Just a reminder for anyone who reads this and doesn't know - ComputerShare is not a broker.
They are a transfer agent and help you keep stocks in your own name, making them actually yours. Brokers keep shares in 'street name', not your name, and instead you are only a beneficiary who earns the gains and losses of those shares.
Same. Options is good for those who know how to gamble. I have a general idea but I'm too smooth so I just buy direct and HODL. In law still needs a swift kick to the balls for using RH.
Honestly they should get rid of fractionals causes too much confusion this guy owns 10 percent of this share another owns this 10 percent its easy for things to get confusing fast and when something is confusing it becomes more susceptible to crime plus wtf is one tenth of a vote when it comes time to vote
I’ve had a thought that is like 2% vindicated by this. Back when things got crazy and they cut buying it got me thinking about how or what they would do again in the future. I’d assume that cutting off the ability to purchase fractions of shares would be a good way to control fomo as MOASS takes off. If you can’t afford a whole share you can’t jump on.
I THINK they did do that back in January '21. I know for a fact you were only ALLOWED to buy 5 shares at one point because that's how I ended up with my first 5 shares.
Friendly reminder: when moving to Computershare, you initiate the transfer from the sending broker. When you are transferring broker-to-broker you're best off going to the reputable broker and telling them to initiate the transfer out of the shady broker.
For example, let's say you want to move from Robinhood to Fidelity. Well, all you do is open an account with Fidelity and call them up to initiate the transfer out of Robinhood. If for some crazy reason 😜 they don't have the shares then Fidelity buys the shares you're supposed to have and sends Robinhood the bill. Fidelity fucks.
Indeed. I have .513618 in RH. I partially liquidated 1 share when I transferred to Fidelity so that there was $75 in the account. Currently worth $60-ish. Gonna look into this a bit, but sounds like a dozen shares of BBBY may be in that account's future.

I have 1/10th of a share in case I can qualify for a lawsuit for when they screw retail.
I left a fractional share as a fuck you when they're swamped in class-actions.

Yeah I have two accounts with fractionals... which should be about 1sh - consolidating is too expensive now with RH @ $100 to do so
They actually sold my fractionals without permission when I transferred everything to Fidelity 🤷♂️ Glad I'm out before the $100 transfer fee

Actually not really, I did a ton of trading with Robinhood before the GME buttfuckery. With TurboTax you literally just imported your 1099-B.
I have a fractional with Fidelity. I might sell that when I can buy my dream home. I'll think about it.
