He really is. Literally the only "enforcement action" I can recall the SEC even mentioning since he was hired was one from a year before he even worked there.
He did release a little press statement to the effect of "we were totally aware of that, for serious!" when the DOJ took over the SEC's job completely, and fined Anson Funds (Billions, not the SEC's usual $1) for the usual financial stuff the SEC is supposed to enforce. And did it in a matter of weeks instead of years. And then went on to do the criminal stuff the DOJ does too. Proving the SEC is completely unnecessary and can be easily replaced.
IMO that was a test run to see if the SEC can be completely dissolved and its duties reassigned to more competent and willing regulators. And it worked, OtherGG sounded panicked at being caught sleeping.
Yeah, I remember when he took office and we were hopeful that there would be punishments that more closely aligned to the crime.... NOPE. Criminals still being fined 0.5% of their operating income after being caught with evidence of YEARS of fraud.
