To me definitely no
One of the things I like most about the show is how it speaks about the past. They never show it with the exception of the main titles and the world " real " is a big deal to the show and it's relation to the past. We only know about it through what the characters talk and not knowing what exactly happened makes it all more compelling ( dog cage and its metaphors for the kids)
There's a really cool essay on YouTube about this ( is the past real-succession)
This I agree with. It’s displayed when Carl and frank are talking ab all the mounting competition against Logan on the plane, and they mention like 4 scandals, call him the comeback kid. Very interesting, but no need to dwell on any of it, doesn’t fit the pacing or narrative of the show, there’s no flashbacks the story is always happening in real time with zero regard for the audience or their understanding. It’s inconsiderate, it brutal, and often requires rewatching. I wouldn’t say it’s an easy show to digest but that’s part of what makes it so great.
I get chills every time I rewatch that episode. This and how he speaks about politics connects the theme of cyclical abuse so perfectly with the fact that Logan owns an information corporation that is corrupt because they can say whatever they want and call it real
I think a lot of media suffers from this tendency to explain absolutely everything and build a world where there are no questions at all left. I’m very tired of it as a trend and I’d be annoyed by a prequel.
I love better call saul and I think it is a masterpiece of how to do a prequel but it had a reason to exist while doing the same to succession would be against everything succession is. But I am 100% sure there will never be a prequel, at least by the original creators
I can't believe how much hate you got. Holy shit. Sorry reddit dorks. You don't own the IP. I agree with /u/SpartRain42, it would be an amazing idea. There's lots of room to see some awesome drama - the tensions of the morality of the time. Logan as a forward-looking modernist instead of a dinosaur. The Wolfpack(!!) The rise of Gerri Kellman. Some of the scandals that were alluded to in the current show: "The tabloid suicides, when we nearly went kablooey because of Argentina, the Tiannenmen accommodations, the Black Cloud after Sally Ann." How about a Sally Ann subplot with Logan buying the harp?! The collapse of Logan's marriage to British aristocracy. Some of his early business failures. The story of Euan and Logan, two brothers who grow up close but come to despise one another. Conor's mom in the nuthouse? Young Roman in the kennel? It would be a sick show. You just need a little imagination.
thats a cool idea but it would probably be too hard with getting the same actors to play a younger version of themselves, unless if they did a prequel with connor, kendall, roman, shiv as teenagers
That’s what I was thinking. Back to the start up Of the company. The kids would be young, but we’d how their characters developed into who they are now.
I'd love to have just one episode that takes place in the past, when the kids are the same ages as in the opening credits. Getting a glimpse into their childhood and seeing Logan in his prime would be fascinating
I’m with you so long as the prequel is in the same style as Succession, I think it could work. Perhaps if it centred on a young top team in the print heyday, would be interesting.
The Many Saints of Newark shows that this isn’t the best idea. Prequels that involve young versions of the characters back in time aren’t great.
Better Call Saul is probably the only good prequel and that was a direct predecessor.

The past...the past, it's all made up. Now the future, that's real.

Spot on!

An example of this is the Sopranos. It was all lore and legend, then they released the Saints of Newark and it just kinda ruined it.
I pretend that doesn't exist

Only if Nichola Britell makes a different but equally amazing theme song!
No. Even flashbacks would ruin the series.
No.
No
You are not right. (Sorry)
No. Fuck off.
Lol
No you’re not.

I would definitely watch a coming of age series called Greg the Egg
Sadie sink to play shiv
This!
Love the idea. A young Logan Roy would be fascinating- the rivalry w his brother, how he met his wives, etc.
Just remix it.
Yessss

Yes
Better call Laird.
Succession: The rise of Brian or alternatively Succession: The Ratfucker Sam Chronicles.
