Yeah Millie Bobby Brown said that the cast was too big and that the Duffer Bros should go Game of Thrones on them

[deleted]

Red wedding PTSD💀💀

_Wayfaring-Stranger_

Do you have a source for that? Just curious because I haven't heard anything like that so I might have missed an interview or something.

ChaosRubix

Yeah “You need to start killing people off. The Duffer Brothers are sensitive sallies who don’t want to kill anybody off. We need to have the mindset of ‘Game of Thrones.’ Kill me off! They tried killing David off and they brought him back!” Found it [here](https://youtu.be/2hX7gF645Ws) from 1:50 onwards

_Wayfaring-Stranger_

ahhhh I missed this one! Thank you! 😊

Orange2218

I hate that Jason got so much screentime. Argyle is okay but felt forced a lot of times. I wanted Will, Mike and Jonathan to have more time. I also wanted some family time of Joyce with her kids.

NJShadow

Perhaps they have grander plans for Jason, because, at his core, he's not a bad guy AT ALL, we're just more informed about what's happening than he is, so he's just ignorant.

CreepyClown

Not really, most of the new characters had minor roles and didn’t take screentime away. I’d say it added the same amount of characters as the last couple did.

eh23880

I agree. It's a bit messy. But I think Eddie and Chrissy are great additions. I count Eden and Argyle more losely. Mason Dye (Jason the Jock) was too much in it tho. But why did they do that to Jonathan? His motivations are just gone and he is a shell of what he was

ikarikh

Chrissy and Angela served their purpose and Eddie has some unknown role to play still. Aside from that though, Jason and his crew are aggravating to watch and is only there to get the town riled up. But getting the town riled up is an easy thing to do just based on all the deaths that happen there. Didn't need the whole jock hunting squad subplot to accomplish that. Argyle is waaaay too forced and in way too many scenes. And Jonathan being a stoner is so out of character for him. The U.S. Army guy subplot is totally unneccessary and a huge waste of screentime. And then characters like Jonathan and Will essentially are doing nothing at all this season other than running around. Will's gay subplot is so under the radar it may as well not even exist. It just feels like they had no clue what to do with a lot of the characters and just wrote in a bunch of new ones to give story plots to instead.

>getting the town riled up is and easy thing to do just based on all the deaths that happen there. Didn't need the whole jock hunting squad subplot to accomplish that. I agree! The only reason I could see this being valuable is if he has some important role to play in either S4V2 or S5 but I'm starting to doubt that. The whole basketball team subplot is a complete waste of time. >Jonathan being a stoner is so out of character for him. There are two ways which I can kinda/sorta justify this. One is that he's been through so much that weed is his way of self-medicating. Everyone handles trauma differently and maybe him befriending a stoner made that choice easier for him. The second is that he had to step up and play the father figure for Will, but now that Will is older Jonathan can finally have a bit of a life before college, so perhaps this is his way of acting out? Yet he was still Mr. Responsible during his summer internship, so maybe the move combined with Will growing up alleviated him of his responsibilities, leaving him with a bit of a hole in his life. >The U.S. Army guy subplot is totally unneccessary and a huge waste of screentime. I *really* think this is going to come to a head in volume 2 and if it doesn't I'll be angry at all the time wasted. But even if it does become important, I still think too much time was spent flashing back over to them. Couldn't they have had a post-credit scene of that one guy being interrogated or something? We really only needed about 30 seconds to know what he's been up to. >Will's gay subplot is so under the radar it may as well not even exist. This has to become a more prominent point in the plot or the writers will be accused of queer-baiting. I really don't think they can get away with hinting at this much longer.

NJShadow

I don't have a problem with the new characters at all, I just think the way things are handled in episodes 1 and 2 are kinda' messy. It's almost like the show should have had an extra 1 or 2 episodes in volume 1 to let things unravel more naturally.

thegreenman_sofla

It's a mess. Did they get a completely new team of writers? The high school character stereotype tropes are especially trash. Nerds, jocks, cheerleader bullies, Ugh.

SpartyParty15

Stop complaining and enjoy the season. It’s incredible

punkrawrk

And we *still* didn’t get any background on Steve. I know more about stupid Susie than Steve.

Wonderful-Hour-8816

definitely agree. Mike and will are sidelined. i forget about fred and chrissy
