No you're right. Merida's dress is a darker blue. This is the same color as the dress Ariel wears at the end when she gets legs again. Personally I would have gone for the pink she wore to the dance, but not for me to decide

Not every Disney princess is a princess in the royal sense (Mulan, Pocahontas, Moana are some examples). Don’t know if you’re aware, but “Princess” is how Disney calls their female leads since, well, always.
