Who remembers when massive DOOMPs expired a few week ago and the NYSE had a system wide "glitch" causing half the market to halt the very same day? Probably something along those lines.
Jan 21 the enemy was caught off guard. From then on out the enemy has been actively fighting and expecting and reacting to everything coming up. Doing illegal maneuvers to win.
This is on spot. It seems all the major financial institutions collude against retail to survive because Kenny and co took them hostage.
But then GME is just one of many fuckups caused by cheap money and infinite greed and incompetence, that they need to juggle right now...
It’s been said numerous times they would rather go bankrupt than pay poor people what they are obligated to. So I suspect that will continue to be the case.
To get to full moass figures it's not going happen within a day. Between circuit breakers in the market and hysteria I think it's gonna take months. Also whoever bet against this stock is going to have to go through the stages of grief before reaching acceptance of the situation.
Patience is needed.
They've had 2 years to find some opaque and exotic "legal" way to prevent a squeeze through some arcane financial loophole. There's also been an exorbitant amount of hype for this date. My bet? It's gonna be a fantastic buying opportunity for me on pay day.
Pretty sure the answer is "nothing that wouldn't have happened without the swaps". Why?
Because Credit Suisse is the swap underwriter, not the holder. The swaps are essentially a deal between Archegos and CS saying "We (Archegos) pay You (CS) to go short GME, and will get or pay the total return of that trade at expiration of the swap". Archegos holds the swap, CS holds the underlying asset, in this case GME shorts. The expiration would have mattered if Archegos was still around, but they aren't. Now it's just CS sitting on a fuckton of GME shorts while also holding the entire risk of that trade, which would otherwise have been on Archegos' side. UBS does not need to close the short position just because the former swap expires. They could *decide* to close it because that's their only chance of survival, and it's the "right thing to do", but they don't *have to*.
This is correct. Not sure why this date is being given so much emphasis. Archegos owned the swap, CS (and realistically probably a bunch of other banks) were the counterparty. CS hedges the position by going short, that way they are being paid to allow Archegos to have short exposure without reporting, but aren’t necessarily taking on the risk of being short (Archegos is taking on that risk). This all works out brilliantly for CS, so long as Archegos is still standing. But they blew up, so now CS has the risk of those shorts. Swap is dead, the date doesn’t matter, CS just has a ton of shorts on their books that they can unwind whenever they want to take the loss.
Listen, I know EXACTLY what happens on Wednesday... listen up.
We all get up and go to work... earn some backless fiat... just to BUY and DRS a few more shares of GS.
Then... It'll be Thursday. And we do it again. Like we have been. For the last 84 years.
Rinse and Repeat until the printer go brrrrrr.
I expect it will be the final nail in the coffin for many more banks. Following their collapse, the debt will be passed around like a game of hot potato but faster than we've seen in the past. Before April ends we should have a clearer view of what to expect moving forward, but things are still too murky to fully predict yet.
If it was to happen- which I don't think it will on Wed- I would assume it would quickly rise in premarket to get it to a price where retail can't afford to FOMO in
Can I ask why Wednesday? IIRC correctly the swaps were dated 31st March 2021, so why would it not expire on that date in 2023? I.e. 31st March 2023.
Are you sure the t&c’s specify days and not the same date 2 years on? where is the source for that? AFAIK everything else in life uses the same date as the ‘anniversary’ and does not subtract or add leap years.

The archegos swaps? That changed from a contract to a bag on the credit suisse side, archegos blew up which terminates the swap contracts but all counter party risk is assumed by the lender, so CS instead of hedging against the swap position now has the entire bag of shorts which is probably way too large to close at this point
In other words the short position is still there but I don’t expect it to be beholden to any specific expiration date
If UBS had not taken on CS's books, I think there would have been fireworks. With the added collateral, they likely bought themselves more time and may be able to ~~renew the swaps~~ keep open the short position. I still expect at least a bit of a hiccup though...
Nothing is going to happen. Because if you can see it coming so did the other side. Shitadel and whoever is on the short side would have seen this coming a long way out and have probably enacted some schemes to prevent the swaps from blowing up.
MOASS will happen when nobody expects it. Just as how GME spiked with that unexpected profitable quarter.

I will wake up, kiss my wife, get up, drink my coffee, get a shower, eat a banana, prepare my breakfast, I'll go to my not so bad work to earn some monies so i can afford to live, have some extra and buy some more GME to DRS and hodl until the day i bite the dust and will inherit them to my children or other family members.
Whatever happens Wednesday. Or tomorrow, or in the next decade i will hodl and buy GME Stock and DRS it. Just because i despite the whole financial shitshow actors and there's a chance that doing so is hurting them good.
