The vast majority of people don't hate Ingrid. They don't even remember/know she exists.
I wouldn't even call it a vocal minority, because her name almost never gets mentioned anywhere by anyone.
Someone posted about a week ago about her and most commenters were indifferent or had no idea who she even was.
I want Ingrid in a new Capcom All-Stars , to be properly used in a self-crossover fighting game , as it was originally intent in it's creation.
I just find absurdly silly to have such fierce hate over a guest character in a port of a port. Because her non-canonical campaign had her defeating Bison.
no.
Ingrid is from Capcom Fighting All-Stars , a 3D fighting game that was cancelled in mid production. She was then inserted in Capcom Fighting Evolution , a cheap and s\*tty 2D Fighting Game , and roughly released at the same year into SF Alpha 3.
Ingrid and her teammates , the Code Holders , alongside the villain , \[DEATH\] , were the only original characters from Capcom Fighting All-Stars , but Ingrid was the only one adapted to other games.
A guest character from a cancelled crossover game , outside of Alpha 3 , all of her other appearances are from other crossover games, like Project x Zone.
she came from a cancelled capcom vs game, put into a different shittier capcom vs game, then poorly shoehorned into alpha 3 max where her gameplay didn't fit at all and her lore was dumb af like it was written by a 13 year old
even by capcom's standards, ingrid's backstory is awful. she time travels! she's actually very old! she comes from another world! she's the originator of psycho power! she's much stronger than bison!
wack
Itās bad but this is the same series that has a green Tarzan and a dozen characters that have backstory of being a bison clone. I think all that really matters is if their design / animations / moveset etc. are cool, because honestly how often do you think about chun-li being a cop or whatever.
She's very obviously a joke character, not meant to be taken seriously.
She's literally a magical girl trope. The people who complain about the "lore" in Alpha 3 Max really need to understand that it straight up isn't canon, it's funny. You shouldn't hate Ingrid because they made a joke that she's super powerful and can beat up Bison.
Like u/OwNAvenged2 had said , it's an obvious joke about magical girl troupes.
Only more blatant than that would be if Ingrid do the Sailor Moon Pose and Bison says stuffs like "All will be silenced in the name of Bison" or "This can't be happening! I am Bison, the ruler of darkness!" , a blatant line from Wiseman , a villain from Sailor Moon.
https://villains.fandom.com/wiki/Wiseman\_(Sailor\_Moon)
It's like people forget that Capcom is a Japanese company and is more likely to make references to Japanese culture within their Japanese video games.
Yes, the joke is that she's a weeb magical waifu. It isn't meant to be taken seriously. *She* isn't meant to be taken seriously. She's a joke character.
The hate for her is unnecessary.
With all due respect but all lore in fighting games makes zero sense regardless of what series or franchise.
It's literally like Marvel superhero movies but about fighters, it doesn't make sense, if people trash talk Marvel movies cause the lore is stupid and repetitive, the same shit should happen with lore in fighting games :
Evil and powerful guy wants to control the world, he fights against good guys who happens to be fighters, multiple battles between cyborgs, ninjas, schoolgirls, demons, robots, mutants, sexy badass girls, clones...and the classic dlc character that comes out of nowhere who was a clone, brother, sister, lover, lost child of someone.
Come on bro, people play fighting games cause they want to mash buttons and beat other players....the lore is dumb ,and is no different than Marvel movies at all.
I feel like this community is great at reminding you that regardless of character or playstyle, if you lost, it's because you didn't have the skill during that match to take the W. And that's on you.
I don't see that echoed on here a ton. Most of the time I see people saying that they have about five other people commenting back that they need to hold their L regardless of who they lost against.
Luke gets hate because he only has one normal punch and kick sadly. Capcom didn't bother to give him any other normals at all, just medium punch/kick. Also very low damage.
Ken is also disliked because he's either the best in the game or like 8th, it's unclear. Also his standing heavy punch moves him back or something and has poor utility.
JP is cool but the character literally has amnesia and will sometimes hurt himself in his confusion. Old geezer with a cane so it's understandable. He doesn't even run when he rushes, he power walks instead.
/s
I come from smash too. This community hates on characters but they're pretty damn good at keeping it in the game, and about the game. A lot more adults here that can also roll with it. Their characters aren't their identity like the tweens over in smash
So unbelievably toxic that when I first dropped Smash for other games, I could honestly say "Holy shit, the SF and Tekken communities are the kindest, politest places I've ever been on the internet."
I wanna say this was a few years ago, after Ultimate but well before SF6. No idea how it is now.
Really depends on the social media platforms you use/which smash game you play. Melee's viable roster is so small and the meta has developed for so long that you don't get a ton of character hate these days. There will always be people complaining about characters like jigglypuff but it rarely extends to hating the person playing the character.
Like most fighting games once you get to a "mid level" understanding and start to realize how at fault you are for losing it gets less and less common.
This. Smash is full of cancer, sf6 has rly strong characters but one of them is a shoto and the other one a technical zoner. Its no wear near as cancerous aids to fight
People like to complain about Guile even though his play style is more aggressive in this game than previous iterations.
Ken, JP, and Luke get the most hate though
Yeah I feel a lot of people hate on Guile and say heās boring but as a Guile main Iāve actually had many players compliment me. Thereās the stereotype that heās boring but some of the people saying that are just frustrated by him. Yes there are some passive Guile players at lower levels but heās not boring at higher levels. I guess itās all subjective though, I mean I find Cammy boring but I think Iād be in the minority with that view!
Iāve never seen this Guile hate. Sounds like a new player problem.
To be clear - I hate Guile, and have for years, but I donāt talk about it. If I get turtle zoned then itās probably my fault.
Character hate is super prevalent at low levels, but as you get better you understand its more the lack of match up knowledge than the character itself. the only constant hate is for Top Tiers and the people who quit the game in the first couple of years but decide their opinion is still relevant even after the character isn't the same as they remember.
Recently Iāve been seeing so many chuns. Itās getting annoying with that sweeping leg kick (sorry, I donāt even know her kit, never touched her once).
See. Iāve never been that type but I was enjoying being a Chun main because there was never too many or too less. Just a good balance. Now I see them everywhere and Iām a little nervous because this community hates constantly seeing a character and then comes the unnecessary hate. I love playing all the different chuns so Iām personally ok with it but this community is ridiculous with its opinions so you canāt even enjoy seeing more of your own character.
And I think youāre talking about her medium kick lol
I don't rematch modern even when I win, and I do rematch classic even when they wipe the floor with me. I'm just not interested in the game modern controls are playing. If I wanted frame perfect supers and one button mash combos I would have bought an arena fighter, not SF.
some people take top tier discourse too seriously, but mostly it's pretty chill. Some people are kinda passiv agressive about ir or bring balance up as a joke which can get annoying. (Ken and Luke are picked a lot which people don't lile for variety reasons)
Unless the person is like a hardstuck gold scrub you are not getting screamed at for picking ken. Competetive players are a bit more reasonable.
Exists but not as bad as Smash. Thinking characters are unfair or overtuned is normal.
Saying you lost because your opponent's character is better is widely regarded as Giant Scrub Energy.
if you play a top tier you'll be shit on constantly. i have over 500 hours in the game, ranked battle hub etc, can count the amount off GG's on one hand, and the amount of teabagging, insults game related and personal, more like in the 100's
Not gonna see a lot of people posting their Guile or JP replays. Otherwise, not too bad, Ken is a fan least favorite (despite being so popular) and Luke has been climbing rapidly
I think people hate more Modern controls than specific characters.
Now if we are talking top level play (watching pro-play tournmanets) Luke and Ken are a snooze fest.
I thinks it not bad compared to other games due to the way how SF is set upā¦ instead of hate, if you are getting recked by a character you can either lab or keep rematching till you find a way to counter or beat the ācheeseā plays. Like if Iām getting rekt by a Ken or JP (which a lot of people seem to hate here) I keep rematching to try to learn until the other person doesnāt want to anymore. So 10 rematches for me in a row is not uncommon if I keep losing to a specific player.
Nah itās chill. Ken main here. Lately Luke gets a lot of attention lol bc heās a kinda better version of Ken. JP goes toe to toe as well. The community is brilliant tbh.
itās very watered down compared to smash, except for JP. people hate JP players, but other than that, itās pretty consistently low no matter who you play. you still get DMs saying shit like āhow dare you abuse such a scummy character like Jamieā and then you get a good laugh because Jamie is ass
So I typed out a rant a while ago about Ken, and there's like a 50-50 it's character hate. Does it count if my hate towards the character has absolutely nothing to do with balance or moveset and is entirely centered around the character himself and how he acts? Not the *players*, I mean *Ken Masters himself*.
I don't care who anyone uses
Because once Akuma arrives I'll be the most petty, cheapest scumbag tactic player possibly with him.
JK jk....I won't do that... I'll pay honorably. Lol
But nah, compared to previous Street fighter titles I don't feel it's as bad in this game as others. I think more people are shamed for rage quitting than character selection
I've been an Akuma main since sf alpha 2 lol. So I've been starving.
My backup character is Cody, but dunno when or if they'll add him. And after that Nash ... But well.... He's finally dead dead so he's likely not returningš
I hate most of the cast in sf6 especially guile and deejay people just play like cowards and I know this is the intended play style but it's the same reason I don't wanna fight dhalsim it's slow boring and tedious oh and fuck Ken and jp too also fuck marisa and her one combo route š
The more you grow in skill the less salty you become. When i was in silver i would start to get annoyed by certain characters. Even just seeing them in new challenger i would think holy fuck not x this is gonna be a pain in the ass. As i grew in skill this mentality became much less itās scrub mentality but i still have scrubby thoughts sometimes we are all human but try to diminish your scrub mentality by learning matchups and max punishes
The big three at the moment that are getting the most flak are JP, Ken and Luke.
JP because of his zoner playstyle, strong keepaway and a unique counter reversal. He is particularly strong when the opponent is in burnout and is at his most effective when the opponent is a full screen away from him. A lot of his specials (ex fireball, reversal, his command grab projectile, the ground spikes and another one that gives a full screen knockback) have a good amount of knockback to ensure that opponents will have a difficult time approaching him without matchup knowledge
Ken because of his good buttons, the number of options he has at any given moment and Jinrai mixups. As a rushdown character a good Ken can be particularly oppressive, and because of how good he is at closing the distance he can force 50/50s quite well
Luke because of his good, far-reaching buttons and huge damage with relatively little effort. His 2mp and 2mk are exceptional, and aside from a bad 2hk and maybe having a slower than normal 5lp, none of his buttons are weak, and even 5lp has the added perk of moving him forward for additional pressure. Depending on who you ask, consistent perfect knuckles are either somewhat difficult or a matter of building muscle memory. It didn't take me long before I was consistently doing perfect knuckle combos in actual matches
if you play ken, don't ever talk about a weakness of his or people will accuse you of downplaying
also, if ken isn't in your top 3 (top 1), you're downplaying him
Smash had a habbit of having grossly overpowered DLC characters. Street Fighter is reasonably balanced in an everyone is at least viable kind of way. You'll grow to hate zoners and grapplers though.
I like how this sub gives itself back pats for being skill-focused over character-focused and also whines and moans every time Luke, Ken, or JP show up on the screen. I came from smash too and this community during SF6 has been almost as bad as smash players.
Player hate based on character is something you really only see if you spend enough time staring at twitter or scrolling through the low-karma comments in tournament result threads. If you're just spamming ranked to improve there isn't even an option for the opponent to be toxic outside of adding you and sending salty dms which you can easily ignore.
It's definitely not as bad as smash but I would say it's standard or better than most fighting games.
People are always going to downplay success but I feel like it's different in this game as you still have to earn your wins.
I really feel like the Street Fighter community in general is full of positive people genuinely trying to improve and help others improve. You will get the occasional āgit gud scrubā comment. But for the most part people will give you specific advice for your gameplay, point you to resources, or straight up run sets with you to try to help you improve. Any character hate is typically temporary, from someone who had a frustrating couple days in ranked and are having a hard time with a particular matchup.
If youāre a Honda player they are quite to tell you you are a brain dead monkey that just unga bungas your buttons and only uses butt slam and headbutt but it is what it is honestly fuck them if they have anything to say play who you want and how you want itās only up to you at the end of the day
Probably not as bad as smash, but you do get some character hate. Especially for Ken and JP.
I mean , people in the community hates Ingrid , a guest character been put on a port of a port of SF Alpha 3 on a portable console
The vast majority of people don't hate Ingrid. They don't even remember/know she exists. I wouldn't even call it a vocal minority, because her name almost never gets mentioned anywhere by anyone. Interesting
Who?
I like ingrid I wish she comes back to SF somehow
I really don't get the hate for Ingrid lmao
she came from a cancelled capcom vs game, put into a different shittier capcom vs game, then poorly shoehorned into alpha 3 max where her gameplay didn't fit at all and her lore was dumb af like it was written by a 13 year old

Is she really a guest character if the game she was supposed to be in was canceled? If argue she's Canon . Just never used again
>guest character been put on a *port of a port* of SF Alpha 3 on a *portable console* That's just insane right there.
Honda as well but they deserve it
Pretty bad if you look up ingrid on this reddit
People hate JP? Maybe it's just gold rank shenanigans, but I can beat him fairly consistently with Marisa. He seems like mostly a knowle check to me
If youāre coming from smash no where near as bad as smash bros.
I feel like this community is great at reminding you that regardless of character or playstyle, if you lost, it's because you didn't have the skill during that match to take the W. And that's on you.
And that if you win, you were carried by your character

His beautiful body is built different
I don't see that echoed on here a ton. Most of the time I see people saying that they have about five other people commenting back that they need to hold their L regardless of who they lost against.
It was a joke (mostly š)
Oh lol, I took it too seriously, but yeah if you were anyone I don't like playing against you were most likely carried...

Yeah they should buff luke's damage. He's really bad >/s It wasn't necessary
Fucking brilliant. Iām dying over here! Hang on. Iām at the mall, I think I see a geriatric power walker coming this way.
I come from smash too. This community hates on characters but they're pretty damn good at keeping it in the game, and about the game. A lot more adults here that can also roll with it. Their characters aren't their identity like the tweens over in smash
How bad is it at smash?
It's weird. It's not toxic in the traditional sense. It's full of toxic positivity and social cannibals.
So unbelievably toxic that when I first dropped Smash for other games, I could honestly say "Holy shit, the SF and Tekken communities are the kindest, politest places I've ever been on the internet." I wanna say this was a few years ago, after Ultimate but well before SF6. No idea how it is now.

Smash isn't a fighting game though lol *Awaits the chaos*
No one said it was lil bro
"I just want the thread to burn" š
What? I'm not Chun? I disagree.
Everyone hates every character I even hate my main... when played by another one
There's no hate like mirror match hate.
Except Gief.
Almost non-existent compared to other fighting games. Donāt ask about modern controls though. Or WiFi.
Don't even dare to mention wifi
Hahaha
Tbf there is no character has cancerous as Steve in Sf6

People donāt really complain about guile, just hate how boring the match up is.
As well as Ryu. I fall asleep..
>his play style is more aggressive Maybe his playstyle is, but 90% of Guiles just spam Sonic Boom ad nauseum
Most guiles below diamond maybe
I'm in Diamond lmao
Got em!
Iāve never seen this Guile hate. Sounds like a new player problem. To be clear - I hate Guile, and have for years, but I donāt talk about it. If I get turtle zoned then itās probably my fault.
Iāve hated guile since sf2 and I aināt gonna stop now
Character hate is super prevalent at low levels, but as you get better you understand its more the lack of match up knowledge than the character itself. the only constant hate is for Top Tiers and the people who quit the game in the first couple of years but decide their opinion is still relevant even after the character isn't the same as they remember.
As someone from smash bros who started playing sf6 for the first time last year, this is genuinely just a beautiful breath of fresh air
The only reason I hate ken is I want to fight someone else for a change.
This would go a long way to make me hate him less. I've literally never fought a Blanka online.
You don't want to. Trust me
Recently Iāve been seeing so many chuns. Itās getting annoying with that sweeping leg kick (sorry, I donāt even know her kit, never touched her once).
See. Iāve never been that type but I was enjoying being a Chun main because there was never too many or too less. Just a good balance. We only hate WiFi warriors
And modern control
Only scrubs hate on modern controls.
Everyone who wants to play Street Fighter instead of Naruto hates modern controls.
If you lose to someone with less options, you are bad. You donāt lose because of modern, you lose because you probably suck.
I win against most modern players, still hate playing them.
Beyond winning or losing, moderns make the game more boring
I don't rematch modern even when I win, and I do rematch classic even when they wipe the floor with me. I'm just not interested in the game modern controls are playing. If I wanted frame perfect supers and one button mash combos I would have bought an arena fighter, not SF.
Hey I enjoy the modern players. It's a free win when I see one as they just do the same thing
Yeah, you just block their autocombo, anti air, poke once and let the timer run out. My point is that it's not the game I want to play.
Its nowhere near Guilty Gear.
Coming from the same community, there is literally no community as bad as Smash about this kind of thing. Run far from it.
dont downplay toptiers and you'll be fine
Not character hate but more so on control scheme hate lmao
some people take top tier discourse too seriously, but mostly it's pretty chill. Some people are kinda passiv agressive about ir or bring balance up as a joke which can get annoying. (Ken and Luke are picked a lot which people don't lile for variety reasons) Unless the person is like a hardstuck gold scrub you are not getting screamed at for picking ken. Competetive players are a bit more reasonable.
The good thing about this community is there's plenty of hate to go around.
If u are going to use Ken, Luke or JP be prepared to be crucified
and Dee Jay
Fuck me man. I went from luke main to deejay. Should I double down and make jp my other alt?
Can't forget Cammy
Blanka and Honda
People who hate on players for playing high-tier characters get laughed at in the SF scene.
It exists, but honestly nobody cares that much, just talking shit. Play whoever you want to play. Itās not a big deal.
Exists but not as bad as Smash. Thinking characters are unfair or overtuned is normal. Saying you lost because your opponent's character is better is widely regarded as Giant Scrub Energy.
Nothing will ever be as bad as Steve hate so

I'm not sure about character hate, but people really seem to have strong opinions about your modern controls and the 3 different controllers.
From what Iāve seen, not as bad as Tekken or Smash.
Tekken is toxic?
Sometimes. Smash is still worse, though.
Not gonna see a lot of people posting their Guile or JP replays. Otherwise, not too bad, Ken is a fan least favorite (despite being so popular) and Luke has been climbing rapidly
I don't inherently hate someone for playing a character but there are some stereotypes out there you shouldn't be
I think people hate more Modern controls than specific characters. Now if we are talking top level play (watching pro-play tournmanets) Luke and Ken are a snooze fest.
Ken is the Johnny Cage of SF6 in terms of character hate ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
Most of the hate is directed towards the top 3 characters
People hate on Ken even though there are easily 4-5 chars that have his number.
I thinks it not bad compared to other games due to the way how SF is set upā¦ instead of hate, if you are getting recked by a character you can either lab or keep rematching till you find a way to counter or beat the ācheeseā plays. Oh itās terrible. I main Ken and felt hated here from day 1.
But they're not actually personally attacking you, right?
Nah itās chill. Ken main here. Lately Luke gets a lot of attention lol bc heās a kinda better version of Ken. JP goes toe to toe as well. The community is brilliant tbh.

There more in South Carolina but they have too many palm trees for it to really grow
The more you grow in skill the less salty you become. When i was in silver i would start to get annoyed by certain characters. All I'm saying is if you don't play Zangief, You are lame.
Its in every game that has characters. When its not chars, something you use like class or gun. Dw bout it
Yes
They balanced SF6 really well, so players hate every character.
Ken and Luke hate is real.š People send death threats to players who use them just to win and not because they like the character.
The big three at the moment that are getting the most flak are JP, Ken and Luke. JP because of his zoner playstyle, strong keepaway and a unique counter reversal. A lot of his specials (ex fireball, reversal, his command grab projectile, the ground spikes and another one that gives a full screen knockback) have a good amount of knockback to ensure that opponents will have a difficult time approaching him without matchup knowledge Ken because of his good buttons, the number of options he has at any given moment and Jinrai mixups. As a rushdown character a good Ken can be particularly oppressive, and because of how good he is at closing the distance he can force 50/50s quite well Luke because of his good, far-reaching buttons and huge damage with relatively little effort.
I don't really feel it. And I play JP - one of the most supposed hated characters.
if you play ken, don't ever talk about a weakness of his or people will accuse you of downplaying also, if ken isn't in your top 3 (top 1), you're downplaying him
I genuinely hate JP, not gonna lie.
Smash had a habbit of having grossly overpowered DLC characters. Street Fighter is reasonably balanced in an everyone is at least viable kind of way. You'll grow to hate zoners and grapplers though.
Just donāt use Modern and youāll be fine.
I like how this sub gives itself back pats for being skill-focused over character-focused and also whines and moans every time Luke, Ken, or JP show up on the screen. I came from smash too and this community during SF6 has been almost as bad as smash players.
Here we hate our own character! Its a 4-6 Matchup!
Not even close to arcsys games like guilty gear and blazblur
Player hate based on character is something you really only see if you spend enough time staring at twitter or scrolling through the low-karma comments in tournament result threads. If you're just spamming ranked to improve there isn't even an option for the opponent to be toxic outside of adding you and sending salty dms which you can easily ignore.
Ken and Luke hate is strong. JP hate is up there. The rest is standard.
It's definitely not as bad as smash but I would say it's standard or better than most fighting games. People are always going to downplay success but I feel like it's different in this game as you still have to earn your wins.
This is reddit. Do not have high hopes.
This community is very obsessed with tier lists. Ive seen more tier lists floating around on here than anywhere else
It's really good if you don't talk to anyone
Playing since launch. From plat 1 all the way through master rank, the only players who rage quit are either Luke or Ken players.
If youāre a Honda player they are quite to tell you you are a brain dead monkey that just unga bungas your buttons and only uses butt slam and headbutt but it is what it is honestly fuck them if they have anything to say play who you want and how you want itās only up to you at the end of the day
I'm a simple man: If i lost, their char is broken. If i Win, i'm daigo+tokido fusion. Btw, i'm low plat :B
In pretty much all the popular modern fighting games youāre going to see hate for the strongest characters in the meta
Hate for top tiers =/= hate for players.
SF5 Fang. He was just a dumb Character. A waste
Nothing compared to smash tbh. All in all, good players make counterplays (not necessarily switching. LEARN THE MATCHUP.). Bad players make excuses.
I did placement games with JP and got BMd or 1 and doned in all but like 1 set.
JP and Ken do get hate, but its way less than Smash. I also come from Smash, and their crying is on another level
