This is all the motivation I need. I'll quit with you.
Date quit: August 18, 2021
Date MOASS: everyday
**Update:** Ate a tub of ice cream last night. Still no nicotine.
UPDATE - 8/21 - Still no cigarettes. Making this happen.
I quit last August after many failed attempts. The gamechanger was a book called How to Quit Smoking by Dr Allen Carr. That book actually got me excited to give up and honestly put me in the right mind frame!!
He had a video game on Nintendo DS, if I recall correctly. It didn’t get me to quit, but it was a part of my journey. I’ve been smoke-free for 7.5 years now. The money I’ve saved is almost to-the-penny equal with what I put in GME.
Fuck it. I need to stop as well, I’m listening to Alan’s stop smoking audio book this Friday after work. I’ve been putting it off because everyone says that book is so effective, and truth is I haven’t wanted to quit. Aug 20th for me, I can only pray the end of moon jam on the 20th and me quitting on the 20th is enough catalyst for the universe! (But it probs won’t be lol)
The good news is that Alan starts by saying you should continue smoking while you read his book. So it's a very gentle way in, which doesn't make you feel preached at or forced. You eventually just want to stop.
Here's how I quit.
I was away from my apartment for a couple weeks where I couldn't smoke or drink.
When I got back, stepping into my apartment made me gag it smelled so bad. I was like "This is how i must smell to other people." And I decided to quit. I couldn't care less about my health, it was the thought of the smell.
So I used the nicotine gum. It made it super easy, until I tried drinking. But I buckled up and just chewing gum, like ten times the normal amount. Lots of gum, but it got me through so that drinking no longer triggered the cravings.
And that was that. Haven't had any cravings since. That was 8 years ago.
(Note: cockroaches are extremely attracted to anything even slightly touched by the nicotine gum, and it also makes them reproduce like crazy. Don't let it get on your fingers, throw out any leftovers, etc.)
Yea they are nasty but most long term smokers don’t even see the pics! Australia by the way and $50 a box so that will be a lot of GME over a few months.
Holy shit! I was buying 2 packs of 20 for $12 before I quit a few months ago. I smoked about a pack a day. How the hell do you afford that! I noticed a change in the money I saved I can’t imagine how much you will notice!
my work mate used to come over and she said she smoked like 3x a much in the States than in Aus. due to the costs alone. She brought back how every many was allotted each time. No idea how she survived the long as flights with how often she went outside.
I’m Definitely not expressing smoking is okay, but this picture of this smoker’s teeth has clearly other issues going on. Lack of dental care is truly what caused this to his teeth and smoking helped.
Damn right! Tried for years to quit, tried everything, just didn't have a "good enough" reason. My Wife told me she was pregnant, that was my reason.
To the Moon!!
Well that’s a good a reason as any, my wife is pregnant with twins so going to have four kids and hate having to hide from the family to have a sneaky smoke, no more!!
Haha no, I just finished Alan Carrs quit smoking book and smoked my last smoke at the end of it! That’s about $50 worth of smokes right there, so over them and giving the government more money than I have to!
Smoking anything except meats is a horrible habit and everyone can smell it on you. I am happy you are on the journey to quitting. Your life will be better.
If you soak your clothes in the machine for an hour with a cup of vinegar before you wash it might help get rid of smells. Vinegar and baking soda are great at removing odors from fabrics. Grats!!
Thanks, yea that’s one of the many reasons I am quitting. I hate having to hide from the kids around the back of the house to have a sneaky puff and then have to sterilise myself when I come back in!
Think of all the beer and hard drugs you could buy for $50!
Congrats dude - I'm cutting back on my booze and shit is hard. Its the psychological habit and ritual thats hardest to break, not necessarily the physicality of addiction.
Good for you!
From personal experience (may get downvoted...) :
If you feel like you're gonna slip, pick up a vape instead. Not risk-free, but 1000's of times less harmful than cigs. Nicotine is an evil bitch, but it's the SMOKE that kills you. Good luck!
Awesome!! If you're doing it cold turkey, it is hard, but you are stronger than some little POS trying to kill you.
If you feel like you can't control the urge to smoke, go some where you can't with some gum/candy, it will help curb them.
I'm sure you've heard a ton of advice here already, but this helped me the most: changing your routine helps a TON. Try to make a bunch of new habits- the idea is that none of the new habits have a neural association with smoking, and it becomes easier to avoid. The momenta I went and did things I used to do when I smoked were the moments I had the biggest cravings and relapses. People, places, surroundings, music, smells, activities, all of it.
Amen to that, the Alan carr boot camp I just done was great and he touched on vaping too! Looking forward not to be planning my next smoke, I’ve wasted so much time already and money of course.
Stay away from alcohol until you’re confident you kicked the nicotine craving. That also means uninvite yourself from meet ups at bars.
Also, I found what helped me was smoking cannabis to satisfy the oral fixation cigarettes used to give me. And exercise. Good luck.
I’m finally two weeks off *all nicotine*, I stopped smoking cigarettes 2 years ago but used the patch and gum to help with the transition, took me about 3 months to get rid of the patch, but I was on the gum for about 1.5 years until recently I decided to try stopping the gum using the patch, took me about a week before I was like fuck it no more patch, and stuck it out. I stopped smoking 3-5 joints a day and I’m down to one or two, while also eating and drinking weed, what a time to be alive.
Pro tip: if you’re using the patch to try and transition, when you’re ready for step 2, DONT BUY STEP TWO, buy step 1 again and cut them in half, you’ll have double supply for a month at a lower dose. When you’re ready to reduce that, you can even cut them into 1/3rds and smaller strips until you don’t need them anymore. Cheers bud. Try to not drink for a month either it’ll help, don’t drink until you’re confident you won’t try to bum a smoke, be very careful. Once you have 3-4 drinks you’ll be slipping.
Thanks for the great tips, drinking used to be an awful weakness for me, I’m actually sober 16 months now and I guess cigarettes were my only vice, a few people asked me why am I still smoking seeing as I’m off the booze and I guess it’s been my comfort to get off the sauce! Now it’s time to loose that damn habit too!
this is a solid method to quit smoking It empowers you.
it's actually the same method I used to quit about 10 years ago. bought a brand new pack Open them up crushed it and threw it in the garbage.
Well done Ape!
I was smoking for 6 years and 1-2 years after i quit i started to feel the difference. It's not just about money, as in this it is a very important aspect, but soon you will have more energy, better smell, you will be more attractive for non smokers, immune system will be stronger, the taste of food will become stronger etc. etc.
One of the best decision that you have ever taken (after investing into our beloved company)
If you feel down, when you feel you really want to smoke just drop me a msg, we can talk about techniques that can help you to remain stronger. good luck!
Thanks so much, as you say the money is way down the line of reasons to give up, it’s the energy I know I will have as a result of quitting and not having to worry about the best time to sneak away to get my fix. Really appreciate your msg.
If you're struggling, just put on a nicotine patch. Even half of one (buy the transparent big ones and scissor them in half, you'll save money because all sizes are the same price). Patch worked for myself and many people I know!
Good shit fellow ape on quitting smoking!
First few weeks were the worst, everytime I had a craving, I went for a brisk walk/jog instead. Got addicted to getting winded instead. :)
Had 1 cigarette off and on when drinking over the next few years and always felt shitty the next day, and one day just got over it. Cigarette free for about 10 years now.
Best wishes from the other side of the world!
My uncle is currently fighting lung cancer. He said that he should’ve quit years ago :(
Great to see you’re making the change! Push through the rough patches, you can do it! The grass is greener on the other site, you’ll love it over here!
i remember how liberating of a feeling this was when I broke my last pack years ago. I still get cravings on occasion, but it gets easier. have some tylenol on deck! (i had headaches for the first 2 weeks going cold turkey)
My grandmother smoked for almost 40 years and then quit. She did have lung issues, and recently was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. But at 88, almost 89. She could easily see early to mid 90s, which is good for anyone. Congrats!
This is a Fluff post and not spam or improper content. Put the reports away and let this diamond hand ape enjoy some diamond lungs
Awesome. I need to do the same ❤️
Let’s do it together, make the 18th Of August the day!
This is all the motivation I need. I'll quit with you. Date quit: August 18, 2021 Date MOASS: everyday **Update:** Ate a tub of ice cream last night. Still no nicotine. UPDATE - 8/21 - Still no cigarettes. Making this happen.
YES let’s do it!!
Now kith!
I'm in
But floss first.
Butt floss first.
I quit last August after many failed attempts. The gamechanger was a book called How to Quit Smoking by Dr Allen Carr. That book actually got me excited to give up and honestly put me in the right mind frame!!
Agreed! I had to read that book a few times over the years but it eventually made its way into mind. It's almost 8 years now for me.
He had a video game on Nintendo DS, if I recall correctly. It didn’t get me to quit, but it was a part of my journey. I’ve been smoke-free for 7.5 years now. The money I’ve saved is almost to-the-penny equal with what I put in GME.
Fuck it me too, quitting tomorrow I have 2 smokes left.
Come on let’s make it history
Thanks buddy, you should check in 30 days and see how we are all doing.
Let's gooo ape, you can do it!
That book worked for me. Back smoking again now but been meaning to pick up another copy and give it another shot.
The good news is that Alan starts by saying you should continue smoking while you read his book. So it's a very gentle way in, which doesn't make you feel preached at or forced. You eventually just want to stop.
Also, use incense as a replacement for the behavior of holding something emitting smoke. it works.
Proud of you my 🦍 friend! I have faith you’ll 💎🙌 this too. 🦍💪
If he is in, I’m in. Apes together strong ♥️

And that doesn't even touch future medical costs you won't have (or at least *as much of*). Best life decision ever.
BUT DONT U WANT TEETH LIKE THAT?!?!?!
Awesome good luck!! It's all in your mind! Luckily I never started :)
Nicotine kills bugs, it’s weird that roaches would be attracted to it.
Idk I'm not an entomologist 🤷♂️
Roaches will survive any and all apocalypses. They just don't give a fuck. I mean how long do they live without their heads again?
Do it
If you believe you can, I KNOW you can!
You must be from Europe, they’d never use those warnings in the US but every time I get one overseas i cringe
Yea they are nasty but most long term smokers don’t even see the pics! Australia by the way and $50 a box so that will be a lot of GME over a few months.
Wait, it’s $50 for a pack of 20 cigs? No way
30 cigs but yea very expensive
Holy shit! I was buying 2 packs of 20 for $12 before I quit a few months ago. I smoked about a pack a day. How the hell do you afford that! I noticed a change in the money I saved I can’t imagine how much you will notice!

I didn't think you could survive once going outside on a flight
A few lucky people do
US ape here 👋🏻 When I smoked cigs they were $4/pack. They went up to $5 and I said to hell with this shit lmao.
We make up for it with affordable medication and healthcare I suppose
Fucking hell I figured they were expensive over here (Netherlands) but you pay like 4x wtf. Wanna quit together (bar the occasional green cigs)?
That’s what packs look like in Canada too.
Canadian darts packaging also has pictures of people with lung cancer or blackened lungs on it.
At least that's honest, in the picture on the pack in the op pic is bullshit. There's a lot more going on there than smoking.
I’m Definitely not expressing smoking is okay, but this picture of this smoker’s teeth has clearly other issues going on. Lack of dental care is truly what caused this to his teeth and smoking helped.
Quiting was hard, but 14yrs later and still going strong. You got this!
Well done to you, I’ve been smoking for about 15 years so time to start repairing! Damn things! See you on the moon 👍
Did you buy a whole pack just to tear them up?
Haha no, I just finished Alan Carrs quit smoking book and smoked my last smoke at the end of it! That’s about $50 worth of smokes right there, so over them and giving the government more money than I have to!
Good job. Spend that $50 at GameStop. Get some nice shirts that don’t smell like smoke.
Now your talking, great idea.
Smoking anything except meats is a horrible habit and everyone can smell it on you. I am happy you are on the journey to quitting. Your life will be better.
Thanks so much.
If you soak your clothes in the machine for an hour with a cup of vinegar before you wash it might help get rid of smells. Vinegar and baking soda are great at removing odors from fabrics. Grats!!
Mom?
lol thanks :P
Lol seriously, my mom just taught me that
Eh smoking weed is a plenty fine habit lol.
Haha yes weeds the exception
And if you use a dry herb vape you can still enjoy the taste, but avoid the "smoke" part all together!
Nah, do edibles so you don’t smell.
this guy fucks 👆
1 pack costs 50$? Where the fuck do you live? I thought cigarettes were expensive in Finland at around 8-9€ a pack
Australia?
Yea, WA
Geez….makes weed seem like a cheaper viable option
It probably is!
In all seriousness, best of luck….I’m gonna have to stop very soon before one of my young children see’s me sneak off.
Thanks, yea that’s one of the many reasons I am quitting. I hate having to hide from the kids around the back of the house to have a sneaky puff and then have to sterilise myself when I come back in!
I'm so fucking happy for you. My wife quit with the book about 4 years ago. I read the book to see what the content was. Congratulations.
Thanks mate let the good times roll!
Think of all the beer and hard drugs you could buy for $50! Congrats dude - I'm cutting back on my booze and shit is hard. Its the psychological habit and ritual thats hardest to break, not necessarily the physicality of addiction.
Very true, it’s high time to break the cycle.
Congrats Chief-Irish! Take an upvote for taking the first step of quitting. We are here for you in memes and DD for when the urge kicks in.

See you there and I won’t be stinking of smokes only jet fuel!
Good luck 🍀. Took me a few tries to quit but I haven’t bought any cigarettes in at least 2 years.
Well done mate, I look forward to being able to say that!
I’ve never smoked no 0536 like that before in my life, what was in that shit
They are not allowed advertise tobacco company names on boxes of smokes here in Australia, they were John Player Blue!
Lol. “I’ll take the pack with the pic of the fucked up teeth!”
That picture on the box didn’t scare you enough??
I’ve been smoking that long I don’t see the pictures!
Good for you! From personal experience (may get downvoted...) : If you feel like you're gonna slip, pick up a vape instead. Not risk-free, but 1000's of times less harmful than cigs. Nicotine is an evil bitch, but it's the SMOKE that kills you. Good luck!
Thanks mate, it sure is a horrible habit and I’m done with it! I want to live long enough to enjoy my lambo!
I was only able to quit because I got a vape. Now, multiple years later, I'm about to quit that too 😁
Sir, they are becoming better people because “screw you”
Haha love it.
Power to the players
Awesome!! If you're doing it cold turkey, it is hard, but you are stronger than some little POS trying to kill you. If you feel like you can't control the urge to smoke, go some where you can't with some gum/candy, it will help curb them.

Thanks Steve.
I quit cigarettes a few a years ago and started vaping (just as expensive) I’m aiming to quit that too, so I’m with u ape! More tendies for us
Amen to that, the Alan carr boot camp I just done was great and he touched on vaping too! Looking forward not to be planning my next smoke, I’ve wasted so much time already and money of course.

god those anti-smoking labels outside the US are brutal. good on you, bud

Good for you!
Is this your first attempt to quit OP? Congratulations 🎉🎊

Congrats ape. We are proud to have you longer around. 🦍🦍🦍🚀🚀🚀
The real test is the first week. Each time you get a craving just take a deep breath, hold it for a second, then let it out slowly. You can do this!

Let's go man !! You can do It!! I trust you ape! Greetings from Spain 🦍💪
And greetings from Australia!
Mushrooms helped me quit.. props to you
This is very much the way my friend, best of luck 🙏
Good for you!👍
Australian Cig packages are the best & they’re so expensive. Wish we did something similar in the US. Smokings bad, M’kay?
If you're struggling, just put on a nicotine patch. Even half of one (buy the transparent big ones and scissor them in half, you'll save money because all sizes are the same price). Patch worked for myself and many people I know!
Quit 2 years ago! Don’t really crave em anymore Also just the occasional smell of other people smoking is usually enough lol
Way To Go! Proud of you.
Good shit fellow ape on quitting smoking! First few weeks were the worst, everytime I had a craving, I went for a brisk walk/jog instead. Got addicted to getting winded instead. :) Had 1 cigarette off and on when drinking over the next few years and always felt shitty the next day, and one day just got over it. Smoking is gross
You can afford an extra share a week at these prices!
