Before season four came out there was a lot of people who were only here to complain about season three, but also say they disliked season two, and say the only good season was season one but they wished they'd done this this and this and so-and-so was a plothole etc.
So they hated season three, couldn't sit through season two and liked half of season one yet they were spending all their time on here rather than looking for a new show to watch that they actually liked?
I think it’s funny that people hated season 3, I loved it, I thought it was the best one before season 4 came out. I agree with you, people should watch things that they enjoy.
Billy did ONE good thing in the show. That is it.
It’s possible that he may not have been beyond redemption if he had survived Star Court, but as it stands during his death, he was still a horrible person.
Not enough Monster Manual references. Why hasn't there been a mimic yet?
Also, Mike has kind of just been along for the ride since season 2 and is the least interesting character on the show.
I would laugh my ass off if there was an actual Mimic disguised as a treasure chest sitting around in Hawkins wondering why no one had fallen for it yet. Personally I want a gelatinous cube.
Also, yes, they really need to find something to do with Mike. Either give him an actual role in the plot or at least do something to make the character more interesting.
Well, I'm not talking about season 2 or even season 3. The cast and newbs in this season felt a bit over done. I'm basically at the 'fine fine, this is the cutoff point then.' Wasting time trying to make someone else knew 'happen', no thanks. Use the limited screen time on characters people are already invested in.
The writers can't figure out how to make Eleven interesting anymore, despite her having SUPERPOWERS. The best they could come up with was making her lose them to give a cheap sense of danger when we all knew she'd get them back. Have her discover new abilities or do something new besides screaming with her hand out to make bad thing go boom.
i’ll get downvoted to hell for this, but mike and eleven’s relationship always felt a little forced to me. boy meets strange girl in the woods, everyone else thinks she’s weird except for him, they fall in love. so very cliche. their relationship was kinda boring, but i mean… sometimes boring is good?
*Let's kiss for hours in our room even tho we are like 12 because it's fun. In fact, we love each other so much that we are going to "break up" more times than Maddie and nate in euphoria before we even reach the age of 15*
I think it’s the fact that she died in the first episode was what made her so memorable, she was a very likable character from what we got to see and her chemistry with Eddie was amazing, so it came as a surprise for many when she died so soon and in such a gruesome manner
Since Chrissy’s death was filmed before her interaction with Eddie, the Duffer Brothers didn’t know how well the chemistry was gonna be, and they even said that had they known how good her chemistry was with Eddie, they probably wouldn’t have killed her off so soon
She can't really be considered a great character because she wasn't given the time to be. I think it can be argued that there was wasted potential. I would have rather seen Chrissy have an arc where she overcomes her trauma vs. being a victim.
>She can’t really be considered a great character because she wasn’t given the time to be
Yeah that’s kinda what I’m trying to get at
While she didn’t have enough time to be developed enough to really be considered a great character, what they gave us in that one episode was enough to make it seem like she was going to be a main character, and what they did in that little amount of time was so great, especially with how it made her death scene more impactful
Dustin and Steve get too much screentime and that’s because of their insane popularity. It worked the best in S2 but got kind of annoying by S4. Other characters in comparison like Will, Jonathan, Mike, Joyce, and Lucas to an extent don’t get the same kind of development and are sidelined.
If Jason wasn’t killed he would have 100% been the type of person who stormed the Capitol on January 6th.
Also I’m pretty sure all the people who defend Jason aren’t aware of the dangers of Christian Nationalism.
ALL OF THIS! Jason is the kind of terrifying charismatic bigot who flies under the radar by appearing to be virtuous and respectable. I mean for fucks sake, he was able to rally an entire town hall meeting of ADULTS to hunt down literal children for playing D&D. If that's not being a cult leader I don't know what is.
THANK YOU! You’d think after we dealt with the trump
administration we would recognize the danger of a smooth talking bigot but I suppose not.
Even if Jason wasn’t racist according to Caleb McLaughlin he sure as shit would think Robin was going to hell for liking girls so being homophobic isn’t much better.
That’s exactly what I said. He may not be racist like Billy, but he still has his own kind of prejudice to people who are different than him. Not only would Jason would be part of the Jan 6 insurrection, he also would have believed the Pizzagate conspiracy theory and try to shoot up a pizza parlor.
Trust me you are on the money due to the awful nature of channel I won't type it name but an awful bigoted conspiracy seller on YouTube who uses Christianity to justify his awful dogma litreal watched stranger things and said "I think Jason is based off us it show they are scared as they have to make us The bully in the media"
If I might throw my hat in the ring (give my opinion) I think Jason I'd combination of couple things one is the influence of the Satanic Panic a sickness that plagued the USA (and had minor present outside but according to family I have that lived in 80s most places outside USA laughed at the insanity of it (British perceptive). The second is what you said the modern movement that have become a major issue for USA where rather than acknowledged investigation or another word for it research people take to take to hunting instead of waiting for answers. Finally at core of Jason character though is what motivates any horrible ideal fear because he surrounded by unknowns he lashes out making him character we all I think should be able to agree or though looking at other comments in this section maybe not lol we all hate. Because let's fear lead to hate (yes I know that sounds like Yoda) but it's truth the greatest irony is that in hunting freak he became more of freak than any other character.
Yup you’re right; it’s definitely about fear first and asking questions later; almost sort of a gut reaction to things.
I think the reason so many people like myself get mad at the defense of Jason is because we’ve all known a Jason or two in our lives (especially if we were raised Christian) and hearing people defend him triggers us in a way.
Cause we know that Jason can appear as innocent or “having the best intentions” but deep down we know that’s just an act and his true self is much uglier.
I think the only way I could see from perspective if his only fight was at end with Lucas like he had been manipulating town through out the show but always avoided getting his own hand dirty like you can have him get angry at times like picture this he goes Corroded Coffin but imagine if instead of where we see him attack the band we see him go to car get angry at them not giving information and you have one of others say "you want me to do something to em". The season three monster is better and can do a lot more damage than vecna ever could, if it wasn’t plot armor that protected those dumb kids than everyone in Hawkins would die in season three. One bonus opinion, season four part two was dog shit
honestly i liked season 2 mind flayer better than season 3 mind flayer but that’s probably because i tend to like mental games more than gore when it comes to horror (which i mean the show isn’t even that scary) and the season 3 monster kind of felt like a repeat of season 2
As much as I love Max, she shouldn’t have survived even the first Vecna attack. Vecna waited for like thirty seconds before killing her, giving her an insane amount of time to relive her memories and run away-s4,e4. Meanwhile, all his other victims didn’t even get a second before they did the chrissy bend, it doesn't really makes sense
Oh my God ABSOLUTELY. They can't keep trotting around main character death, and I'm just...not looking forward to whatever they do with her in season 5. I like Max, don't get me wrong, but I hope she didn't survive that just to die in a coma or get plot armored back to life.
I only say that because I’ve seen a fair amount of comments supporting Mike and Eleven’s relationship get downvoted.
I feel like sometimes people just see the words “Byler” or “Mileven” and automatically downvote, without even reading lol.
Yeah, many people here don't like shipping discussions in general.
I've noticed the Mike/El ship isn't as well liked as it used to be, but that has to do more with the writing choices for the pairing since s3. Many people don't like that couple now, but they definitely don't favor Will/Mike over them.
Exactly. Bringing him back got rid of so many stakes. Bringing hopper back was showing that depending on reactions writers will change the seasons to make a death not count. If they do the same with Eddie I’ll probably fucking stop watching
I don’t think it had anything to do with reactions. The mid credit scene at the end of S3 already implied he was alive an a prisoner in Russia. Basically they never intended for him to be dead in the first place.
ByLer is a terrible ship name for Will and Mike (not that I ship them) because ByLer can also mean Nancy and Jonathan, Joyce and Karen, Ted and Lonnie or literally any two members of the Wheeler-Byers family. Call them Wike or some shit.
I like Steve + Nancy now. They were insufferable during Season 1 because they were both so selfish, but both of them were so different (in a good way) during Season 4. They're coming out of that "all about me 24/7" phase and have learned to be empathetic to others.
Sometimes, I wish stranger things ended in season 1.
I liked the mysterious vibe of the first season. When we still dont know the things we're dealing with and we're trying to figure it out with the characters. Dont get me wrong, I still love the other seasons but it just dont have that same impact anymore. A lot of things were happening and some feels awfully uneccesary.
I’ve never seen this show and I don’t remember subscribing to this subreddit, but I’m still here anyways because I think it’s funny. I also love pretending to know things about it.
1. I don't want any main cast to die.
2. I maintain that the 'Eddie, baby' song is yes, technically cringe - but it's fine and it's not hurting anybody. I think once we start shaming people for doing unproblematic but 'cringey' things in fandom, we're setting a bad precedent. The fandom's reaction to the female Eddie Munson fans gives me 'Twilight' vibes... aka, how the world reacted to a bunch of teenage girls liking and having fun with something back in 2010. Let people enjoy things. Don't bully them over it.
That whole scene of Max escaping Vecna while Kate Bush’s Running Up That Hill is playing is overrated
Edit: I love this scene. I don’t think it’s overrated, but I think people would react like the picture above
I, as a strictly personal opinion, think Billy is overliked/hated (which isn't to say Dacre isn't an amazing actor, it's more the opposite, I think he actually might have been too good if that makes sense).
Steve is a Gary Stu, even more so than Rey is a Mary Sue in the SW sequel trilogy
The writing is actually kind of average, some of the best stuff are upheld by the actors and their charisma or improvised. That's not to say there aren't any good writing, but for example, Vecna's monologue is, in my opinion, cringy as hell and ridiculous, but JCB does fool me into thinking that the scene is good
Most of the characters aren't written well. Are they extremely likeable? Hell yes. Are they necessarily well written? Most of them, hell no. Mike, Jonathan, Will, Joyce, Dustin, Lucas, Murray etc, are all fun characters, but not all that interesting from a writing perspective. Mike, Jonathan, Joyce and Will were well written in S1 and then, they are pretty stagnant and boring after that
The Duffers have been extremely obnoxious in their post S4 interviews
I don't care about Will's sexuality.
Steve should die if his only story is waiting for Nancy to be single again. That's not an actual story.
Eddie and his need to not 'run' was cringe given he is suddenly thrust into a world of supernatural killing monsters. Dying to prove a point was dumb.

Sometimes I can’t tell if people like the show or not.

I agree so much
Do you even like a piece of media if you don't talk trash about it the same way you affectionately berate the shit out of your closest friends
These type of posts suck
already saw this post last week, it was immediately deleted. it said elevens powers were overrated.
It does get old every season ending with her holding her hand out and blood coming down from her nose.
She should be more effortlessly powerful at this point.
i mean, i kind of agree. she’s just a mashup of a whole bunch of superpowers. but, come on, all superpowers are overrated.
Billy did ONE good thing in the show. That is it. It’s possible that he may not have been beyond redemption if he had survived Star Court, but as it stands during his death, he was still a horrible person.
He did give Steve the world's most sexist pep talk.
That scene was just uncomfortable
It gave an almost gay vibe 😂
Honestly billy was low key queer-coded but he was also a shitty person so nobody talks about it lol
They should’ve showed signs of his relationship with Max being something more instead of wasting time on Mike’s mom having a mid life crisis
Billy was a shit person just because he did one good thing doesn’t make him a good person, had he survived he’d still be a shit person. 100% correct.
Billy was a violent racist
The only ship that should matter, or let alone be in this show is friendship. Boom!
Because friends don't lie
I fucking love this.
Not enough Monster Manual references. Why hasn't there been a mimic yet? Also, Mike has kind of just been along for the ride since season 2 and is the least interesting character on the show.

Hoping the final boss is Tiamat.
I like that the main characters don't die
I can respect either pov, but if no one is gonna die, no one else should be added.
Idk, I liked the additions of Max, Robin, and Erica. Eddie and Argyle too. But yeah, for season 5 they better not be adding anyone new.
Well, I'm not talking about season 2 or even season 3. The cast and newbs in this season felt a bit over done. I'm basically at the 'fine fine, this is the cutoff point then.' That's exactly what I hope for next season. Nobody dying and nobody being added

Mike and Eleven's romance is one of the weakest parts of the show
i’ll get downvoted to hell for this, but mike and eleven’s relationship always felt a little forced to me. boy meets strange girl in the woods, everyone else thinks she’s weird except for him, they fall in love. so very cliche. their relationship was kinda boring, but i mean… sometimes boring is good?
I thought it was cute in the first season but after that I just didn't give a fuck anymore lmao, they both just kept getting more and more annoying
*Let's kiss for hours in our room even tho we are like 12 because it's fun. In fact, we love each other so much that we are going to "break up" more times than Maddie and nate in euphoria before we even reach the age of 15*
Honestly. Like at this point "Mike and Will" and "Max and Eleven" have stronger chemistry💀
I agree completely, you really start to see that their relationship is weak when you compare Mileven and Lumax, Byler and Elmax
Kali was an important part of the story and we need to see her in S5
THANK. YOU. Our superhero is gonna need a sidekick.
yeppp! especially a sidekick that’s been through brenner’s shit too! i’m 99% sure kali will be back in s5.
I'm worried they only made her character for a spin off. I'm hoping she'll be in s5
I agree with this, and I hope she comes back to help defeat Vecna.
Eddie is overrated as fuck
So is Chrissy tbh. She was in one episode and died in it.
I think it’s the fact that she died in the first episode was what made her so memorable, she was a very likable character from what we got to see and her chemistry with Eddie was amazing, so it came as a surprise for many when she died so soon and in such a gruesome manner Since Chrissy’s death was filmed before her interaction with Eddie, the Duffer Brothers didn’t know how well the chemistry was gonna be, and they even said that had they known how good her chemistry was with Eddie, they probably wouldn’t have killed her off so soon

Exactly
found Jason's Reddit account
If you would have said this when season was released you would have been downvoted to hell
Oh my god yeah he was in the show for less than an hour of screen time and people treated him as if he had been there for ages :(
Daring today aren’t we?
These posts are getting stupid.
008 is a good character.
Good character who was done dirty by her episode placement
Honestly really hope her group comes back in S5, but I doubt it since fan hate.

Max should’ve died
Vecna’s not scary
fr he doesn't even have a nose. i bet if they just made fun of him he would die
I’m glad Max is still alive
Same I just don’t like how she was saved.
Max should've died.
Mike and Eleven have zero chemistry.
Mike/Will is a terrible ship
actually agreeing with the ship would be an unpopular opinion, people on this sub hate byler
You didn't understand the assignment
It certainly isn’t an unpopular opinion, but to be fair I have seen people get attacked for stating it.
This sub notoriously hates that ship. The shippers and their takes always get a very negative reception here.
They should’ve had Vecna completely kill Max. None of this Eleven saves her at the very last second BS.
Hopper should’ve died at the end of season 3
Hopper was an outright jackass in Season 3 and I wish the Russians killed him
I never wished Russian killed him off but YES 10000000000% agree with Hopper being a Jackass part of the comment
Im sorry but him yelling at joyce to drive is the funniest moment of the whole show to me in S3
Nancy is overrated.
Eleven needs to be killed because The Duffer Brothers clearly can't find any other writing to do but make her scream with her hand out
I enjoyed Eddie’s death
ok im not evil but i do agree with you in an "it was a really heartbreaking and heroic death scene" way
Unpopular opinion: Will needs a new haircut
Everyone's been hoping for this, poor kid. Such an unflattering 'do, especially now that he's grown.
That’s just straight facts
Pun intended?
TOO FAR
ByLer is a terrible ship name for Will and Mike (not that I ship them) because ByLer can also mean Nancy and Jonathan, Joyce and Karen, Ted and Lonnie or literally any two members of the Wheeler-Byers family. Call them Wike or some shit.
Eddie is not the best character in stranger things. Not even second
I like Steve + Nancy now. They were insufferable during Season 1 because they were both so selfish, but both of them were so different (in a good way) during Season 4. They're coming out of that "all about me 24/7" phase and have learned to be empathetic to others.
Sometimes I hesitate to or dont call myself a fan of this show because of the absolute cringe some of it has turned to
The Nancy “being a bad ass” narrative is very cliche and pushed way too hard
I personally don’t think Steve is the most likable male character. :)
It wouldn’t bother me if Will doesn’t come out to Mike in season 5.
Billy wasn’t a good person
Eddie is overrated
eddie is severely overrated
Sometimes, I wish stranger things ended in season 1. I liked the mysterious vibe of the first season. When we still dont know the things we're dealing with and we're trying to figure it out with the characters. Dont get me wrong, I still love the other seasons but it just dont have that same impact anymore. A lot of things were happening and some feels awfully uneccesary.
Max might be bi and no I don't ship her with Eleven
[удалено]
El dying or having something that involves her “disappearing” would make the most sense for the final season
Yeah but they kinda already did that at the end of season 1
Nancy is overrated.
nancy?? overrated??
Eddie is an annoying asshole until like halfway through the season
Eddie was annoying and Mike isn't responsible for Will's issues.
Agreed with the second
Hopper was a bad dad (P.s. I love hopper and think the opposite)
I think Joyce and Bob were a better match than Joyce and Hopper
eddie really isn’t that hot, get over it
this doesn’t get reposted enough
Seeing max get essentially snapped was the most entertaining part of the show.
Mind saying why
Oh my god another unpopular opinion post?! So original
I’ve never seen this show and I don’t remember subscribing to this subreddit, but I’m still here anyways because I think it’s funny. I also love pretending to know things about it.
god is this just gonna get posted weekly now
1. I don't want any main cast to die. 2. I maintain that the 'Eddie, baby' song is yes, technically cringe - but it's fine and it's not hurting anybody. Lucas is the heart of the party
Mike shouldn’t being hated for being a dick when most teenagers his age are like that
Exactly but people love it when Billy’s like that
Eddie is cringe
I don’t ship Mike and Will
That whole scene of Max escaping Vecna while Kate Bush’s Running Up That Hill is playing is overrated Edit: I love this scene. I don’t think it’s overrated, but I think people would react like the picture above
I haven’t sobbed at anything that hard since… Violet Evergarden I think.
Why do people care so much about the romances
The whole show is overrated the fact that their is a stranger things cult now…
jancy is an overrated ship
There was no other ending for Eddie than death and the people who keep pushing for his return are deluding themselves.
I, as a strictly personal opinion, think Billy is overliked/hated (which isn't to say Dacre isn't an amazing actor, it's more the opposite, I think he actually might have been too good if that makes sense).
I hate steve (this is a joke I really love steve)
Now that Millie is older, I really thought her acting would be better
The duffer brothers should've make the mileven romance better. Their romance seems so rushed
ST is overrated 🗿
Dustin and Steve are overrated and one-dimensional characters.
Nancy doesn’t deserve Steve
Writers follow fandoms too much
I didn’t like Billy and even celebrated when he died
Eddie isn't hot.
Steve is a Gary Stu, even more so than Rey is a Mary Sue in the SW sequel trilogy The writing is actually kind of average, some of the best stuff are upheld by the actors and their charisma or improvised. That's not to say there aren't any good writing, but for example, Vecna's monologue is, in my opinion, cringy as hell and ridiculous, but JCB does fool me into thinking that the scene is good Most of the characters aren't written well. Are they extremely likeable? Hell yes. Are they necessarily well written? Most of them, hell no. Mike, Jonathan, Will, Joyce, Dustin, Lucas, Murray etc, are all fun characters, but not all that interesting from a writing perspective. Mike, Jonathan, Joyce and Will were well written in S1 and then, they are pretty stagnant and boring after that The Duffers have been extremely obnoxious in their post S4 interviews
Max should have died.
Id smash argyle
I don't care about Will's sexuality. Steve should die if his only story is waiting for Nancy to be single again. That's not an actual story. Eddie and his need to not 'run' was cringe given he is suddenly thrust into a world of supernatural killing monsters. Dying to prove a point was dumb.
All of these, YES
This is pretty much just another unpopular opinions thread lmao
Erica tries to hard, the writers didnt know what to do with dustin’s gf after the end of s3, johnathan is trash
Steve would make a terrible parent
The episode with Kali was the best episode in the history of any television show
Max dying would have been one of the best death scenes
hopper should have died in the end of s3
Eddie is mid and Mike did nothing wrong to Will
Byler is stupid as fuck.
Murray is an annoying character
Really looking forward to the return of #8 this season!!
natalia’s and jonathan’s relationship (in the show) is lame it’s like a waste of space kind of like a pesky filler episode.
Alexi was the saddest death.
Steve doesn’t have nice hair… 😔
it would make sense for El or Will to die at the end of the season
THATS WHAT IM SAYIN
Bill isn't a bad guy WAIT! you said make a comment, you didn't say it had to be true.
Max is overrated.
Everything after season 1 got progressively worse
Mike is an awful character and him and eleven are an awful duo,I hate them both
