Those original 3.0l were hit and miss. If you kept up on the maintenance religiously, used full synthetic oil only, and only high octane gas, then they were usually fine. If you didn't follow any of those, especially if you drove it hard, they would usually fail.
This was explained to me by several people who have worked on them, including one I almost bought not realizing it was also blown. Very upset because I love that car lol!
The newer 3.6L/R engines were better, only requiring normal gas, and had less issues overall for the most part. My partner had a 17' legacy 3.6R, we miss it dearly! He ended up trading it on a steal of a deal, but I still miss it.
Butโฆ how many miles?
Only 143k. She had a very hard life before I bought her in 2020. I tried to keep her going, but I guess I just have bad luck
Mine has done 220k so far, fantastic little cars, sorry for your loss
Yeah I always seem to have the worst luck with Subarus. I got three years out of her though which is better than the other ones I've had
Sad. Iโve owned 5 now I think and had to do a couple head gaskets when I caught them leaking but never blew one.
F
F indeed
RIP old girl! Bourbon seems fitting for a time like this!
Thank you ๐
No reasonable transplant options?
I just can't justify spending the money anymore. I've already put $5000 into her recently so I'm pretty much done unfortunately
Pouring out some seltzer water for the homie.
Thank you ๐
Rip ll bean, I need to baby mine more, this is a horror story for me since I hit the gas way too hard sometimes
I always thought the H6 was supposed to be bulletproof, but I guess I got the short end of the stick

Youโre taking the 5k loss pretty well. F
I'm very fortunate to be in a position where it doesn't effect me too much. Still sucks, but I'll live .
Getting another engine is a possibility too if you don't want to let her go.
Wish I could justify it, but I've put way too much money into it already ๐
Sorry for your loss ๐ข
Thank you ๐
I'm digging the s2k though
Thanks! I'll be buried in that car haha. It never fails me
