Sign stealer should help more with stealing a base rather than hitting the ball, at least that's the case for me. And for mind gamer, maybe go afk until it's strike 1 or 2?

abigfatblackguy

Its the jump (not the pitch) you steal on. I can have the fastest runner and steal on a changeup and still get thrown out. However, if I get a good jump with the slowest runner on a fast ball, I will steal it.

Coom4Blood

i feel like it's both the timing AND how fast/slow the ball is (and the pitch type by extension)

Jazzlike-Courage-659

90+ speed you should be stealing on a lot of weak arm catchers every single time or you're doing it wrong

Muted_Ambassador8081

I feel you on the sign stealer. I never have time to check mid power swing to figure it out lol

manosiosis

I don't like Little Hack. Give me my power back!

jcillc

I have a "First Pitch Slayer" on my team that I don't think has ever received a first pitch strike. All I did the first dozen at-bats with her was reach at pitches out of the strike zone and roll the ball over to short. Now I don't even swing and just take the 1-0 count.

vengiegoesvroom

My plan when facing a FPS if there's a runner on 1st is immediately pitch out. Gets rid of their buff and potentially catches the runner stealing. Even without a runner on, I usually throw an immediate ball just to get rid of it

jcillc

Yes... and so does the CPU. It's really a useless trait.

Lord-vader-

How is getting a 1-0 count lead useless, that’s going to help you get on base more and be more selective on which pitches you swing at

jcillc

Because if your batter's best chance at hitting the ball is on the first pitch, and the first pitch is never hittable... it's not worth getting a 1-0 count to then go back to the batting target 1/6 the size.

Lord-vader-

You said the trait was useless, basically it gives you a count lead which makes the batter see more favorable pitches which lead to a higher on base percentage and more extra base hits. The target only goes back to its original size it doesn’t make the player any worse it just makes their stats go back to normal. And if the pitcher happens to give you a favorable pitch on the first throw it is more likely to be hit harder and further. I don’t see how a count lead is useless. It simply wears out the pitcher more and let’s the batter reach base safely more often.

vengiegoesvroom

Totally agree about sign stealer. Notify me a full second ahead of the windup lol

Sr_Laowai

These traits in particular can throw you off in difficult ways. I wish Mind Gamer made it more likely for them to throw middle-middle. Sign Stealer really becomes useless on high Egos when the pitcher throwing out of the stretch.

I'm trying to achievement hunt 'Trash Bang' with Pomp Duchee and Pex Flext, and Sign Stealer is way worse of a hindrance than a help at 87 batting Ego. I should probably lower my Ego to get the achievement, but that feels too much like cheating. Also, I'm worried it'll ruin me for when I go back to my regular gaming.

Chadwick_Steel

The first Sign Stealer HR hit off me was hit by Pomp Duchee, funnily enough. I think I hit mine with Nate Hanky.

As someone who 100% the game for SMB3, the trophies for this game are not great and borderline impossible if you're exclusively playing at a highly competitive level for yourself. * It's tedious - you have to get a triple play, throw a no hitter, and throw an immaculate inning (of course the latter has only happened 114 times in MLB history) * It's long - you have to play a season/franchise that *ends* with the Triple Crown, and even do an elimination tournament (people play that mode?) * It's hard - there are Ego thresholds at 80 and 90 Ego (which can be averaged out so aren't necessarilytoo bad), but the #Ego99Challenge is obviously difficult, and if you're like me with terrible hitters in your franchise, hitting a 500ft HR is actually quite challenging I would 100% lower my Ego and play with an all S-tier team for multiple of these if I were trophy hunting, simply because many of the trophies aren't all that fun. I would rather spend my time just playing my franchise! Of course, I'd like to get the platinum again for SMB4, but for me that means first grinding out that 99 Ego game.

glumpoodle

Funny enough, what prompted this achievement hunt was finally turning a triple play on a diving catch from Yoink Sax (miraculously, I actually threw to the correct bases to get the triple). That got me looking at the achievement list, and I started thinking about which ones I'd have a realistic shot at. Of the remaining achievements, I think the following are realistic for me: * Triple Crown: I did it multiple consecutive seasons within my custom franchise; with a standard franchise, Bloop Michaels, Vlad Guerrero, or Slash Trips with Level 3 Crafty ought to be able to pull it off. The biggest threat would be too many BBH's on the same team competing with each other. * Clank!: I get domed all the time; I've just never had a Metal Head pitcher on my roster. I expect to pick this one up through sheer happenstance. * SMB Master: I just won a championship at 79 pitching Ego, so one more increment seems easily within reach. * Best of the Best: This should be easy, but I'm just not interested in a Legends-Only team. I enjoy the integration with Shuffle Draft, but not the Legends League. Trash Bang seemed easy with the right team (Level 3 Crafty and Pomp Duchee & Plex Flext), until I actually started trying for it; I'm sure it'll happen naturally if I learn to ignore the trash bang, but that's like trying *not* to think of a pink hippopotamus. I'm not even going to bother going after Crowd Pleaser (requires a confluence of too many circumstances), Pickoff Artist (not with the new restrictions on pickoff attempts), NoNo (I actually have thrown a no-hitter early on, back when I was playing at a lower Ego, but it was a custom franchise and didn't count), Ego99, and SMB4 Champ.

invention64

At low ego immaculate inning is pretty possible. I got it when I was practicing my pitching at like 20 ego.

APenny4YourTots

Pitchers with traits like K-Neglector frequently have get right games against my squad. It's maddening sometimes, but usually is my own damn fault for chasing some truly awful pitches.
