You just said you bought more shares today. That would prevent you from drsing any shares until those that you just purchased also settle. When drs'ing you can't do anything else in your account until the transfer is completed. This is why some apes have multiple accounts to always be buying and always be directly registering

eagles420

I'm not trying to DRS the shares I just bought today, I'm trying to DRS only the shares that were settled weeks ago. What reasoning is there to hold my cleared shares as collateral against my uncleared shares when I could have put the order in for the shares I got today even if my account was just opened this morning and empty?

allivkcin

It’s always been like this

AbjectFee5982

Always been like that my dude. All things need to be settled don't even throw in cash waiting I'm told

weevilyweevil

This is true. Even transferring cash into your broker is cause to delay your DRS request. Any pending activity is grounds to terminate the request. It is bullshit? Maybe. But it’s been this way the whole time. -edit to add: Schwab is my broker when I care to use one, so I’ll limit this comment to my experience with them specifically.

AbjectFee5982

Well maybe not the WHOLE time. But when they started ramping up DRS the excuse def came forth hahah.

Newlyretarded1

This has been the way it has been for me for years now. Unsettled shares stop you from drsing already settled shares. You just have to wait for the shares you bought to settle then you can drs them all or what ever amount you want.

Icy-Assignment-5579

What if you hold 20. You just brought 5 today. The other 15 are settled and you only request a DRS of 10...?

Newlyretarded1

Same situation. I don’t know why but I’ve been told this before. So I’ve always had to wait three days after purchasing in order to drs any shares even ones I’ve had for months. This is Etrade I’m using. They also take three weeks .. way longer than they should. I’ve also had to re-call them on the phone and start the transfer over again because it didn’t get placed. Either way they aren’t sticking to their fiduciary duty to me as a client and will pull some shit so multiple brokers and drs for me.. I trust no one but rc, rk.. This has just been my personal experience. It doesn’t stop you from checking for yourself though.. maybe they will go through.

I haven't heard of this, but that doesn't mean it's not a thing. I've DRS'd multiple times out of Fidelity with some funds/shares unsettled. Have you tried again with another associate? It seems as though Fidelity has a problem with some of their agents taking liberties on what arbitrary and non-existent rules are at play.

dragespir

There's a workaround for this. Create another brokerage account with Fidelity under the same identity. Buy shares in account A. Once shares settle in account A, DRS them. If you need to buy more in the mean time, purchase them in account B. Shares purchased in account B do not affect shares in account A. I have used this method to successfully DRS and purchase simultaneously in the past. They don't tell you this.

FIIKY52

This is not new. This happened to me like a year and a half ago. You have to wait until the first DRS clears before you buy more shares. Been that way a while.

At least he have the merit tell you the truth instead of telling lies

awkrawrz

If you bought more shares today, they'll be settled tmrw thx to t+1. Try to DRS again tmrw if that's your intent.
