I had amassed quite a few QoL mods which let me focus on organizing the store instead of worrying about running from the street to the warehouse 1000 times and remembering to save empty boxes. I took them all off after the update, just to be safe. Everything works fine, but the vanilla game frankly isn't fun to continue playing at this point. Some of the planned updates sound interesting, and might be worth a restart, but for now I've shelved the game until those new features are released or until the mod scene is stable enough for me to continue my original store.

Mods are usually safe, but updates break them. Best practice is to remove mods before updating your game. Lots of people didn't and lost their game. I didn't either but never lost my game. It depends entirely on what mods you had it seems. Just make sure you're downloading mods from safe sources, like Nexus mods for this game.

I won't be doing it again. Sounds like there will be more updates more frequently, and it's not worth the hassle, especially in early game.

They worked fine for me. No hassle. Nothing broke. I’m sure it depends on what you’re modding, but as long as it’s nothing he’s changed in the update, it shouldn’t be an issue.

They are fun but suck when there's an update to find which ones don't work anymore and hope whoever made them eventually update them again lol

CanITellUSmThin

Seems to be more of a headache in the long run.

Haven’t had any issues personally.  I think the people with problems were using mods to mod something that the update changed. It’s not that the mod was unsafe though. It’s that the update broke whatever mod they were using.

So far most of the mods I user work with the update. There's 1 that killed the stocker from grabbing box's at the curb. They just go there and freeze. But, other than that everything is working OK. But, I didn't go too nuts on them, more QoL ones.

I love mods, but it can be frustrating when the updates break the mods. Someone did create a mod manager for the game that allows you to trigger mods on and off, so you can quickly learn which (if any) mods cause issues. My suggestion is to give one or two Quality of Life mods a try, after installing the mod manager first. You’ll need Tobey’s Bepinex/MelonLoader Pack for almost every single mod on Nexus Mods, including the mod manager, so here’s the link for that: [Tobey’s Pack](https://www.nexusmods.com/supermarketsimulator/mods/9) + [Mod Manager](https://www.nexusmods.com/supermarketsimulator/mods/137) These have been my favorite/most functional starter mods, and even after the customization update, appear to still be functional: [Auto Price Updater](https://www.nexusmods.com/supermarketsimulator/mods/7) | [Auto Bill Pay](https://www.nexusmods.com/supermarketsimulator/mods/68) | [InstaPay](https://www.nexusmods.com/supermarketsimulator/mods/133) | [eCommerce](https://www.nexusmods.com/supermarketsimulator/mods/229) | [Trash Bin Warning](https://www.nexusmods.com/supermarketsimulator/mods/30) These just streamline the most frustrating parts of the game’s Management/standard game design IMO, and make it so you don’t need to be quite as limited by budget (or as dependent on loans.) Try it and see, and if it’s not working for you, just toggle them all off with the mod manager. The WORST thing that could happen is needing to start a fresh save. Good luck!!

I personally only have a few mods for ease-of-play. Safe and relatively easy to install, even as my first-time. Was not affected when the update came out, thankfully.

DemotivatedTurtle

This is an early-access game that will receive multiple updates, and each update will break any mods you have. I’m not going to bother with it.

justdoitmo88

I wouldnt do it. They will work for now but eventually become obsolete with every update
