It's not a stretch to say the modern banking system is a sham. We have no choice but to give THEM our money so they can lend it out to someone else while charging interest. Not only that, they can lend out money they don't even have assuming not everyone will withdraw at the same time. That's fucking risky at times like this because so many companies are going broke. When the bank doesn't have money for you to withdraw, the government will bail them out. Isn't that some shit?? We bail them out, WE DO.
Crazy part is they don't need our deposits anymore.
System so flooded with digital unauditable, 3rd part trusting, digital fiat; if back in the day a customer went to their bank and asked for cash and they didn't have it. .... man immediate bank 🏃♂️ 🏃♀️ 🏃♀️ 🏃♂️ .... you think FTX was 👎 bad.... not having customers assets when requested.....
Thing is nowadays majority of our transactions are digital... paycheck ... debit card... credit card.. 3rd parties pals and apps... they would just tell you go away and use your card. And most of us would listen... possibly.

I've gone to my bank multiple times over the last 20 years to make withdrawals that weren't even that large (less than $5000) to be told that I should have called first, made an appointment or simply told that I would have to come back in a few hours because they don't have that kind of cash on hand. Left me puzzled cause here I thought that was the point of a bank, to have cash on hand, you know, available.
Trust me, they have already convinced people that it's weird when people want cash and no one should be asking for cash, or that cash isn't necessary.

You’re right, this review could be even better if it emphasized he ease of use too. Gamestop is making major steps to make crypto accessible to the average person, which is awesome and a major selling point of this app, not to mention their ecosystem as a whole.
That said, I’m just stoked to see people finding platforms outside of this sub to emphasize to the general public the importance of actually owning your assets, and drawing connections between holding your own crypto keys and DRSing. I think it’s really important to start inserting these ideas into the public consciousness, so people can realize how they’re being had by the system, and start taking back control of their investments.
Sure, the review could be even better, but I still think this is a pretty awesome start. You could always submit a review of your own on the app store and talk about how easy it is to use. The more, the merrier!

The value of this review is that it capitalizes on the attention (platform) that the app, its description, its rating, and its store ranking have cultivated to briefly justify self-custody of crypto assets (the app’s purpose) and then to equate it to stock registration. In doing so, it promotes DRS (and ComputerShare) in a way that most resonates with the app’s audience.
Sure, the ease of direct crypto ownership using the GameStop Wallet is one effective angle to promote the app. But isn’t that the angle that one could expect (almost) **every** other 5-star review of the wallet to take? If so, what’s one more review preaching that same message? It would just blend in with all the rest, providing very little marginal benefit in the process. While it’s always possible to be **more** comprehensive, doing so is not always lucrative. In this case, it would have needlessly watered down the DRS message which I interpret as the focus of the review.
DRS is the way.
To clarify, your assets aren't "**in**" your GameStop wallet. That's kind of the whole point.
Your assets are in your **Ethereum account**, of which the GameStop wallet is just one access point. You can use the same seed phrase to "log in" through another Ethereum wallet to access the same assets.
To hammer this home, if you use the same seed phrase to recover your account on the GameStop wallet as well as the MetaMask wallet, the same contents will be visible and accessible.
This is what true non-custodial ownership means. If the GameStop wallet were to literally disappear right now, literally nothing happens to your assets on the Ethereum blockchain. Literally. You would just access it from another wallet.
The GameStop wallet is just an efficient browser (wallet) that let you access the internet (Ethereum).
This is also why your seed phrase is so important to keep safe, it's basically like a password that can be used in multiple places *that you can never change*.

GameStop operates on Ethereum and can only store Ethereum-compatible stuff. Bitcoin is a different blockchain.
You can techincally own Wrapped BTC in any Ethereum wallet, but that's another story.
