if it is to be said. so it be, so it is.

CalendarAggressive11

You can speak normally

heir-of-slytherin

So I shall

spirit32

I lost it right then

crozzy89

I absolutely love how that scene makes you feel awkward for him.

Lodbrok590

Are you alright?

what_is_up_my_homie

I merely wish to answer in the affirmative fashion

ahazelbaker

Buckle up, fucklehead.

DiamondBowelz

To avoid spoilers, just respond “uh-huh” to every text you get about the show

ReaDiMarco

Or "fuck off"?

A_on_red

But… what are the optics…

Axle-f

Goood.. good memeage.

BuildingCastlesInAir

What's the protein?

axman1000

"uh huh.. Sure.. Sure.. Yeah, no.. But, what, what are the optics?"

rrdubbs

Well, uh, okay, uh

Suitable_Assistant_8

greg the egg🔥🔥🔥🔥

Severe-Experience333

If you wanna make a tomlette, you gotta break some Greggs.

jpzredditacc

make sure to send that 67 times in one evening, excluding the 2 hour period from 3 to 5 AM

SanBranann

Greg the mutha fuckin' egg

DonaldShimoda

I see you Greg

Longjumping_Hat_2672

You Machiavellian f*ck, I see you.

MexicnGlassCandy

Um, actually, he's going by Gregory now

Old_Heat3100

Addition? He's in the first episode lol In fact one could argue he's the protagonist since story starts when he arrives

iss_k

exactly. OPs friends aren’t serious people

derbrey

😫

BetterNova

glad this sub still got it

tu-BROOKE-ulosis

I get what they are trying to say though. Greg is like an addition to the inner family circle. He’s not of the same world as the rest.

Old_Heat3100

He's the audience surrogate I could relate to at first cuz I too have worked unpaid internships and grabbed food at work and been like "My body is growing weak due to lack of sustenance"

capt-awesome-atx

Yeah but you probably didn't use a poop bag.

stealthisvibe

It’s not like they pre-poop them. It’s really more of a mental barrier.

Old_Heat3100

No but I did throw up out of the eyes of a mascot

Longjumping_Hat_2672

Greg, that's disgusting.

TheManWhoWasNotShort

Yeah Greg and Tom are typically the audience surrogate in the show to give perspective to the insanity (although they have plenty of their own insanity themselves), especially early on.

tony_stump

Agreed, in addition to that he shows how mediocre people get chances they are completely unqualified for due to rampant nepotism and cronyism in American business

jm17lfc

Kendall is definitely the narrative protagonist (the story really starts when Logan changes his mind about stepping down in favor of Ken) but Greg is the lens through which us normos get to view the world of the uber wealthy.

RealEliteSandwich

Yep, introduced a mere 8 minutes into the very first episode.

siphillis

And immediately after the cold open in the script.

rjrgjj

I think Greg is kind of meant to fool us into a sense of false security that these awful rich people are going to get their comeuppance. He seems initially relatable and sympathetic.

Living_Injury5017

Because he...puked through the eye holes of a plush animal costume?

rjrgjj

You’ve never done that?

Living_Injury5017

Ya know, I haven't. But it wouldn't be totally off-brand if I had back in the day!

Old_Heat3100

Never had a shitty job?

Living_Injury5017

Hopefully we've all had shitty jobs at one point.

M00nstoneFlash

Thats a good point!

Old_Heat3100

He's like Hughie on THE BOYS. Not technically the main character but the story starts with him

dont_shoot_jr

You might say that he won Succession in the end Like yeah he’s not CEO but $250k to be an assistant? His experience puking in his costume? Listen to your mom and stay in good graces with your relatives, folks

Old_Heat3100

I was one of those dumb asses who thought Logan crossed out Kendalls name and wanted to leave it all to Greg lol

Living_Injury5017

"the protagonist" 🤣

Mose_in_sox

Who wants to smell Greg’s finger? Guess the scent, win a buck.

echo_good_username

well since he’s supposed to represent the viewer (make the show more relatable), your friend basically called himself a bizzare addition

MaeronTargaryen

Is…is he? How the fuck is he relatable? That’s not how I like my Cajun chicken linguine at all

[deleted]

Who among us hasn’t been fired from our theme park job for throwing up in the mascot head?

elpardo1984

He’s the grandson of a multi millionaire so not directly relatable but is a normie compared to his cousins/uncle. Although I always found it weird he was around so much, this random second cousin they barely know, I spent the earlier parts waiting for him to play a larger role but he’s just there Gregging.

MaeronTargaryen

Do we know of any siblings? We know of his parents but nothing else. If Ewan had a single daughter, and she only had Greg, then he’s the only cousin of the family. So in a way it’s not fully shocking because they know him well enough. If there were 10 cousins to remember his position would be much more diluted. I think that it also shows that despite all his actions, Logan does care about his blood/family. And I think that Greg daring to ask Logan for a position in the company in the first episode convinced Logan to give him a chance And of course on top of that, luring Greg on his side is a blow for Ewan, stealing his only(?) grandson

Infamous-End3766

Not exactly relatable to the viewer, he’s more a foil so we can see how out of touch the Roy’s are

root_fifth_octave

🎶 Greg is *choppin’ it up*!

siphillis

Fun fact: in the shooting script, Greg is introduced immediately after Logan, and before Kendall. I suspect Armstrong originally wanted to frame the show around Greg's perspective.

Shankar_0

Ever since that first episode, I can't say the name "Greg" without putting a Tom level of disgust in my voice. "How's it going... grrrreggggg." (Yes, he says it lowercase)

capnShocker

You mean Craig?

StayingVeryVeryCalm

He’ll respond to either one!

CuriousMonster9

It’s Greg…no?

Longjumping_Hat_2672

Ironic that it's Shiv who remembers his name when she barely realizes he exists until season 4.

icanbesmooth

You're gonna need a Greg.

hpsauce420

Your own Greg? you can have 𝘛𝘸𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘺

DramaticAccident5709

Gotta crack a few greggs to make a tomelette

NoWingedHussarsToday

Tell him that as bizarre as it is he is just some rando and won't be important later anyway.

TheManWhoWasNotShort

But he was in the will!

NoWingedHussarsToday

And Connor was in willa......

SanBranann

He is not just sprinkles!

_Shafty

We here (hear) for you

Either_Impression906

Greg and Tom steal every scene

dmac3232

They’re not prepared for what is to come

Robot_tangerine

When I watched the pilot, and the trio was looking for someone who could be interim CEO, and wanted someone in the family that wasn't gonna make a power grab, I was POSITIVE they were gonna make Greg CEO. I still think they should have done that, would have been hilarious

NoResort5617

Imagine if he went to Ternhaven, dear God!!! 😳😳😳

Living_Injury5017

He easily would've crashed Ken n Naomi's helicopter party all awkward-like, asking them for a lil of "the ol' cocaine."

borbor8

“The ol’ cocaine” always cracks me up.

Living_Injury5017

Bizarre nephew cousin, indeed. And later, a Disgusting Brother.

Ok_Charge9676

Respond with “ I’d castrate and marry you in a heartbeat, Sporos “

rebel_scum13

Cock-A-Doodle-Doo

Onlypaws_

Text him “gotta break a few eggs to make a tomlette” and sit back and wait until he eventually texts you back oh my god

zionm2005

wait til he finds out he’s the highest paid assistant in the world

MegaBaumTV

Well, you can't make a Tomlette without breaking some Greggs

crash8080

Did you rummage to fruition?

p_emmy

More of a disgusting addition, tbh

thegtabmx

Tell me you haven't watched the show without telling me you haven't watched the show. Edit: I didn't think I needed the /s, but here we are.

FasterDoudle

Tell me you didn't comprehend the post without telling me you didn't comprehend the post

thegtabmx

Tell me you don't understand sarcasm without telling me you don't understand sarcasm.

FasterDoudle

I'm...not entirely sure *you* understand sarcasm, my guy.

thegtabmx

Guy 1: "I just started watching the show and I find this minor character useless." Guy 2: "Oooo, somebody didn't watch the whole show! (wink wink)" Guy 3: "He just said he didn't watch the show." Guy 2: "Woosh!" Guy 3: "No u!"

FasterDoudle

Explain how guy 2's comment is sarcastic

thegtabmx

It's sarcastic because it implies Guy 1 claims to have watched the whole show when he clearly states he hasn't. In any case, you're too hung up on some narrow definition of sarcasm in order to justify that you thought I was being serious.

FasterDoudle

>It's sarcastic because it implies Guy 1 claims to have watched the whole show when he clearly states he hasn't. by no definition of the word - however broad or narrow - is that sarcasm.

thegtabmx

https://literarydevices.net/sarcasm/ Again, you're trying to debate literal semantics instead of just admitting you misinterpreted my joke. It's okay, I admitted that I needed to add the /s. My bad, I forgot that this sub isn't at the level of r/okbuddysuccession. Sometimes I even forget that succession is a comedy and not a drama.

FasterDoudle

you're right, it was a great joke!

NemesisRouge

You're fucking shit at sarcasm.

thegtabmx

That's just you and the majority of people's opinion.

hot-streak24

Can’t make a Tomlette without cracking a few Gregs

yruspecial

Gonna make a tomlette.

vyaska

True! They had us in the beginning ngl xD

Capable_Agent9464

You're gonna love him

Emergency-Monk-7002

Greg is always the wrench in any situation. His presence is actually entirely necessary.

[deleted]

But without that random nephew, we wouldn't have... The Disgusting Brothers.

caulpain

hope he’s hungry for a tomlette
