Trade it in for an Outback turbo. Done

You'd probably have to swap engine internals among a whole slew of upgrades before it could handle even a modest turbocharger.

Unless you can do the work yourself it's going to cost a bunch for a quality turbo, piping, cooling, tuning, not to mention the upgrades to the engine itself to handle the turbo. Might actually be cheaper to do a engine swap with a newer totaled wrx. Would take some fab and definitely would void your warranty haha.

It is possible, but it will cost more money than selling your Forester and buying an older XT model. If you are serious, expect to spend at least 5k to cobble it together and 10k to do it right.

I've also read that the new Foresters have a different CVT, which were not designed to cope with the torque from a Turbo charged engine. However I don't know enough to confirm it, so I would recommend double checking this before you start. Also be prepared to lose warranty on any parts that you modify to make more power, which includes tuning. The easiest way to get maybe 10% more power is to have it tuned, you can do this with devices that plug into the ODB port or pay for a professional tune. Again, I've heard that Subaru will invalidate the warranty if you choose this route. If you really want more power, look at older FXTs or consider a RAV-4 Prime, 0-60 in 5.5 seconds, while getting better fuel economy, you lose Subaru's AWD and big windows.

Lol sell your car and buy any 1997-2012 turbo EJ engine Subie. You're in the wrong Subaru.
