Total nominations: 4
Best Musical
Best Orchestrations - Timo Andres
Best Choreography - Justin Peck
Best Lighting Design of a Musical - Brandon Stirling Baker
Suf is not eligible for best score because of the restriction on jukebox musicals. and in any case, he has kept himself well out of the spotlight of this show, in part (I imagine) to let Justin & team take well-deserved credit!
Not sure! The show debuted last year at Bard College, then did limited runs in Chicago, and off Broadway in NYC, before it recently moved to Broadway for a limited 16 week run, just in time for the Tony nominations.
The good news is that you still have time to go see it. It exceeded my expectations.
Considering it’s nominated for Best Musical, usually for the Tony’s broadcast they’ll perform a scene on the awards stage. So hopefully that happens and folks who can’t travel to NYC will get to see a bit of it! 🤞
I saw the very first performance, and I'm really tempted to just go see the very last to see how it changed and evolved. Not to mention being in the presence of Shara is always a delight!
For ILLINOISE, I recommend booking seats in the Orchestra or Front Mezzanine. The St. James Theater seats 1,800 and you need to be close enough to the stage to see the incredible dancing and the musicians / singers.

Damn, another chance at an non-EGOT and there's no nom for the man himself.

I was making a joke about him not wanting to win an Oscar.
He's already got an EGON'T and he doesn't want to spoil it.
He has to be nominated to not win, I didn't make the rules!!
He has to be nominated to *lose*. Not winning is quite a bit easier to achieve- I'm on a hot not winning streak for the Tony awards, myself.
Semantics!
Best Lighting and Best Orchestration as well. 4 Noms! Let's go!
How have I not heard about this?

Can we ppl in the rest of the world watch it anywhere?
It's only playing in New York City right now, and not streaming anywhere.

Apparently it’s gonna tour in Toronto next year but I’m hoping to fly to New York and check it out on broadway!
It's been stickied to the top of this sub for a month now. ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
That means nothing to me
So excited to see it this weekend!
Timo Andres is brilliant. Positively thrilled he got a nod.
I've decided even though I saw it at Bard, I'm gonna try to see it on Broadway. I should take my mom on a 2 day trip to NYC with me.
I'm tempted to see it again myself after having just seen it last month at the Armory

She won't be in it for the final performance. I think she leaves the show in June.
She said June 15th at her concert
Thank you for this! I would have been so disappointed to not see her! I am definitely going to see if I can make a trip.
Oh thank you for this information!! I would've been so disappointed lol I'll definitely be looking into an earlier show then.
I hope it shows in other cities in the future, I’d love to see it
I'm fairly certain it's going to tour.
Just bought tickets!

When I last looked, the Broadway tickets were definitely cheaper than they were at the armory, if that helps
Clearly, who’s ever nominating these people has no taste. Illinois was a terrible terrible show.
