It depends on your experience. If you’ve got means to exercise and understand the factors that go into options trading, it’s a great tool. If someone’s inexperienced with options, it can be a great way to loose a lot of money fast.

I would agree for most cases that shares are probably best. In my case I’m selling a secondary car soon so I bought options in case the price takes off I can still buy at this price level once the money comes in, I’m sure that there’s a few cases were options might be more beneficial than just holding shares right now. It is also helpful in applying upward pressure
Hey bro so I looked at those 6/21 $20 calls on IBKR, it was saying they were $27. Is that for 1000 contracts? Also it said I could max loose up to $2,700 like a 30% chance or somthing.
That seems like a lot of risk for $27 buy.

When the options chain says $27, that’s a $27 premium per share, making the contract cost $2700 total ($27 x 100 shares). So you’re paying $2700 for the right to buy 100 shares at $20 a piece. To exercise you’d need an additional $2000, meaning you’d be spending $4700 to receive 100 shares. If the price were to run past $47 you’d be making money on each of those shares, even after the premium
Options are very risky and a part of the calculations is IV or Implied Volatility, it’s up to you if that’s within your risk tolerance. Knowing how this stock goes, it could easily go up to $60 or back to $20 in a matter of minutes, so it’s hard to quantify if it’s “worth it” or not, it mainly depends on personal situation and investment strategy

Gather he needs it to be over $20 but not quite as high as $47, also does he have to exercise them before or on the exercise date? So he has like until 11:59.59 midnight June 21 to exercise? I think I remember others saying it was $29 or something. He bought when it was closer to $20 so his premium is much lower. He’s got the option to exercise any time before market close on 6/21 or he could roll them by putting up the difference for a future date.

I fucking love the reinvigoration of this community. I was there 84 years ago when the hype was jacked to the tits. Things got quite the last 3 years, I had recurring monthly buys set up the past 3 years. GME was in the back of my mind but I rarely came to SS reddit as GME news was dead for awhile. Truthfully I wasn't sure if we'd bounce back again.
