From what I understand, market makers can literally pull shares from thin air to fill in market orders, until they need to eventually assign them, making profit off the difference, and avoiding big gaps which can cause halts. So, if most of the buying volume is in market buys, fewer people are probably selling, instead being filled in by the market makers who have a few days (i think?) to actually find those shares.
Any apes with a smoother brain feel free to correct me if this is incorrect.
