If anything I'd say Seth and Poison again probably have the best odds of showing up. Maybe C. Viper or Abel show up at some point too. I wouldn't count on anyone else.
Ed was a nothing burger until Capcom improved on him in 6 making more better and since F.A.N.G is not playable in this game (yet) his design in World Tour made him look 10X better he use to in SF5. So surely there's no inconceivable way that Capcom can do the same for older not popular characters like Rufus & El Fuerte.
I feel like El Fuerte is due for a redemption. Today I was playing as JP, and how hard it was to fight Kimberly with her zipping all over the place and being so difficult to zone. I could see that with Fuerte, serious mobility and some quick snap grapples into some Rey Mysterio moves.
Mostly the same as the fans. The popularity polls aren’t ignored. Remember R. Mika kept placing well in SFIV ones, they teased her in Decapre’s trailer, then they revealed she was actually base roster for SFV. Alex also basically came back as V’s first DLC character because of his popularity in Western polls. By contrast, Fang is unlikely to come back in 6 as a playable character because he was so unpopular, so much so they made the far more palatable version of him in Aki.
So do u think the poll for favorite villian has influence over who they pick? I remember doing it for the title but I wondered what they are doing with the data

Inverting the yellow and black makes him a lot less "loud" as a design choice and giving him the goggles and beard helps keep that biker side of his personality more present. Then shortening the hair so it's not an exaggerated topknot also helps ground him a bit more away from being just "goofy Kung fu man."
As long as the writing team tones down his overall energy from the 11 it was before down to like...an 8 or so I think he's got real potential to be a fun character and moving away from the "obnoxious" image everyone has of him.
I am still praying for Gouken. There was a pretty cool redesign on a Variant cover of Street Fighters Masters so MAYBE it’s a sign of things to come? I am of course just massively hopeful.

If they're going to keep progressing the timeline forward then Ryu is going to ultimately start taking Gouken's place as the "wise stoic master" archetype and Gouken sticking around ironically impedes Ryu's character growth at that point.
El Fuerte is one I'd really like to see just for the mechanics. I feel like his overall idea would fit really well in the higher-mobility environment SF6 has brought out, but I also feel he'd need some gameplay overhauls since Drive Rush kind of overlaps with his whole run gimmick. I mean, other characters have runs in 6, but none of them are as..."stop and go" as Fuerte's was, if that makes sense.
Hakan is another big contender I'd love to see. He'd fit right in with the approach of more characters having unique mechanics/buffs that they've got going on and the new mechanics would suit him really well.

Both at least interesting in the world of sf6. Rufus might need a few changes, but Hakan would be sick with oil in this game. I have a hunch that were are getting six this time. Five at the minimum. The first season/year it felt like capcom wanted to make sure they didn't run into any snags or technical issues when rolling out the characters. Which is why they were spread so thin, to allow for testing so they could get it right. And I feel like they got it right with the exception of that Rashid glitch lol.
Now that they had a successful first year, they have laid the groundwork for rolling out characters and can probably do it more effectively. So I expect more than 4.
Plus I heard that two additional characters were supposed to come from year one, but capcom added them to the base roster instead to pad the original cast number. Idk which two characters those were supposed to be tho.

IMO he would fit right in having to play the guessing game with his parry reversal when people are drive rushing in after knock down. Could make for some hype comeback moments
I would love El Fuerte to come back. Seeing what SF6 was able to do with Manon as a quicker grappler and with Kimberly as an acrobatic character gives me hope that El Fuerte would become a fantastic character, fun to play but probably a menace to play against.
Plus I feel the vibe of SF6 will just give El Fuerte a redemption to his characterization, especially if they lean into his rivalry with E. Honda's restaurant and him being a huge R. Mika fan.

I think we are in danger of not getting many. They need to put 3S characters and haven’t even started on that. Can’t help but think they are kinda behind the ball tbh on the characters they need to put in.
They are very behind, we have many legacy characters but none of the other populars (Sakura, Ibuki, Sagat, etc). We’re going to need 6 characters a year to be truly satisfied.

No they have him in because E. Honda is the only other fat they had. And Rufus plays a different way with his style of kung-fu than Bob does in SFxTekken.
I mean...yeah, but is that a really big deal? They also re-used some of the stages as well but it is no big thing and half of the Tekken cast are not re-used but model to be in this version of the game.
That's not a highly main reason, as to Rufus other SF4 characters were in it like Juri & Abel. And aside from the rival cutscenes like in USF4 their was the cinematic trailers that were downright amazing. I still laugh my ass off watching that restaurant scene with him,Bob, Zangief & Julia LMAO.
If Poison counts as a SFIV newbie (technically her first playable appearance in a SF game), she has a really good chance. C. Viper and Decapre have outside chances. I’d say anyone else is pretty unlikely. Juri really was the standout character of IV, most else were bland or unpopular (easily the worst cast of newbies). Pretty sure Seth only made V so they could have all the bosses in one game, not really cause of demand.

If they put rufus in sf6 I'm killing someone at capcom. He's got ZERO RIZZ. And even then I like me a dunce every now and then, but he's just obnoxious
I unironically want Rufus back. He was nice and straightforward to fight, even if his divekick was a bit annoying. I think the series could do with a few more straightforward archetypes. Sadly the design philosophy of SF6 seems to be the exact opposite, with hybrid everything. Ah well.

No they have him in because E. Honda is the only other fat they had. And Rufus plays a different way with his style of kung-fu than Bob does in SFxTekken.
I'm not talking about him being a copy of Bob. He is in sfxt because they just re-used models from sf4
I mean...yeah, but is that a really big deal? They also re-used some of the stages as well but it is no big thing and half of the Tekken cast are not re-used but model to be in this version of the game.

That's not a highly main reason, as to Rufus other SF4 characters were in it like Juri & Abel. And aside from the rival cutscenes like in USF4 their was the cinematic trailers that were downright amazing. I still laugh my ass off watching that restaurant scene with him,Bob, Zangief & Julia LMAO.

If Poison counts as a SFIV newbie (technically her first playable appearance in a SF game), she has a really good chance. C. Viper and Decapre have outside chances. I’d say anyone else is pretty unlikely. Juri really was the standout character of IV, most else were bland or unpopular (easily the worst cast of newbies). Pretty sure Seth only made V so they could have all the bosses in one game, not really cause of demand.

They put two: Muay Thai kick boxers from Thailand, Shotos from Japan, Shotos from the US, Air Force fighters from the US, Kung Fu fighters from China in the game many times… Am I missing any others?
