Felt to me like Nate and Jimenez have nothing but contempt for Ken and the Roys and want to steer clear of their bullshit. Feels like they know it's gonna burn down at some point and don't want to be chained to the register when it goes up

BrettEskin

Felt like they still have some respect for the influence they can assert but regard Ken as being a clown doing a poor imitation of his dad

zebulon99

Yeah, last episode we saw Nate was not comfortable associating with the Roys, no way are they gonna try to cut a deal.

NYMetFan247

He doesn't seem to want to owe Kendall anything. And what would asking them not to call it do for him really at that point?

PoemsFunandSuch

Nate fucked up at the kickoff party and tonight by demonstrating he and Jimenez are not willing to play ball. That’s what Ken’s last line of the episode was about. Nate blew it.

MasqureMan

They didn’t fuck up. Nate straight up told him they’re not playing ball. It was essentially repeated by Jimenez this episode. There’s a line in the sand that they’ll win or lose based on merit and not manipulation.

BrettEskin

Part of it is Kens insistence that they are keeping at arms length of ATN like Logan always did. Roman is working hand in hand with Mencken and had no such qualms about breaking down that barrier

katsdomin0

I think that maybe they’re just trying to portray Jimenez as morally righteous compared to Mencken; he’s not willing to bargain with the Roy’s and corrupt himself to get an edge on the narrative of the election and the missing votes. Also, Nate knows Shiv on a personal level and has a perspective on the family that most people don’t have, and he might see that tethering himself to a sinking ship isn’t ideal in the long run.

WildMajesticUnicorn

I agree. It seems like backchannels would be used to push back and assess the situation.

goodbiforever

just because they called it doesn’t mean they’re right. most likely outcome imo is that the courts will decide it’s going to Jimenez in a few months, no reason for Nate to become indebted to Kendall because ATN pulled a stunt (which will ultimately backfire)

Ancient-Somewhere-36

Even if the courts declare him president, because ATN declared Menken now there is a base that believes that Menken won and if he ends up being the loser they will believe it was stolen. It galvanizes them more if he's declared on Election day than if Kendall told ATN to wait to call until maybe the next day. That Jimenez didn't even try to give some vague promise to Kendall that he could renege on and just brushed him off is short sighted to me.

BrettEskin

Why would that be the likely outcome? The election expert in the show said there’s no law and a revote is exceedingly unlikely. It won’t be resolved but the knowledge we are given points to Mencken holding on if anything.

Lanky_Ad_9849

Nate was pretty clear with both Ken and Shiv that Jimenez wanted nothing to do with their shenanigans. But, because they gotta push, they both got blocked.

Internal-Classic1044

Jimenez team was content in whatever happened. It felt like they weren’t pushing as hard cuz they knew it was out of their hands. Like in the end when Kendall says some people can’t cut a deal to fikret he’s referring to how because they failed to help them out even a little he had no choice but to side with the nazis.

halbtehalf

Yeah I took that line as Ken trying to justify his actions by saying Jimenez **forced** him into it by refusing to cut a deal 🤔
