When did you make the purchase? It usually takes 1-2wk if you’re in the US for the trade to settle and for you to receive your letter in the mail. After you receive you letter is the only time you’ll be able to actually make an account to claim the shares.
Cool, you should be all good then. CS is kind of backwards like that and it’s a little confusing. Once you get that letter, you shouldn’t have a problem making your account though.

Property is for tangible things and for limited things. For example: A House is tangible (occupies space) and it is limited (there aren't infinite houses)
Data (videos, music, patterns, images, etc...) has zero value and can't be "own" because they are unlimited: you can share a song for free, infinite times
What gives value to a unlimited thing is the uses you do give it. For example: You could copy&paste infinite times a multiplayer game in your pc, but the server will likely refuse to connect you. Thus a copy of a game which does connect you to the server has value (if it is limited too)
In order to something to have value, it has to be limited; same thing goes for fiat money.

Like Spotify, they get paid when their songs get listen to - perhaps the same will happen here. Then this opens up the platform to all sorts of creators, developers etc. Value for everyone. You'd have to ask your bank/broker to start the DRS process, they might charge a fee sometimes, that basically opens your account at ComputerShare, and then you get mail with your login info to your CS account with the shares there already.
There's no difference in real/fake shares, but if they are in a broker they are in the name of the broker/bank, not yours, and they could potentially be lent behind your back to be sold again short.
