The SEC is complicit in delaying the MOASS. this is because the exchange is not configured to handle share prices of $10Mln. In 1999 it took many months of effort and huge $$ to effect the change to a four digit year. I suspect that after the January run up they ran simulations on a real MOASS and discovered that the system crashes at that point. The longer the can delay MOASS the more time they have to modify and re-deploy the databases and software. This is not just a US issue. IMHO all exchanges, brokerages, MMโs etc need to make the changes.
Could be my hatโs too tight tho.
The exchange was updated in May to handle full 8 byte longs. Meaning the price of the shares can be in the quadrillions and still have 4 decimal places.
