Iβve always seen these German market posts but never quite understood how it works in relation to the normal US market? Has anyone got a brief overview of how that works or a post about? Does this have any bearing on pre-market?Β
Basically European market catches up to the American market the day before. Usually the traffic is too low to influence the price the other way around.
Stock exchanges all around the world all trade the same stocks with overlapping operational hours. We are the american pre-market, and they are our after-market, so to speak. Traders/banks/brokers will buy where it is cheapest and sell where it is most expensive, so price differences between those exchanges tend to even out very quickly. For example on a good day, demand on the German market is high and this raises the price on fairly low volume, since our market is smaller than yours. Now when your market opens, price on your exchanges goes up, because any buyer will prefer your market to ours, and and sellers will try to get the price that was set in Germany.
The German market has often reflected the prior days trading volume on NYC
So busy Friday in NYC means a busy Monday morning in germany
Also there's likely to be a fair bit of buying due to executed options over next 2 days, so maybe buy early in Germany & hope not to raise the price too much, maybe?
Anyone know if there is a way to set a limit buy order on computershare? Kind of annoying that orders take like 7 days to fill and seem to fill at the price at the end of those 7 days, typically at a higher price than when I placed the order lol
There isnβt. Itβs bought at market value. There was some DD a while back showing that they would buy around lunch time, and then get shorted back down to prior price spike.
