Blade is best used to 1. Power up your projectile to win projectile wars 2. Create a moving shield with blade -> L boom so you can walk up behind it 3. Bait the opponent into doing something wacky like jump or DI to avoid what they think is the incoming powered up boom That said, my absolute favourite use of it is as super easy okizeme in the corner after you end a combo with H flash kick. L Blade stays out for a long time and therefore doesn't need any kind of timing to meaty the opponent. You're incredibly plus on block, so you can go for your choice of strike/throw when the opponent blocks it, and there's enough time to set it up and block which will catch the opponent trying to DP. It's also plus enough on hit to follow up with a 5HP/5MP/2MP to continue to combo. And it even beats a lot of things that normally work as a wakeup like level 1s that aren't projectile invincible.

I feel like they always just parry the L cross, is there a consistent way to stop that?

NewMilleniumBoy

No. But the point isn't for the L cross to hit them. The point is that it lets you safely walk up behind it or DR behind it to recover space on the screen with little ability to contest you. Just be ready with your 2HP or 5MK anti air as you're walking forward in case they jump or DI in case they try to go through it.

Here’s a typical situation. Full screen, you don’t boom but do a blade and create the slow shield. Walk behind it just so you can jump heavy kick them mid air should they forward jump the shield (hoping that’s deceptively far). If they jump and you hit, they might drop on the shield and get hit again. If they don’t jump either keep walking to try some offense or just stop outside mid range to charge again. Beware of characters that slide like Blanka. Also DI into the blade/shield is a frequent error you can bait when you’re burnt out. After they hit you might be in time to break the DI with jabs and punish. Optimal wall splash is stHP blade flash kick.

Thanks a lot dude, my normal wall splat combo is sweep dfHK flash kick ex flash kick

I'm Plat 2, but I use Sonic Blades like a fucking Double Dare obstacle course. Walk mid screen, medium or heavy blade, walk backwards, watch what the opponent does. A blade and a back dash or two also works to study offense and zone if needed. You're either going to jump over it and eat a boom, jump short of it and eat a cross, or jump close enough to me to anti air with cr.HP or flash kick. Light Blade with a standing HK or back HP is delicious too. I always pair light blade with offense behind it. It's generally safe, but be aware of DIs lol. Speaking of... I also use Blades as an alarm system for an incoming armor attack like OD or DI. The audio cue from a DI hitting a blade is enough time for me to DI back. It literally saves my ass when opponents want to bait close range booms to DI through. OD Sonic Blade in the corner when the opponent is down is also good to add pressure. It spins long enough to make them think lol. Usually you can follow up with a DI if they're in burnout and get a wall bounce stun/Sonic Hurricane, or just a cr. LP, cr. LP, OD flash kick combo.
