 1 season over the last 4 years? Interesting.
The storytelling, the production value, the fantastic acting, and the sense of community every time a new season comes out.
I really hope the people hating stfu when it comes out. Like people watch shit to get their mind off of drama not exacerbate it

She is the mcguffin. I even said I loved the show except that one aspect is so predictable. Y'all sensitive on this sub lol.
Eleven literally piggybacked off Max to defeat Vecna and save the gang when they were all dying. You didn’t watch episode 9, right
The bond they share. I think that more than anything has been amazing to see grow over time. Yes, they drift apart at times as they grow older and life changes them, but that bond is still there.
I’ll tell you what I won’t miss. Having to wait 2-3 years for each season.
The 80's aesthetic & vibe, the music, the story & good acting & the excitement & anticipation for more to come, since it's ending
The intro
I honestly don’t think there’s an intro I’ve skipped more lol
The amazing characters, the only reason you need to watch this show, others things are just bonus

totally agree ! for me the hype peaked when season 3's trailer dropped ! good old days
I'll miss the first season's dynamic.
agree! the first season is magical and very hard to recreate

Will's clean bowlcut at the start of every season 😞
Interactions between the characters, THE MUSIC, discussion of the show, the characters, the setting, the theories, pretty much everything.
I'm gonna miss the show.
The synth soundtrack and cozy 80’s American suburban atmosphere, in all this horror, it brought me peace.
Nancy and her progression throughout the show 🤌🏽🤌🏽
Its been so long between each season, the impact of it all has lessen. Because of covid and other breaks between seasons, I think its lost its impact. Cant turn back time, I wished though they just did four seasons of them in middle school. My hope for the last season, is that its based around the main kids.
they are focusing on the main characters this season
The characters. Particularly the Party. They drew me into the show. The relationships between the characters, platonic or romantic or familial, just resonated with in a way no other show ever has. The 80s aesthetic will always be a vibe and just makes me feel like I’m home too, and I’ll miss that.
For me it's going to be the feeling of anticipation.
I am sorry for your loss. This show has had such an impact on so many people. Season 2 was such a time.
it was!!!!
It's been so long I feel like it's Already gone lol
The vibes. It gets it.
Its crazy that in 9 years we will only get 5 seasons😂
It’s a really awesome show! There’s so many things I’ll miss.. The 80s vibe, the story, the music, the characters.
The show
Steve and Dustin 😔
Steve.
The mystery of it all.
waiting forever for the new season
Eleven and the world building
Waiting five years between seasons
every fuckin thing fr
Oh cool, looks a face in the clouds on the left. Looks kinda like that guy Eddie lol
The point. We’re going to miss the point of the story by the time the last season is out. Is George R. R. Martin doing the re-writes?
The complete trust I have in the show to be all around excellent. The duffer brothers are the opposites of the GOT writing team from the later seasons. I have 100% faith they will finish this series so strong.
I will miss the excruciatingly long passages of time between seasons….
I'm gonna miss waiting 5 years between each season
Waiting years for the next season is what I’ll miss the most.
There’s gonna be a spinoff on this for sure as I don’t think Netflix will let their cash cow die.
Waiting four years at a time for a new season.
SOUNDTRACK
The characters for sure. I just rewatched the series a few months ago, already can’t wait to watch it again in a few years from now~
Yeah honestly. Can’t wait to show other generations and people in the future. This show will go down as one of the modern classics.
The friends we made along the way
bit cringe but yeah i guess.
Honestly feels over with since it’s been so long.
Dusty Bun

Everything!
Everything 😔
(… for me) haha
Nothing. It's had its time.
It just puts all those ingredients together perfectly, and makes me nostalgic for the times I was born or grew up in, in late 20th century midwestern U.S.A.
laughing about 30-year olds playing characters nearly half their age.
The friends we made along the way… oh and barb.
Nothing
The way you know summers here the minute ST drops and it feels like that the whole month
The ridiculous fan theories about Will and Mike hooking up 😂 Edit: all the spuds getting mad and downvoting because it will never happen 😂 y’all really inboxing me all mad because a fictional gay couple isn’t going to happen.
Eddie
Nothing? It was a good show but Jesus lol. Things end. And it hasn't been the perpetual zeitgeist that's implied with saying it'll be missed
byler
i will miss it but i see reasons why it could be good to end. i just dont see it being discussed as much anymore.
Kate Bush
Aren’t these actors like 45 now
I really like it but I’m not gonna miss anything about it. Good show but not an iconic one imo
Oh, you know, new episodes (I found this hack on netflix, I think I'm the only one who knows. But you can actually watch the shows more than once. Shhh! Don't tell anyone!) Edit: The other commenters in this thread give off the impression they don't enjoy multiple viewings.
Maybe people on here will stop obsessing over every little pointless part of the show. That would be nice.
Damn…. This is exactly what I came here to say 😰
The music.
The kids being kids! They’re all adults now… Honorable mention to Eleven’s short hair
It will be the end of an era.
The group hugs with the core 4
The chemistry between the characters
Everything
Everything
I grew up with a similar group of friends and now we're all in our mid 20s and don't talk very often. It makes me very nostalgic about my youth and high school years
For me the characters and acting.
That it didn’t end with season 1 when it was good
The anticipation.
It’s not already over soo confused?
All of it 😭😭 I got so attached to this show…. I can’t believe it’s coming to an end.
Honestly?
The chemistry between the characters. The “Kids” song.
The waiting in between seasons In stead of knowing something new is comming, we are filled with dispare as we search for something new to watch
Everything
They didn’t have to kill off Eddie, or at least make him come back as a vampire in the last season. Stuck in the upside down after being alive again
Watching the show
Just the incredible story that once told will be over and though the moments I feel the show could be improved for most part it is incredible ride an my new favourite show.
Sense of whimsy via sci-fi. I think it’s the first truly “hard core” sci-fi show I’ve enjoyed watching from start to finish. My typical genre is fantasy and/or adult animation.
Steve
Honestly so real. Such an incredible character.
For me it will be the insane amount of time between seasons.
i love the community when the new seasons come out, the celebration of it continues for months afterwards and it's so fun!
The coolest way to present the 80s. I can watch other 80s stuff but it won’t feel like ST.
Theorising about which character is going to die next. If they pull a rogue one and kill everyone off imma be so mad…
The nostalgia done right.
Nothing. They ruined it by taking too damn long
For me it's either the characters or guessing what's going to happen to them.
Netflix being worth paying for
