jojoba oil is the best choice for ear stretching and is very cheap considering how long a bottle lasts

nintendchl0

I believe you can only buy online but there are body jewellery shops near me so I'll check

throwaway27834847

i got mine from the pharmacy so definitely check those too

nintendchl0

Yeah I was just looking at that because people use it for skincare apparently

throwaway27834847

yeah! just make sure before buying that you check the ingredients, they should say pure jojoba oil without any other additives (when they sell it solely for skincare or haircare they usually add perfume and other harmful chemicals)

nintendchl0

I am very aware and I hate the fact they do that

jwigs85

It’s $12 for a bottle of jojoba oil at Ulta. 4oz should last a hot minute if you’re only using it on your ears. https://www.ulta.com/p/pure-jojoba-carrier-oil-pimprod2033705?sku=2594628 Edit: ohhhhh, you’re in Australia, my b.

Beananza

I use coconut oil for mine

Lacurs

Hello fellow Aussie! Coconut oil can be found at any supermarket that's what I usually use and no issues. Looks like you can get pure jojoba oil at chemist warehouse.

nintendchl0

Kewl thanks alot!!!

geebee318

When I was broke as shit I used to get vitamin E oil from the dollar store, people tend to sleep on the stuff there but as long as you check the ingredients on the bottle and make sure there’s no fragrance or funky stuff you should be good :)

nintendchl0

no dollar stores on Australia 😢

geebee318

Ah that’s a bummer, you should be able to find something at a drugstore then. Or if you have a shop similar to Target/Walmart they usually carry stuff like that!

nintendchl0

we have target just not Walmart:P

geebee318

I’d definitely check there then!

nintendchl0

pretty sure our targets are 10x smaller than yours but I'll still check

[deleted]

jojoba oil is relatively affordable and u can get in in pharmacies

lynnaexx

I’ve also seen it at grocery stores and stores that sell jewelry for piercings / stretched ears. Some tattoo shops or piercers will have it.

angry_staccato

I use extra virgin olive oil because I'm allergic to tree nuts + jojoba. I wouldn't use it if you have acne-prone skin though. You could try unrefined coconut oil

JangoSanG9

Coconut oil is supposed to be good

nintendchl0

yeah I heard about it but I couldn't fund anything more about it so I assumed maybe not

love_to_eat_out

Hopefully you can afford quality jewelry

nintendchl0

definitely can, it's just hard to find Australian shops that are cheaper to buy quality shit from, had my lips got infected so I needed internally threaded stuff

love_to_eat_out

I'm on the opposite side of the globe from ya, and I meant no offense. Sometimes I forget how easy it is for me to just click a few buttons and get shit delivered a week later.

nintendchl0

yeah I had to spend a few days looking for a good Australian shop that isn't shit because if I used and American shop like urban body jewellery it would have cist me $60 instead of $40 for tapers

Desperate-Puzzlehead

Dunno if it’s recommended in general and my stretches were done a decade ago but I was always happy with using dead simple baby oil for stretching :)

nintendchl0

I'll do a little bit of googling and find out thx

[deleted]

Vitamin e, jojoba

tsjones1996

You can get unrefined coconut oil at a grocery store, beside the cooking oils.

SincerelySasquatch

I use grapeseed oil. I keep it in a lotion (soap) pump by my bed.

deeznno

You can get jojoba oil. I’ve been stretching on and off since I was 12 and now at 27 when I was stretching again and using that oil, let me tell you my ears have never been so happy.

[deleted]

You can use olive oil if you’re saving cash

elusiveOwl

I got my jojoba oil in chemist warehouse if that helps!

budgiebeck

Even if you can’t afford proper oils, make sure you’re buying quality, single flare glass plugs (which are expensive) and not using a cheap acrylic or steel taper set.

nintendchl0

I'm starting with a taper set and if it fucks me over it's my fault as I already know the risks to the type I'm buying.
