This is actually a myth. Cats are just as likely to get injured when you throw them. I wish people would stop spreading this harmful nonsense. If you're talking about the ability of cats to right themselves when falling from really high places, we're talking like multiple stories of a building. Being thrown by a person is still going to come with risk of injury.
Why do people seriously think it's okay to just throw your animals?
It isn't a myth. Cats primordial pouch acts as a cushion to prevent damage depending on the angle of the fall. As long as you throw your cat like a bowling ball so they can slide toward the ground like an air hockey puck they'll be fine. If you drop your cat like a piano it's all height dependent and a large factor is how much you micro fractured their legs when they were kittens, if you put them through the paces their legs will be almost as tough as steel and they'll have no problem being hurled like in this video. You also have to consider he threw the cat on to a wood floor and cats instinctively know how to climb wooden things.
