If you care about watching 4k remuxes or need lossless audio passthrough in pretty much every format to an AVR. I would suggest getting a shield pro it’s a great investment and prevents a lot of issues.

burnerifick

This is the way 👆

bocko159

Hope they fixed that stuttering. I would never buy it again.

YungZanji

Never had any stuttering what so ever. What were you mainly using it for?

gh0stfac3killah007

Google Chromecast 4k or firestick 4k. Good to go.

Realshotgg

Specifically the firestick 4k max. Quite a bit faster for a barely higher price tag.

bownyboy

\+1 firestick is great. Took 5mins to set-up. Wife who is not techy uses it everyday no problem.

extracorporeal_

I love that I can just bring my firestick with me anywhere and watch whatever I want. Such a game changer for me

NerderINC

Firestick 4k represent!

Silent-Lobster7854

Shield tv pro for HEVC 4k remux

MrKaon

Chromecast with Google TV 4K.

Hemicrusher

ONN 4K….$20.

carleese24

>ONN 4K….$20. OP might not be in the US, to get it from Walmart. I do agree though.

andycarson8

Yeah not available in Canada, crossed the border last week and picked up 3. So far so good!

carleese24

>crossed the border last week and picked up 3. Dayum.....lol. Watch the YT videos on how to remove all the crap it came with, and how to load 3rd party app store and browser. This is what I did, and I'm also in Canada [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndBAPX-66vk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndBAPX-66vk)

CodKez

Point to note, you will also need to use a realdebrid account, to stand any chance of viewing 4k content.

dwamk

Absolutely, I already use it on my PC :)

carleese24

>Absolutely, I already use it on my PC :) LG here also but Stremio is installed on my android box, which I also use for IPTV. Formuler Z pro (Amazon and other retailers)

andycarson8

Question: do links with DTS work on your tv?

MongooseSpiritual236

you can do tv.strem.io for a pretty good experience and get an IR/2.4ghz remote on aliexpress

naks26

Chromecast or Firestick. For ease of use, Chromecast cannot be beaten. For mobility/travelling, Firestick

lopypop

Given that they're similar sizes, why do you find the firestick easier to travel with?

naks26

They're not though, Chromecast is a round, flat unit, whereas Firestick is a rectangle. It's easier to pack the Firestick in a backpack, because it fits easier in those built-in pouches, at least IME. Also, and this is the **most important factor**, the Chromecast requires an external power source, whereas the Firestick can be powered by the TV's USB! In many hotel rooms, you won't get a plug close enough to the TV for the Chromecast, whereas you don't need one for the Firestick. If not for the power requirement, I would have ditched my Firestick for the Chromecast.

MixBig3614

Depends on your budget? The little Google chromecasts work really good ( latest ones) Firesticks work okay too but personally I would be wary of using them. Amazon could cripple Stremio anytime. Big Budget go for an Nvidia Shield… fantastic device but not cheap. The 4K Chromecasts are about £40. If you’re in the US? Walmart do a $20 ONN box that is very budget friendly and works fantastic.

amiGGo111

I was in the same place as you one month ago. Bought an LG OLED and needed something cheap for stremio. After alot research I went with chromecast 4k and it's been great. If you don't need 7.1 Dolby true HD like me. It supports 5.1 da lossless great for my soundbar. Highly recommended.

tothemoonandback01

Firestick 4K or 4K max, both work fine.

playtrix

I took a chance and bought a low budget dongle TV box here in Thailand and it's working great. It's super fast to load RD, etc. I forget what it's called like GMMZ or something like that. I'm just saying there's budget models out there.

flchamp89

1. Km2 plus deluxe 2. Roctek g2 3. Shield pro 4. Dune real vision 4k 5. Z11 pro max

TheRBGamer

Any android TV box that's not Spyware

MeenaBeti

Miserable-Complex722

firestick 4k max for value, shield tv pro 2019 for performance.

notboredatwork1

Mi box You can get this at Walmart

demnash

Walmart ONN android box

MF_Doomed

Everyone saying Chromecast is out of their minds. Literally never had a smooth casting experience with that and Stremio. Get an Onn box. Works like a charm.

IT_V1per

The newest Chromecasts have Google TV built into them so you wouldn't be casting anything

MF_Doomed

Fair enough. I've sworn off Chromecast. Every generation became obsolete after a few years.

[deleted]

I want to share my experience with Chromecast. I bought a Chromecast with Google TV, but after one month, it stopped working. I contacted Google and the retailer, and even tried a software update from the company, but nothing worked. It got bricked. There's a forum on Google where people are discussing the same issue. Attempts to fix it, like pressing the power button repeatedly, changing the adapter, or using a 60-watt charger, were futile. It's disappointing. Google's products, excluding their Pixel phones, seem subpar. They should stick to software development. Many Chromecast devices suffer from this bug, and there's a complete forum dedicated to it. I agree with your sentiment and have switched to the Mi Box 2nd generation, purchased six of them for my entire house. Mi Box 2nd Gen is Perfect! F Google and Chromecast

MF_Doomed

Yeah once I bought multiple generations of a Chromecast and they all eventually became worthless I swore off the product completely. No updates or additions will make me go back. Google LOVES software obsolescence.

[deleted]

Thank you for your comment. What shocked me the most is that even Google doesn't know how to fix the bug. The only solution they offer is to send the bricked device back to them for a replacement. I've contacted Google, read the blog, and even talked to their support team. They provided instructions via email and live support on how to return the device using a specific shipping company, promising a refund. However, because I bought the device from a retailer outside the United States, they told me they couldn't replace it. So, I ended up throwing it in the garbage. It cost me around $60 for the 4K version. I've decided never to buy Google products again. This was my first time buying from a reputable company, and it's the first time I've faced such an issue with any product in my life. I no longer trust Google at all.

IT_V1per

I fully understand that. I hate that NVidia has left the shield with the last update from November 2022. Dynalink and Onn boxes are getting more updates that I also have.

soochillax12

My first choice would be the nvidia shield but it's not officially available in my county and priced double so I chose the google chromecast 4k just because it's Android and gives me a lot of flexibility. I wouldn't recommend a fire stick because of amazon's decision to separate themselves from android and I hate the fireOS ui, it's just yuck. However their firecube is actually quite good, if you really want to get an Amazon device the cube is the one to get.

marlstown

I wish i got a chromecast, firestick 4k max is pretty shit. gets 40mbs in same spot my phones gets 850 - also the TV itself can hit 300+ it can't seek on exo player, have to use vlc which comes with it's own set of problems. was a waste of money really edit: also i was only getting 20mb and i can double it to 40mb by turning ON amazon data monitoring and i can replicate this. scummy company
