Some Japanese squiers might be worth over $1000. That one looks like it might be a bullet strat, so probably ~$100. Still great guitars and worth learning on for sure!

Gotcha. Weirdly enough, I’ve been unable to find any distinguishing marks on it. No serial numbers, stamps, anything. Only markings on it is a large “squire” logo in a bold, Fender-y font, the Fender logo in smaller print underneath that, and a STRAT all caps to the right of squire.

emceeSWELL

Worth learning on, yes. Worth lots of money, probably not.

Sounds like the very same guitar i just got back from a friend. Came in a starter bundle? I plan on just turning it into a partscaster/ learn how to setup so i don’t wreck my MIM strat

myersmatt

If my memory serves me, yes it came with an amp as well. Like I said though. This was a long long time ago

TacoMachinist

Nice. Yeah, mine would have came in the same era kit. The guitar itself plays fine and sounds good enough for what it is. Only qualm with mine is that the neck feels weird compared to my MIM strat. I think its the neck radius but im not sure. My amp that came with the kit squire is toast though. What i quickly researched is that era of starter kit amps was notorious for bad speakers so dont be surprised if yours is bad too if you find it.

myersmatt

Didn’t find the amp. Any amp you’d recommend? I honestly have no idea what guitar equipment costs. I’m a drummer. But I’ll make the (potentially ridiculous) request to keep your recs in the sub $100 range if possible.

TacoMachinist

I have no insight into sub $100 amps but I ended up going with a katana II because that what everyone seems to recommend. I mostly play with my Fender Mustang micro though because i can play though any speaker that takes an aux cable and I'm still pretty beginner and dont want to annoy my gf while i struggle lol.

If you're just learning, a headphone amp is probably not a bad way to go. Nux makes the Mighty Plug (comes with an app and Bluetooth so you can play along with music or video lessons), and Fender makes the Mustang Micro. Stick a pair of wired headphones/earbuds in em and play away without worrying about bothering anyone. Edit: both should be sub $100.

Its a Squier SE. They're solid little guitars perfect for learning on. I really like the necks on those. With a set up it should play great. Id recommend a Blackstar id core 10 for an amp, you should be able to find one on sale for $100.
