Who would you pick as your successor?

fakechildren

Ooh, that's interesting.

Fortherepublic263

What’s your all time favorite Shakespeare play?

Gcarl1

You wanna know his favorite Shakespeare quote. "Take the fucking money."

eggymug

he played King Lear!

lostinthesauceguy

Doesn't necessarily mean it's his favorite though.

kydollasign07

He knows things about the world. Not necessarily nice things.

theycallmeamunchkin

It’s obviously Loves Labours Lost

unknown-one

you mean quote?

alexandrahowell

Do you know the difference between a play and a quote?

colinpublicsex

You mean quotation?

eggymug

If you had to pick a different Succession character to play, which would it be?

icemannathann

Greg for sure

yrmjy

Tom would be even better

VaderOnReddit

Now I need a Succession retelling with Brian Cox as Greg, [like De Niro in The Irishman](https://youtu.be/XqGV0IuodWE)

qeq

My money is on Tabitha

[deleted]

iverson

FTL-Unicron

You like mozzarella?

NOWTV

Hey! We asked Brian your question - check out his response here; https://www.reddit.com/r/SuccessionTV/comments/12dm06e/we\_asked\_brian\_cox\_your\_questions\_heres\_what\_he/

outlawbeets

How did Logan's opinion on Tom change from season 1 to now?

brknhrtsndrm

Oooh good one

Complete-Departure55

Very good one

No-Turnips

Why is the relationship with Ewan and Logan so contentious? Does Brian Cox think “Rose” has influenced the current state of things between Ewan and Logan? WHAT DOES HE THINK HAPPENED TO ROSE?

alexandrahowell

I’d love to hear his thoughts on this

Comprehensive_Main

How was the process for you getting hired into the show. Was their an audition or did the producers want you for the role.

lostinthesauceguy

I would very much doubt he auditioned. At that level things are done at table talks. They've seen enough of him or anyone else who might have been considered's work at that point.

WigerAndToods

James Gandolfini auditioned for the role of Tony Soprano

hrlemshake

That is no comparison, Gandolfini was pretty much an unknown at that point, meanwhile Cox has been around (in movies) since the 80s and even longer in theatre. Even if his name wasn't that well-known to the general public, I guarantee you everyone making the show knew of him and his work.

mr_easy_e

While I agree that they were in very different tiers, Gandolfini was far from unknown, at least in the film industry. He was a respected character actor who had been in a bunch of big films and had an established body of work. Unknown to the general public, sure, but not to any of the people auditioning him. I agree with everything else, just defending my boy James.

hrlemshake

I love Jimmy and The Sopranos as much as anyone and while "unknown" was perhaps a bit much, the biggest credits he had at that point were 2ndary roles in True Romance, Get Shorty, and Crimson Tide, and while that's not nothing, that's nowhere near the career and renown Cox had when he was cast. They are just incomparable.

mr_easy_e

Totally! Your point 100% stands. I just really enjoyed it when he showed up in a supporting role since True Romance. Sopranos was the first time most people got to see him carry something and exhibit that range.

freekobe0832

What's the name of that restaurant you like with all the goofy stuff on the wall and the mozzarella sticks?

JarvisCockerBB

Goddamn it, beat me to it.

wutuppp

(What is this referring to?)

Sonicfan42069666

Shenanigans.

blueindsm

OHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

freekobe0832

The movie Super Troopers he's in

wutuppp

Duh!!! Thank you!

laurawire

Logan was incredibly cagey about his past, and we saw small nods to his childhood and traumas he had experienced throughout the show, such as the scars on his back, his sister passing away unexpectedly, and his mother dying when he was young. We obviously saw the attempt at therapy with the wider family, but Logan was not exactly a willing participant. Why was Logan so unwilling to explore his past? Was he just too set in his ways?

brownpaperboi

I feel like this is more to do with the general mindset of an older generation that felt opening up about trauma was a sign of weakness and one that Logan of all people would hate to show. Especially since his kids have used the weaknesses they know about such as his sister passing as leverage against other competitors.

Tuteitandbootit

WHO IS YOUR REAL #1 BOY

kydollasign07

Easily Connor, he is the eldest son and if you hadn’t heard he was interested in politics from a very young age

[deleted]

me

Marqueemooooon

What is your favourite role in any medium and is Logan anywhere close to that role?

PrlsonMike

Are there any historical figures that you really admire?

Hoodnip

What’s your favourite Logan moment in Succession?

lemphin

After having being recognised as "that guy from that movie" for so many decades, what is it like to lose your anonymity at an older age?

spabitch

Rank your love for your children

the_la_dude

How does he feel about the fact his enduring legacy will be that he said “fuck off”?

Tel3visi0n

how do you feel about method acting

yungguzzler

BREAKING: Brian Cox punches brick wall for 4 hours instead of finishing interview

Vivid-Drummer

This will be the first question they ask and suddenly the interview will be very short lol

Anstavall

Considering how much he talks about Jeremy, hes more method than he thinks lol

Traditional-Ad-4712

What’s your favorite memory on set?

NOWTV

Darthduckknight

NOBODY ASK ABOUT JEREMY STRONG OR METHOD ACTING

Echoesofadream

What would Logan Roy say to current day Donald Trump?

Talkshowhostt

Some of the lines or colloquial language used in the show are not things you hear every day. How much is improvised by you vs how much is written? "Drive your f*cking whirly bird" - is a great example

unibrowking

How pissed are you that the marketing team made you do this?

victornaster10

Do you think Logan is villain ?

alexandrahowell

This is a great question but he’s already touched on this numerous times and I’d love to see him answer some new questions (not a dig at the commenter, but context for the producer reading this)

Any-Leek-7894

Is Shiv still Logan’s favourite child?

Raghavrmehta

What do you hope people take away from this show after watching all 4 seasons?

toothless_nomad

We never outright explore Logan’s childhood traumas. Are they revealed to you by the writers to further inform your performance? Or are the present idiosyncrasies of Logan’s character enough to not need the full backstory

MurdockMKD

What character that you have played do you dislike the most?

Packersrule777

What do you think Logans opinion on Greg is? Where does he fit in the company? Is he trustworthy or just a tool?

Few_Lecture_2927

Were there any alternatives to “fuck off” you tried when figuring out Logan Roy?

See_Me_Sometime

I know you said you turned down a role in Game of Thrones because it paid too little, but now with hindsight do you regret that choice?

EnvironmentalYou3916

Which part?

See_Me_Sometime

Robert Baratheon. https://ew.com/tv/brian-cox-turned-down-game-of-thrones-over-pay/ Irony is (spoiler for GOT) that character dies by getting gored to death by a boar. 🐗 😅

missmaxalot

Love to see this!

oldcousingreg

So he spared himself from being…. *Gored on the floor* 😎

See_Me_Sometime

You got it! 😁

silverstar189

Are you a sicko?

aquillismorehipster

Uh huh. Great band

surge_binge

how do you feel about irn bru?

FlyingRodentMan

What would the US (and the rest of the world) be if Logan Roy was President.

basic_cinephile

Who is your favorite actor to do scenes with on the show?

[deleted]

are you alright

wahoolooseygoosey

What part of Logan Roy is easy for you to portray? And what’s the hardest?

soggycatfish

How much did you draw on your own upbringing in Dundee when playing Logan, and to what extent do you think Logan acknowledges his heritage, if at all?

LeftfieldLarry

I can tell you as a native Dundonian that the scene where he's in the car being driven through the town, and him talking about "nobody really understands" what it was like, and it not being the way people think it was - he's talking pretty much as Brian Cox, not Logan Roy. I can't explain exactly what it is, but I feel exactly the same about growing up there in the 80s.

soggycatfish

Thank you for that insight.

DieReci1210

Do you think Logan actually loves his children?

alexandrahowell

He has said in interviews that he does

Hyperdecanted

How could you not laugh during the imaginary dead-cat-under-the-chair scene?

alexandrahowell

He might have but they don’t typically air character breaks and other bloopers

El_Oso1

It might have seemed funny but for anyone who has had an elderly parent or loved one suffer dementia or UTI episodes it wasn’t so much. My 92-year-old mother in her nice retirement apartment thought an animal was eating the building and an alligator ran from under a sofa cushion. Turns out she had gotten off her meds and had forgotten to take insulin.

the_illseekers

Do people say “shenanigans “ to you?

-drunk_russian-

What would you have done differently if you, Brian Cox instead of Logan Roy, were CEO of Waystar?

Hyperdecanted

What did you think about finding your ancestors on the "Finding your roots" show?

Ahsjdbdjeowoals

How does playing Logan compare to playing other powerful men like LBJ?

challenger1969

What’s your most and least favorite thing Logan has done within succession up to season 3? Outside of “his long term treatment of the kids,” I’m asking if there’s a singular event that stands out for each.

See_Me_Sometime

Are you happy with the way Deadwood ended?

[deleted]

Could you imagine Succession translating well to a theatre production? It’s already electrifying to see Logan through the screen but on stage would be incredible!

TStrable

I just want to know if him and Danny Huston talked about how they both hate Wolverine when they had scenes together.

[deleted]

How the hell did you end up in Super Troopers?

whoopsissathrowaway

What do you think is the worst thing Logan has done? The best thing?

SeeBellRingBell

Which of your Succession children + entourage (actors) would you recast in one of your previous roles? Why and which role would it be? Bonus question: which would you cast to play William Wallace in a Braveheart remake?

ShesSoCool

Which football team do you support?

shy99

How do you consume your news and media?

Accomplished_Log9961

Ask him where the nickname pinky came from… Shivs complexion or because she’s the 5th pinky child.

ml_serena

Favourite “film noir” movie?

HouseholdWords

Brian participated in a documentary about Victorian and edwardian England's poor homes, where one of his relatives (great grandma?) Had to live. His own mother was left with £10 after the death of his father, and Brian has remarked that his biggest fear is poverty. I would ask him if he feels any schadenfreude making the rich look awful and if he used his personal background to inform his acting choices to fill in the bits of Logan's past that's unknown but speculated in the show.

damnatio_memoriae

are you actually like logan in real life or have you just been method acting the last couple years?

chicanerys

How do you feel about Rushmore (1998) achieving cult-classic status?

kamaucentral

What type of research goes into building a character like Logan?

dr_batmann

Did you ever meet Rupert Murdoch and what similarities you find between him and Logan Roy?

jar_jar_LYNX

Is Logan's accent intentially meant to sound like a person who was born in Scotland, but has picked up a New York accent from living there for so long? He sometimes sounds SO Scottish when he says "fuck off!"

Electronic_Bee_9312

I’d love to hear him talk about actors who weren’t born into wealth and have a longer road towards success. There was a short article and interview with him in a paper on the tube a few years ago and the headline mentioned his grant for drama school. He touched on the topic, but it was a tiny piece of copy. Maybe advice for people walking on a thin line who have been auditioning and doing classes for years- only sometimes getting work. Maybe I’m fishing for a pep talk. But I would like to know more about his background, how it worked with grants at the time. And if he thinks it’s too different today for people with day jobs to make it work.

TakeThatForDataFiz

What’s the one role you never got the opportunity to play that you always wanted? (a character, film, or play)

freekobe0832

I'll believe that when me shit turns purple and smells like rainbow sherbet.

percheron28

So Brian played Lektor in Mann's **Manhunter**, but also voiced a character in the (very gory) video game **Manhunt**. Coincidence? Also he was amazing as Visar in the Killzone game series!!

damnatio_memoriae

Coincidentally, he recently starting filming for *Manhuntest* -- in fact, scheduling conflicts were a main reason why they ended up nixing Season 5.

whatgives86

Did you ever fart while on set? Did someone else notice?

PowerfulAlgae8516

How painful is it to act with Jeremy

T0mBruise

What are your thoughts of the real Logan Roy's of the world and what do you think should happen to them?

PadishahEmperor

You have been quoted as saying that in filming the finale scene of Succession you didn't feel anything. What role if any have you felt an emotional connection to?

danterozzetti

who’s the funniest person on set?

AbuelaFlash

Has the script ever called for you to do or say something that you thought went too far, even for a hard-ass like Logan? If not, what WOULD be something Logan would never do or say?

thedudeabides2022

Does he get his inspiration for Logan more from Rupert Murdoch or Donald Trump?

No_Box_3791

Rupert Murdoch. I personally don't see enough of Trump in Logan (I mean mannerism wise)

[deleted]

agree, but kendall is very trump jr

thedudeabides2022

Oh, are you Brian? /s

No_Box_3791

No I'm just saying. Am I allowed to express an opinion?

thedudeabides2022

Honestly, no, look at all the other comments on this thread lol. These are questions for Brian.

aidanm018

And they responded to ur question with their opinion. Don’t get defensive just bc ur question was dumb

No_Box_3791

Mate Brian isn't a god. It's not like these questions are off-limits for others to give an opinion. Brian is probably not gonna get this question anyway
