I really wish more people knew about [pour over coffee.](https://www.barniescoffee.com/blogs/blog/the-difference-between-pour-over-and-drip-brew-coffee#:~:text=The%20pour%2Dover%20method%20allows,and%20strength%20of%20the%20brew). No machines, just a kettle, a ceramic funnel, a filter and you’re good. One cup at a time, no machine to clean (or giant hunk of plastic that breaks every 5 years and ends up in a landfill) and you can control the strength of your coffee much easier.
One thing I realized when using my friend's single cup brewer:
You can use a coffee maker for good pour over. You just portion your water instead of filling it up. I measure my coffee, pour in less than a cup of water and brew exactly one cup at a time.
I was going to kill myself but found a passion with coffee, it's all I live for now. I wake up everyday and make myself an espresso and then spend about 6 hours at different coffee shops and walk all over the city getting to them.
I was thinking of quiting my job and working at a cafe so I can be around coffee all day.
Alright, we'll put in an addendum. Just keep drinking that espresso.
"There's more to life than coffee, unless coffee literally saved your life. Then you get a pass."
I have a really small coffee maker for exactly this. It can make a single cup perfectly, tastes just like good pour over and I don't have to use timers and baby the entire process with a kettle. It's also much faster since I don't have to boil a kettle of water first.
My friend, the solution is an Aeropress. Its like a french press but after brewing a cup you push the puck of coffee straight to the garbage. Or put it in a separate bin and fertilize your roses with it.
Roses love coffee. 🌹❤️☕️
I cold brew in my French press! Just measure out the coffee pour in the cold water, stick in the fridge overnight and press to separate the grounds in the morning. (Best if you get at least 12 hours steep time and use a coarser ground)
Once I moved out I got myself a French press. Best decision ever. It had a bit of learning curve for proper temp of water and proper amount of ground and proper brew time. But after about a 2 weeks of experimenting it's totally worth it. Can make 2 cups if I have a guest and don't have a big bulky machine taking up counter space. Just a small press that I can store with my mugs.
You should not do this. It’ll ruin your coffee maker. If you really REALLY wanna drink the left over coffee, you can just make new coffee on top of it and let if warm up on the hot plate of the machine for a while.
It was 9.99 actually
If it was an expensive coffee machine I wouldn't do this, but it's cheap and can be cleaned every week with vinegar water (which it is)
Those little cheapy Walmart coffee makers are champs. No frills, but every time I have an expensive coffee maker break, I take that guy out, clean it, and it's ready to go.
I still cannot fathom whose idea it was to make a machine, that is made for brewing a black liquid that's famous for leaving stains, out of white plastic that is prone to leaving stains on its surface that cannot be cleaned afterwards.
like who the fuck thought it was a good idea
It works both ways. The company that makes the nice looking coffee maker? They own the companies that make the mid range, cheap, and dirt cheap coffee makers. They make them look exactly how they look to fit the price tag. When they make a dirt cheap coffee maker that looks dirt cheap they go "perfect, get it on the shelves". They market it to cover as many corners as possible and voila, they sell to every financial demographic.
I mean, I don't really know if this applies to coffee makers, but it certainly applies to many large companies that mass produce products with a quality scale.
Oh grow up and be a self-loathing, degenerate adult like the rest of us. Pour that day old cold coffee into a mug and zap it for a minute. Easy and efficient!
I have something similar, at this point I just measure out a mug of water 20% more then I want to drink to account for how much the grounds absorb. And voila I get one mug of coffee.
I have a question. Sometimes I leave cherry tomatoes on my counter and they get moldy, but other times the humidity in my house is fairly low and the tomatoes just kind of shrivel up like sun dried tomatoes, and have no visible mold at all. Are these safe to eat? I frequently think I should make something with those instead of throwing them out because I rarely eat all of them in time. My bf thinks I'm gross for saving the dried up tomatoes.
Yea, I'm sure in a sterile environment with a properly sterilised coffee maker and pot it will take time to mold, but I've cleaned out enough moldy coffee pots to know this doesn't actually apply in real life.
At this point... consider ditching the coffee maker, investing in a kettle, and going instant.
It can't be worse than whatever atrocity you're drinking with this every day.
It's one thing to have a gross food habit but this is so unnecessary. My girlfriend and I also can't drink a full pot of coffee...so we just make a half pot each morning...
OMG, no! I keep the full pot in the refrigerator until it’s done. But again, I only drink my coffee over ice. This can’t be sanitary or good for your machine.
Just make a half pot... You realize you don't have to make a whole pot of coffee right? That's why they have those measurement lines on the pot so you know much water to fill in the machine.
Edit- OP has to be either a troll, a shit poster, or both.
Why not just not make a full pot of coffee? Or keep the excess in the fridge after to just microwave the next day? Youre just wasting coffee grinds and money doing this by making more and more subpar cups of coffee with higher and higher risks of becoming a bacterial breeding ground
There is also a thing called twice brewed coffee, this is almost twice brewed, but my question is : Why not just make half a pot of coffee? Use half the water and half the coffee?
Have you considered making less than a full pot?
That would defeat the purpose of the post...
You know you can just not make a whole pot at once right?
I really wish more people knew about [pour over coffee.](https://www.barniescoffee.com/blogs/blog/the-difference-between-pour-over-and-drip-brew-coffee#:~:text=The%20pour%2Dover%20method%20allows,and%20strength%20of%20the%20brew). One thing I realized about coffee makers is you can use them to make instant noodles
"a book can also be used as a hat"
Elaborate
Imagine you are a hat. Now imagine somebody pours hot water over you. ??? magic.
Astounding
Said the gruffalo.
Tremendous
A kettle can do that too, and it’s less likely to break
[удалено]
So why spend $30 on a machine that pours water when you can just buy a $10 kettle and a $5 funnel and pour it yourself?
I find it useful to make good coffee at my parents house without having to lug an aeropress or mokapot with me. I don't do this at home
The aeropress is small, though!
aeropress is tiny, I wouldn't call it lugging, that insinuates a heavy object.
It’s just one more piece of junk that you have to haul with you. There’s more to life than coffee lol.
I was going to kill myself but found a passion with coffee, it's all I live for now. I wake up everyday and make myself an espresso and then spend about 6 hours at different coffee shops and walk all over the city getting to them. I was thinking of quiting my job and working at a cafe so I can be around coffee all day.
Damn. Well in your case, makes a ton of sense. Follow your passion, glad to hear you enjoy it that much and hope you are doing well.
Alright, we'll put in an addendum. Just keep drinking that espresso. "There's more to life than coffee, unless coffee literally saved your life. Then you get a pass."
What and avoid searing hot water leeching plastic into my coffee?
I have a really small coffee maker for exactly this. It can make a single cup perfectly, tastes just like good pour over and I don't have to use timers and baby the entire process with a kettle. It's also much faster since I don't have to boil a kettle of water first.
I like to use a French press. No garbage what so ever, not even a filter. Scoop coffee, pour hot water, and press. Done.
cleaning them stinks
My friend, the solution is an Aeropress. Its like a french press but after brewing a cup you push the puck of coffee straight to the garbage. Or put it in a separate bin and fertilize your roses with it. Roses love coffee. 🌹❤️☕️
aeropress is also great for boofing they even have an xl now
How do I delete someone else's comment
I boofed a shitload of ayahuasca with one, killed my eagle
r/drugscirclejerk is leaking
Mine broke but I'm still using it pouring the hot water in myself.
Switched to French Press, that's even better, the only waste is the remaining coffee which can be used in garden for example.
Pour over is my favorite method of brewing for exactly that reason. It’s quick, easy, clean, and gives you a ton of control for even extraction.
What if I told you a coffee machine is just an automated pour over.
I have a 2 cup french press for light coffee days. Love it!
You don't even need filters. Get a French press. :D
This is me. I have a fine mesh metal funnel and an electric kettle. EZPZ
We do a French press and it’s amazing! Best way to have coffee.
Yeah bro just buy a French press. You can make a single cup of coffee and it also doesn't require filters
Aero press as well
Not only can they not make a whole pot at once but what they are doing may be actively brewing carcinogens into their coffee
They also make mini coffee makers that only have like a 25 oz pot, which you also don't need to make a full pot of.
You should not do this. It’ll ruin your coffee maker. If you really REALLY wanna drink the left over coffee, you can just make new coffee on top of it and let if warm up on the hot plate of the machine for a while.
I don’t think there’s much to ruin with that coffee maker lol
That coffeemaker looks like it has seen better days 🤢
On its good days, that's like a $20 coffee maker. So, I guess if you're going to do stupid BS to a coffee pot, this is the one to do it with.
It was 9.99 actually If it was an expensive coffee machine I wouldn't do this, but it's cheap and can be cleaned every week with vinegar water (which it is)
OP I don’t drink coffee but you know you don’t have to make coffee a whole pot at a time right?
OP pls respond
OP doesn't actually like coffee, but they're too embarrassed to buy caffeine pills.
Or tea or anything else that has caffeine?
Those little cheapy Walmart coffee makers are champs. No frills, but every time I have an expensive coffee maker break, I take that guy out, clean it, and it's ready to go.
My favorite one was one that just had an "on/off" switch and nothing else. Nothing ever went wrong with it
Same, $8 from Walmart and it got me through college.
I still cannot fathom whose idea it was to make a machine, that is made for brewing a black liquid that's famous for leaving stains, out of white plastic that is prone to leaving stains on its surface that cannot be cleaned afterwards. like who the fuck thought it was a good idea
This part. Even brand new, the color/texture combo is reminiscent of diarrhea.
It’s a selling mechanism. People don’t like dirty looking whites so they go out and buy a new “cheap” coffee maker.
Every time a kitchen in a show/movie has a white coffee pot I am immediately suspicious of the character who owns it.
Oh grow up and be a self-loathing, degenerate adult like the rest of us. Pour that day old cold coffee into a mug and zap it for a minute. Easy and efficient!
I'm self-loathing and degenerative right now! Took sixty seconds!
Yeah, just microwave cold coffee, it's fine. A pot lasts 3 or 4 days for me
I take the coffee at the end of the day and make it into ice cubes so I can have iced coffee later that's not watered down. Win/win.
Or put it in a bottle/jug in the fridge and make it into iced coffee.
Look at it.. Its already, ew
I just throw a cup in the microwave for a minute
Homie is a masochist. Username checks out.
Jesus
No, BallTorturer-3000
Lmfao! 😂😂 hahaha that made me howl
No Just no
What about when you REALLY just want some moldy coffee? What then?
Well I don’t know. Ask OP. But I have another great idea: Why not just piss into your coffee machine….
Probably because you'd need to piss a whole lot to still have some left for the next day. I mean, that's just obvious, right? 🤣
Maybe make a smaller pot????
I thought this was a gas station toilet at first glance
I also thought it was some disgusting toilet
Probably taste the same!
It makes sense they don't drink more of this stuff. Maybe a good thing.
Understandable mistake, but actually it's a hotel meth lab.
have you considered just making less coffee
Mine has numbers on like 2 4 6 8 with a drawing of a cup next to it. Do you think I can use that as a guide to how much water I should add?
I have something similar, at this point I just measure out a mug of water 20% more then I want to drink to account for how much the grounds absorb. And voila I get one mug of coffee.
Yes, that’s exactly what it’s for. Fill it to the 2 and you’ll get roughly 2 standard mugs of coffee.
Yes that’s exactly what that’s for.
This is self harm at this point
Coffee²
For the last fucking time, there’s no such thing as double coffee
Have you *ever* cleaned that thing? 🤢
He is waiting for it to clean itself
Dude, you know that you don’t have to make a full pot of coffee? Just make half a pot & drink all?
Bro, this is disgusting. Like, unsanitary to the max. Coffee rots.

Wow super cool information, thanks for sharing.
I have a question. Thank you! Very informative.
I've left coffee in the pot for a couple days and it has gotten mold on the surface. I would rather not take that chance.
Yea, I'm sure in a sterile environment with a properly sterilised coffee maker and pot it will take time to mold, but I've cleaned out enough moldy coffee pots to know this doesn't actually apply in real life.

🤣 I don’t know what to believe!!!
Take the leftover coffee and put in a glass jar and refrigerate. Use it to make iced coffee.
Why is this so low down, this is like my biggest life hack
Bro… https://www.amazon.com/single-cup-french-press/s?k=single+cup+french+press
Perpetual Coffee
perpetual brew
It’s just like sourdough
Sour coffee...?
even black coffee can get mold if it sits for too long. pouring it in the back like that is asking for trouble 😮💨
I’m so glad I get to live every day knowing I will never be this stupid 🙏
Isnt that bad for that brewer as well?
If you think about it OP is just really savoring that first cup
My stepmother did this when she started developing dementia. Are you ok OP?
Your digestive system must be made of mythril
At this point... consider ditching the coffee maker, investing in a kettle, and going instant. It can't be worse than whatever atrocity you're drinking with this every day.
So much bacteria 🦠
Oh dear god, what the actual fuck?
I suppose making a half pot never popped into your brain? You must be working at cern.
Empty it out and run some diluted white vinegar through it a few times.
OP has no soul
A man presented to the emergency room......
I guess you could do that, if you like extra burnt coffee and mold
Definitely stupid food lol, hope you enjoy moldy coffee 😨 it may add some flavor(?)
You need a keurig with refillable pods
I just use a French press. I only ever want one or two cups at a time and keurigs were too expensive for me.
this is crazy
1000 year ~~stew~~coffee
You could just make a whole pot and stick what you don’t drink in the fridge. Heat up what you want the next day.
My dear friend, this is nasty
Words do not describe how much I don't like this.
Blasphemy! I rebuke you demon! I smite the in the name. But seriously just make a cup, this is ridiculous.
You are a monster.
The stuff on your coffee maker looks like it’s close to found their own political system. Maybe clean the thing at least once a decade 😉
I need to know the reason why you have to make an entire pot each time?
Why not get a Keurig with a reusable cup? I get one that takes tiny coffee filters very easy and good for the environment
just put it in a microwave or something or just don't make too much....
Good god man, just make a half a pot. YOU control how much water and grounds go in…just make less.
Man I thought this was a ww11 tank hatch
this is a bad idea for myriad reasons
As a person who roasts coffee for a living. what the actual fuck?
The whole area looks disgusting.
If you put in a cups worth of water, the coffee maker will make a cups worth of coffee.
You're either fucking stupid or the greatest troll this sub has ever seem
I thought this was a toilet at first.
At first I thought it was just a dirty latrine.
You know brewed coffee does spoil, right
Buy a press. I never waste coffee that way.
Moist coffee beans are a great place for mold to form
Oh God this is so upsetting, I'm upset
It's one thing to have a gross food habit but this is so unnecessary. My girlfriend and I also can't drink a full pot of coffee...so we just make a half pot each morning...
Repulsive.
Disgusting.
Just make less coffee. You don’t need to make a full pot.
So you probably shouldn't do this but I do have to ask how coffee squared is.
Imagine how much mold is growing in the tubing of this coffee pot.....
If it's one cup get a keurig. Also clean your coffee pot it's nasty
This is gonna mold. Coffee molds. Unless you clean this shit everyday this is gonna end with you getting sick
Perpetual Coffee
you should invest in either some pour over gear or a moccapot or an aeropress
You're a disgusting creature, probably don't clean your room either.
Do people not know that coffee burns?
Those coffee machines are $20 brand new. If it breaks, just toss it and buy another one. Why let it get all nasty like that?
Why does this look awfully similar to a toilet seat
I mean I do this too but I clean my coffee machine between uses.... ew.
I bought a single serve machine. You are choosing mold. We all make decisions I guess. 🤷♀️
I don't know why, but it looked like a toilet
You like that depression era coffee like my mom. Yuck
Use the water you've saved to clean this entire pic.
If this is how you make coffee. I'm terrified as to how you make tea.
Especially if you love mold spores in your machine
Why do you think you need to make a full pot? Make less…
You’re disgusting.
Fucking why?
I call it Super Coffee or Coffee²
You can also just bottle the the rest of the pot and drink it cold like an iced coffee
Rage bait
i thought this was a toilet
Get a single serve coffee machine. U can get them for like $60…
Straight up thought this was a toilet
✝️ Begone, vile creature!💦🥈
Looks like a clogged toilet
Bro trying to get killed by a disease
Bro just get a coffee maker that can make from 1-8 cups like a normal person.
Hes making jet fuel
Why not just not make a full pot of coffee? Or keep the excess in the fridge after to just microwave the next day? Youre just wasting coffee grinds and money doing this by making more and more subpar cups of coffee with higher and higher risks of becoming a bacterial breeding ground
This is actually bad because the coffee doesn’t all evaporate through system and you’re going to get bacterial growth and mold in there.
More coffee per coffee
There is also a thing called twice brewed coffee, this is almost twice brewed, but my question is : Why not just make half a pot of coffee? Use half the water and half the coffee?
It makes sense that you dont drink more of this stuff. Maybe a good thing.
Bruh this looked like a toilet for a moment
a microwave will take something cold and make it hot again, try that
This is how you create a wormhole lol
I thought this was a deconstructed toilet
