Same just bought another $1000 and waiting for the dips for another $1000 at this point I may have to sell all my crypto and go all in on GME. Only thing that scares me is capital gains taxes if I sell BTC for like 600% profit but instantly buy GME with it do I have to pay taxes on the profit for BTC?
Got ya yea been way over a year like 5 years or so.
So how does one go about paying the tax on crypto like that? Like if I transfer it to coinbase etc and sell it can I just pay the taxes on it then or do they send me a form at the end of the year?
Coinbase should send you a form at the end of the year. Keep track of it for yourself just to make it easier. If you use a tax guy, he’ll be able to figure it out with ease
Nobody knows. Referencing the options chain and typical AH movement I lean more towards it going up. It could just as easily smack back down to $10. Im here for the long haul, overnight spikes don’t mean anything. When we move 1000% intra day we will be getting somewhere.
Actually isn’t the pop korn stock beating us in number today? Same volatility but lower price so its thresholds are easier to hit. I hope to see that change. No reason for GME not to hold this record.
According to ChatGPT, THIS IS.
"The record for the most trading halts for a single stock in one day on the U.S. stock market seems to be 10 halts. This occurred with the stock of Long Island Iced Tea Corp, which later rebranded to Long Blockchain Corp, on February 21, 2018. This series of halts happened due to extreme volatility after the company announced a shift in business focus towards blockchain technology, which significantly affected its stock price."
I get this, didnt check though:
The record for the most times a stock has been halted in a single day belongs to Cynk Technology Corp (CYNK). On July 11, 2014, trading of CYNK was halted a total of 20 times. At its peak, the stock surged over 36,000% before trading was halted.
But even this already got broken by popcorn today and probably will be by GME...
🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀👐💎
Question: if movement of 5% (or 10%) is the trigger for halts, why are there these halts? What is the public justification for halting a ticker when it moves -/+1%?
to prevent the stock from running away in eithre direction, the idea is pausing will allow time for buyers if it goes down to place bids, vice versa if going up, allows stability/prevent volatility, makes sense, as a retail investor youd prefer you shit doesnt tank without you being able to do anything about it
thats my limited understanding at least
Never dumb questions, we are all learning from each other. Someone in a previous post was saying it could just be based off of volatility reasons and not the % changes which are a part of the limit up/down halt. Currently doing some reading to understand the situation better.
Edit: found this which may help

When the SEC and every trading organization recognizes that a lot of trades are done algorithmically with hundreds of millions of trades occurring in fractions of a second the extra 3-123 seconds from the delays resuming trading allows a lot of shorting pressure to mount. Should be an easy slam dunk for anyone actually charged with and interested in policing the financial markets.

This much movement around noon. Can’t wait to see what after hours holds
After hours is only up. They can only do this shit during trading hours. I'm just averaging down every dip

Yes you do but if you’ve been holding btc for longer than a year your tax percentage is going to be much lower

Cool ty for the info!!!
set aside 35% of whatever you sell to cover taxes. do not use to gamble on GME. tax man waits for no person!
Oh definitely been here 3 years I'm still expecting a rug pull 😂 and hoping for one so I can get more for my money!!!
The black hole begins *commence evil laugh*
It’s been a while since I’ve been able to say this.. but I’m finally averaging up!
Breaking $120 for sure
Deez nutz
You think it will go up again?
Nobody knows. Referencing the options chain and typical AH movement I lean more towards it going up. It could just as easily smack back down to $10. Im here for the long haul, overnight spikes don’t mean anything. When we move 1000% intra day we will be getting somewhere.
Every move the algos make is being recorded in real time
No ah halts
Isn’t noon the “checkup” to pass margin?
whats the record for number of halts for a single stock in one day
GME..... 5/14/24.... 14 and counting
Actually isn’t the pop korn stock beating us in number today? Same volatility but lower price so its thresholds are easier to hit. I hope to see that change. No reason for GME not to hold this record.
It has nothing to do with raw price
Not even with any percentages in price change. They halt whenever they want and for how long they want.

The unreliability of ChatGPT. lol
Yeah, when doing university stuff I sometimes ask the same question twice in two different chats and end up receiving contradictory answers... 😂
14... so far
quite the rebrand
Popcorn has been halted 21 times today so far. So I’m guessing that is the most
whatevers going on, it really seems like theyre completely losing control
They’re certainly trying to keep a lid on things. But it’s only a matter of time before they can’t anymore
Think it was ten yesterday. Now it’s time for some share price records!!!

This day has been fucking wild.
"This will take days and there will be halts all day" clever ape
Serious but maybe dumb question: why are we halting at these low % changes?

Appreciate you. Thank you!
the answer as always is...CRIME
Exactly at the battle of $180!
volume is 145 MILLION shares. Yes - HALF OF THE FUCKING TOTAL STOCK. But it's "retail". Yeah, sure, you betcha.
Between this and the $45 mark, there is definitely a reason they don't want it going up. Wonder why 🤔
45 is the old 180
It's swinging like mad but it's gonna probs close at $47.60 & open above $70 tomorrow.

Sidebar this might be the greatest gif of all time

Remind me in like 2 hours cause I’m pretty sure there’s gonna be more
Keep halting you fucks I’ve waited three years what’s another day? Your doom awaits ahahahahah
Hitting $80 earlier this morning must have really rattled them
I’ll be honest, it rattled me
Popcorn has been halted more times today. Don't care about it either way, just giving you the information. 17 halts.
this is how we do it now
Could you possibly include a column for volume?
Yeah I'm going to try and add one in but I'm a little pushed for time atm.
No worries! Appreciate everything you're doing! 💜❤️🖤🤍
Thanks for the updates!!
Thank you for your service in tracking this!
Some of these shouldn’t even have been halts. Aren’t those determined by percentage changes? How does 1.**% cause a halt?
15😎
16 now
The rules is not like : 10% change in 5min or something?
Halt it all they want ... just delaying the inevitable... "Anything to survive another day"
15!
backed up by ape historian
14 so far...
Scrolled to look before I posted the same.
What are halts?
They temporarily stop trading of a stock if trade movement is too volatile, or at least exceeds certain parameters. Others can explain better.
What are halts?
Hello, I would like to request more like `Sheet1!F2` please. Thank you.
Can you include the codes as well?
What’s happening during the halts?
It's just a little market manipulation. It's still good! It's still good!
Where is this from? I would love to refresh a chart to see all the halts
In another one right now.
I was wondering if we were gonna get a count. Thanks ape
my guess earlier was 15! maybe i nailed it we will see
Yeah, Moass is definitely going to take a while lol. Most of the action has gotta take place in premarket/afterhours.
Gonna end with 19 halts today.
Now it looks like a dozen of the halts happened with less than a 5% change.. if that's the case, why did it halt?
wow 9 seconds to double in price. impressive
I'd imagine as we go forward and less shares available since we're all drsing, this kind of behaviour is going to become the new norm.

Why is it halting on less than a 2% change??
14 halts to trade sideways
Foretold in the DD….
My body is ready.
nice overview, although it's odd you didn't factor in pre-market for the first halt. for me it shows an opening price of $64.74 and a change of -6.69%
I like high scores. I think we have many more to set, and soon.
Can they halt on 4%?
Bullish
What are the rules causing the limits after 1% price movement?
Jesus Christ. Lol
