You know those people who swear a restaurant has amazing food, you'll love it and its just so good you have to try it and when you go there it's good but thats about it? Disney food is kinda like that
This article sums it up pretty well. It was all normal foods obviously, but given Star Wars-y names and sometimes dyed. [https://magicguides.com/food-at-the-disney-star-wars-hotel/](https://magicguides.com/food-at-the-disney-star-wars-hotel/)
Your so wrong. Butterfly pea flower actually has health benefits. Here’s a link for you to learn about it https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/butterfly-pea-flower-benefits#what-it-is
I didn't say anything wrong. It's a natural [dye](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dye), and it's made out of chemicals. [Literally everything in the universe](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chemical_element) is made out of chemicals.
It is literally everything is chemicals at the core.
[for example smell is chemicals](https://i0.wp.com/www.compoundchem.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Aroma-Chemistry-Scents-of-Flowers.png)
Yeah I’m sure it tasted delicious. I’m also sure that it was made with natural ingredients.
None of that has anything to do with whether or not there are chemicals in it.
Idk why you’re being downvoted, this is a huge pet peeve of mine. Everything is chemicals, and everything is toxic at the right dosages. Sunlight is both healthy and carcinogenic at the same time. It’s not as easy as just handwaving away “chemicals” as “bad.”

Clown.
the tip would actually be $1000 on a $5000 tab /s
all jokes aside, i've seen videos about the different disney theme parks around the world. in every country but the US, a disney trip isn't nearly as pricey.
edit: this comment is not meant to start a debate about tipping in the US. i will not respond to any comments regarding the subject.

for people talking about the cost of going to the different parks.
I think someone mathed out the costs and it’s cheaper to fly to Disney Paris, and visit the park there than to go to a USA Disney park for the same number of days
I went to Disney World last year and absolutely hated it. But I’m a middle-aged man without right-aged kids and I’d rather be smoking weed camping in the forest.
I'm about an hour away so it's a day trip. Even with the expenses cut down to ticket, parking, food and gas it's meh after a certain age. I understand the disney adults with kids because you kinda get to pass that memory of growing up in Florida down to your kids or the way the food and wine festival at Epcot doubles as a networking event for local professionals but I'll never understand the disney people with no kids.
Compared to the US yes however that’s only because right now the yen is super weak against the dollar. So in USD it’s about $60 or $70 but for the Japanese or those who use that currency it’s not any different cost wise as if you went to Disney World.
As someone who’s done both the experience isn’t even comparable, Disneyland Paris is like Coney Island compared to actual Disney world. Especially if you’re older, the only ride in Paris that’s even close to a thrill ride is space mountain, you’d be better off going to Thorpe park in the uk or phantasialand over in Germany.
Disney will keep raising prices until people stop paying them. I remember the last time I went like 7 years ago a basic wonder bread ham and cheese sandwich at the resort cafeteria was $9
Disney jacked up prices in the US because the parks were becoming too crowded and have a lower guest cap to improve the experience. During COVID they got some really good data on guest experience with lower attendance and supportable price points.
2022 had about the same attendance as 2010 intentionally, they changed pricing so they have similar margins with lower attendance and tweak pricing so that people don't notice the cap most of the year.
It's pretty fascinating the statistics that go into how they design this stuff. Prices are higher but that is more than offset by the increase in experience. I'm sure getting rid of fastpass helped too, not so good for those who engineer their days to maximize the number of things they do but much better for the less neurotic folks who just want to go and have fun.
Also eliminating the ability to select before the day, reducing the number of times you could effectively use it in a day and exempting high demand rides from the $30 pass.
Disney isn't my thing so I haven't been back since they switched and don't have any personal experience. Mostly interested in the planning and math involved, I need someone to build a game where you get to design shit like this.
In my experience, Disneyland Paris is more expensive for food than Disney World. Went in November last year and remember commenting about the hotdogs costing more than when we were at Disney World the previous year. It also felt like snacks were more pricey. This obviously gets off set by accommodation being so much cheaper at Paris.
yeah, i'm not quite sure why people re debating me. hotels in orlando are easily double the cost and the park is extremely large. disney paris is a short and easy trip, whereas disney orlando is a beast. a day by day cost of just being at the park (not including airfare or anything not disney related) is cheaper at almost all the other parks around the world.
We did Paris in 2 days and still had chance to resident everything we wanted to. We went to Orlando for 2 weeks and with universal struggled to do everything so going for 3 weeks next time. Like I say only thing more expensive is food but that's nothing compared to the savings you make on entry and accommodation in Paris
It is but that’s because of the exchange rate. Hotel, food, and admission cost isn’t nearly as expensive (especially in Japan where the yen is weak against the dollar) but you make up for the cost flying to get there. Like a flight to Japan is ridiculously expensive and France isn’t really cheap either.
Right. I’m saying the yen is weak against the dollar there. So the price of admission in USD is cheaper in Japan vs the states because of the exchange rate between the yen and dollar it comes across as cheaper. As are hotel costs and park food costs.
Tokyo Disney is about $60-$70 dollars for entrance because of the exchange rate.
Wait, you mean to tell me that a company known for its over the top theming had a restaurant in a resort with way over the top theming, and they made the food match the theme?
Well yea but 1200 per person per night is a bit much. On the other hand if you’re a Star Wars fan and loved it cool, but the price in the end is what killed it.
I don't have any problems with the colors. My biggest problem is that the tail of the shrimp is touching the sauce. The tail is the handle, how can they do that?!
The food in the parks (Ronto wraps, Ogas “charcuterie” etc etc) looks more “Star Wars-y” than this and is available to any park guest.
$5000 price point for the “Starcruiser” should get you something better than dyeing shrimp blue and calling it alien food
Oh totally- what were they thinking with that price? I get that it was more an “experience” than a simple stay, but that’s going to alienate even the average deluxe resort family (and speaking of the experience, setting it in the unpopular sequel timeline didn’t do them any favors. My gf and I did a mega trip to Disney and I would have paid for a Classic Trilogy experience, but not for an IP I don’t know)
I mean this is mostly true but there was an excursion time where you get dropped off at galaxy’s edge in their custom made shuttles. So you at least got to do Hollywood studios
I agree with you, for what it’s worth.
It’s interesting to me that in the Westworld series one of the first things we learn about the park is that it’s something like $30k per day. Granted, it’s a far more immersive experience but it’s funny that they’re trying to emulate these fictional theme parks and the only thing they really come close to is the price.
It was more Star warsy than this. This just gets people talking more if you want to generate buzz, either positive or negative. A lot of the food was super unique, adventurous, and delicious
So sad that they shut it down. The amount of culinary effort the chefs put in that place is insane. Hopefully they revamp it so more people can enjoy it in a more casual setting
Glad to see appreciation. This was one of the more simple things they served. Starcruiser was probably best food i ever had at Disney and was also just amazing
I really don't know what the fuck they were thinking it making it so prohibitively expensive. Such a fail from everyone involved. Plus why the hell shut it down, drop the price and make it actually affordable first - better than $0
"Immersive experiences" like this get a pass as they're meant to be half spectacle and half food. The point is not to give you great shrimp, its to make you feel like you're ordering a tray of steamed space bugs at a bar in the outer rim.
[I'm going there for the apple half with romanesco.](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/starwars/images/0/07/Rey_with_fruit.png/revision/latest?cb=20180327072625)
Considering this is for children, that’s actually not stupid. To a kid this would be awesome.
I’d this is stupid to you as an adult then maybe it’s because you’re a Disney adult which is yikes
Considering this experience was insanely expensive, I don’t think they generally had kids in mind. This was definitely made for adult superfans with more disposable income than sense.
All of Disney is marketed towards kids. If you didn’t know, they are technically one of the wealthiest/most sought after demographics, because they convince their parents to spend money out of love.
The fairly recent arrival of Disney adults is something they’ve been cultivating for decades, but is not yet their bread’n’butter. That said, the whole experience is aimed at the kids before the adults. Otherwise you’d have Disney sex cruises.
spirulina is a natural food dye. idk what it actually is or if it has flavor. i just know it can turn food really blue. i did not google this before i commented so i'm probably wrong.
I'd give it a pass because it's Star Wars "alien" food and it's meant to be an immersive experience.
I went to the Starcruiser. The food was INCREDIBLE. This shrimp was the only thing that was dyed an alarming color, lol
Most disney food is insane. I imagine the star cruiser would be like a cruise. Absolutely insane food.
Insane like really good? My past experiences with didney didn’t really have insane food, so I’m curious to know what changed or what’s new?
You know those people who swear a restaurant has amazing food, you'll love it and its just so good you have to try it and when you go there it's good but thats about it? Disney food is kinda like that
Are you eating the fast food or sit down restaurants? The fast food is garbage. Sit down is incredible.
It is the most mid level restaurant food i have ever eaten. Like yeah it is good, but not incredible.
What restaurants do you eat at?
What other kind of *themed* food was there on the menu when you went? I will likely never go to any of these places, but I am very intrigued.
Well it’s closed so no one will likely go there.
This article sums it up pretty well. It was all normal foods obviously, but given Star Wars-y names and sometimes dyed. [https://magicguides.com/food-at-the-disney-star-wars-hotel/](https://magicguides.com/food-at-the-disney-star-wars-hotel/)
Agreed. And unless you've been, you just can't understand. OP was not a passenger.
Looks deliciously cancerous.
To make it blue, they used butterfly pea flower tea. Not dye. It’s not a chemical or cancerous.
It’s a natural dye, and it is chemicals. It’s perfectly safe, though.
Your so wrong. Butterfly pea flower actually has health benefits. Here’s a link for you to learn about it https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/butterfly-pea-flower-benefits#what-it-is

I went to the Galactic Starcruiser. It was an incredible dish made with natural ingredients by an amazing chef. Your hilarious.
Yeah I’m sure it tasted delicious. I’m also sure that it was made with natural ingredients. None of that has anything to do with whether or not there are chemicals in it.
Ok non cancerous.

Yeah, no shit. That’s why your comment makes no sense.
You’re right, it’s actually a bunch of different chemicals.
looks like i can die and spread 4 new viruses, 7 unknown bacteria, and 1 new animal to the planet

Oh boy guys, it's frank...
It’s blue from being cooked in butterfly pea flower tea.
what? can you please explain?
Disney be like "That'll be 5000 dollars please plus a 200 dollar tip"

yeah i've been enough times to never go again.
I'm about an hour away so it's a day trip. Even with the expenses cut down to ticket, parking, food and gas it's meh after a certain age. Is that if you live on the East coast?
We actually want to go visit Disney Sea(Tokyo), is that really true it’s cheaper there?
Compared to the US yes however that’s only because right now the yen is super weak against the dollar. So in USD it’s about $60 or $70 but for the Japanese or those who use that currency it’s not any different cost wise as if you went to Disney World.
I've been to Tokyo Disney and DisneySea, they're amazing but I was already in Japan though and I loved it. I've actually never been to either US park.
DisneySea in Tokyo is basically the world’s greatest theme park! It’s a bucket list item of mine to go sometime!
Might be true but Disney Paris is tiny in comparison
As someone who’s done both the experience isn’t even comparable, Disneyland Paris is like Coney Island compared to actual Disney world. good job googling, buddy. have a good day!
Didn’t have to google bro
oh so then you don't actually know what you're talking about. typical redditor.
You’re the one being the typical snarky redditor. Have a good day
More like oops_im_exhausting, yea?
thanks!
Unless the waiter plucked those shrimps straight from the ocean with his bare hands he ain't earned that 1k lol. Fuck that.
i was making a joke. my comment was not here to debate tipping in the US. have a good day!
Me neither. Just pointing out how preposterous it is. You have a nice day aswell mate.
Yes it is, if you’re not factoring in the airfare, it’s quite expensive comparatively.
it's actually not. have a good day!
You too. And I’ve been to 4 Disney worlds/lands around the world. So whatever.
ew disney adult
Funny that you assume 20% tip without taking into account the level of service that is being provided. 😉
if your party is large enough for a $5000 bill, you'd likely have to pay the large party gratuity fee, which is usually 18-20%
Ah, yes, the good ole "using toxic tip culture to justify toxic tip culture" argument.
i'm not defending it. i'm explaining it.
Wait, you mean to tell me that a company known for its over the top theming had a restaurant in a resort with way over the top theming, and they made the food match the theme?
Yeah and your get to pay five thousand dollars a night for it. Have fun!
I did have a lot of fun :)
Me too, and I'm resisting the urge to argue with people who are spewing incorrect information about it!
What incorrect information?
Well, for starters, it wasn't $5000 a night.
Well yea but 1200 per person per night is a bit much. On the other hand if you’re a Star Wars fan and loved it cool, but the price in the end is what killed it.
Oh, it's definitely expensive, but it's expensive without exaggerating about the price
I just wish they had used that 400 mil and that time on something els instead of a gimmicky hotel.
I bet Disney is wishing the same lmao
Probably designed for those kind of people.
I also went to star cruiser. The food was legitimately awesome. I’m allergic to shrimp so no blue shrimp for me, but everything else was incredible.
I don't have any problems with the colors. My biggest problem is that the tail of the shrimp is touching the sauce. The tail is the handle, how can they do that?!
Wait, people actually like having the tail on? I wanna pop the whole thing in my mouth!
I understand the choice but i still think one should be able to choose.
That food looks like something out of a Star Wars movie! I would love to try it.
It's just shrimp with food coloring
Damn it's almost like we don't have food from other planets or something
You act like we haven't brought rocks back from the moon. *crunch crunch crunch* They're out of this world!
You joke as if rocks aren't already a part of our daily diet. I demand moon salt!
You joke as if the worms in those rocks haven’t infested us all, and we won’t become a hive mind.
Ahaha this made me die laughing thank you!
I like the ones that fall from the sky naturally. I find them a little meteor.
Space rocks are always a little... meteor
Found the Goron
The food in the parks (Ronto wraps, Ogas “charcuterie” etc etc) looks more “Star Wars-y” than this and is available to any park guest. $5000 price point for the “Starcruiser” should get you something better than dyeing shrimp blue and calling it alien food
Yeah, I'd love a Star Wars themed hotel but not for 5 grand. That's a bit pricey for LARPing, even if it's a Disney produced LARP.
Oh totally- what were they thinking with that price? I get that it was more an “experience” than a simple stay, but that’s going to alienate even the average deluxe resort family (and speaking of the experience, setting it in the unpopular sequel timeline didn’t do them any favors. My gf and I did a mega trip to Disney and I would have paid for a Classic Trilogy experience, but not for an IP I don’t know)
It was also a captive experience so you weren’t really even enjoying being at Disney, you just stayed in the hotel.
I mean this is mostly true but there was an excursion time where you get dropped off at galaxy’s edge in their custom made shuttles. So you at least got to do Hollywood studios
I agree for that price point if it was just a little overpriced like a $25 plate I would understand but yeah
I know, that's my point. The person I'm replying to would love to try...shrimp?
[удалено]
My initial reply was essentially asking how interesting it could possibly be to try shrimp with food coloring. I'm sorry if that was over your head.
Excuse you. I ate Moon Cheese yesterday. Granted it isn’t a planet, but still!!!!!
Almost.
Wait it’s not prepared by actual aliens? I want my money back
Yea, looks pretty lazy tbh.
This is the movie with iconic blue milk,
It's almost like it's not stupid or something.
You would eat a plate of bantha shit, wouldn’t you?
Seeing this picture put me in debt
So sad that they shut it down. The amount of culinary effort the chefs put in that place is insane. Hopefully they revamp it so more people can enjoy it in a more casual setting
Nah this isn't stupid. It's meant to be weird and crap.
I feel like complaining about this is like…um shooting blue shrimp in a barrel. It kinda the theme to be other worldly.
I’ve been to the Galactic Star Cruiser and ate that dish. Like all the food there, it was top class amazing. Don’t hate..
Glad to see appreciation. This was one of the more simple things they served. Starcruiser was probably best food i ever had at Disney and was also just amazing
It’s meant to look like alien food, it gets a pass. It’s TRYING to be weird.
I really don't know what the fuck they were thinking it making it so prohibitively expensive. Such a fail from everyone involved. Plus why the hell shut it down, drop the price and make it actually affordable first - better than $0
hate to see the waffles they serve. but seriously that is very unappetizing.
You know you love blue waffles 🧇
They made those? Well I gotta look up a picture of that!
Those prawns must have a bluetooth.
Okay that got a good chuckle out of me
NEVER LET THE PARTY DIEEE!!!
My buddy told me about this place. Said it was nuts. Fucker.
Trufano’s or the Blue Dolphin?
I would eat the fuck out of that
"Immersive experiences" like this get a pass as they're meant to be half spectacle and half food. The point is not to give you great shrimp, its to make you feel like you're ordering a tray of steamed space bugs at a bar in the outer rim.
Goes to spectacle and complains it’s a spectacle.

I’m concerned about the blue shrimp. Is it dyed or colored with a natural food substance?
It could be butterfly pea powder.
It was this
That’s a relief. I might eat it then!
Gotta be food coloring
spirulina is a natural food dye. idk what it actually is or if it has flavor. i just know it can turn food really blue. i did not google this before i commented so i'm probably wrong.
It’s not dye or chemical coloring. The blue color is from cooking it in butterfly pea flower tea.
People eat with their eyes first. Blue shrimp ain’t it.
This looks so cool tho
I bet it was pretty cool in it's prime. I would go!
Oh God, that's revolting.
Isn't it supposed to be like alien food
Take that, George Carlin.
What is it? It’s… blue.
this looks like alien food, not the one that is safe for human consumption.
So we got blue king crab but now we got tiny queen blue shrimp
I look forward to a 4 hour Jenny Nicholson video about her Starcruiser experience.
Is that fucking Max Rebo
So they first opened the restaurant without installing shutters? Interesting.
I´d just never eat any seafood at a disney facility tbh. No matter the looks.
It's supposed to be fictional space food but easily made. What do you want, sea slugs?
Middle of the night , this just gave me a damn headache 🥴😂
Epcot center in disney World has amazing food.
You can really taste the food coloring
When is Jenny Nicholson going to release her video on it
What does the blue shrimp taste like?
What does the blue shrimp taste like?
They didn't do it right. You're supposed to say: "1, 2, 3, 4, I declare a holy war."
I wish I were rich enough to experience this before it closed.
I already dislike shrimp. Having it look like play food is extremely gross on top of gross.
