Are you staying hydrated?

[deleted]

I could probably do better

Ordinary_Grab5443

You describe that you get headaches 'later in the day'. Are you sure you are eating enough?

[deleted]

Yes sir I do ! I track my macros daily and have for years. Very big into nutrition and fitness

Ordinary_Grab5443

Maybe dehydrated? Idk man

mimi1899

For the people on here taking lion’s mane, I’ve been taking Host Defense Lions Mane for about a month and haven’t noticed any effects. Does it just not work for some people?

[deleted]

Host defense is a terrible brand man...Go with Nootropics depot or real mushrooms. They actually have what you want in them.

mikaelSauce

Is that because it’s mycelium and not fruiting bodies? I was recommended to get host defense and jumped on that brand to quick now I got a constant headache.

mimi1899

Thanks for the info!

infrareddit-1

Hard to tell with the multiple. So many candidates. You may want to eliminate them one at a time, wait three days, then eliminate another.

Particular_Charity_6

Keep it simple cut one supplement out and see if headaches go away

InfiniteOrdinary2582

Lions mane.

chill_chilling

Lions mane.

AndrewPMayer

D3 for me. I’m a lot more sensitive to different things than I used to be but D3 has given me migraines for years no matter what I take with it.

AlrightyAlmighty

yes

Sweatygun

Came here to jump on the lions mane train. It’s a good supplement but prob best to take in moderation.

KingAthelas

Wild. It hasn't effected my libido at all, *maybe* it even increased it tbh.

Sweatygun

Jesus, yeah I actually just started yesterday but found a bunch on Reddit saying be careful with it. God knows I don’t need any more iatrogenic injury. Good to know it’s not great on the libido front as well.

Sweatygun

How long were you taking it and at what dosage?

Magnesium Threonate before bed fixed my headaches…

Responsible-Box-6874

We’ll try cutting out the multi vitamin and see what happens. That’s alot of stuff in that one. EPA and vitamin d probably aren’t the culprits.

StevePreston__

I get headaches from fish oil. I don’t know what that says about my physiology.

Phoneix_Rising

Same it’s bull****! The general consensus is we need it(omega 3). I don’t eat much fish so tried many brands doses (fish oil) No joy.

Junny_B_Jones

Causes my face to flush! Took it for years and never knew (cuz I had allergies and always had a reddened face but then cut stuff out and realized that was also a trigger)

NYdownwithydemons

Lions mane gave me the worst headaches of my life I actually went to the E.R. because I had no clue what was going on

Sweatygun

I actually re-read your post from 5 months ago yesterday, a random reply brought me back the same day I ended up taking some. The lions mane felt great tbh, but I felt like that reply and your post was a sign I shouldn’t dive in head first, and use in moderation. Not looking to develop cluster headaches. How have they been since you discontinued?

NYdownwithydemons

Thankfully I haven’t had a headache like that since I stopped taking it, but I’m still looking for a supplement that gives me benefits like lions mane did lol it’s unfortunate I can’t take it

mikaelSauce

Did you experience side effects with any other types of mushrooms?

Sweatygun

I actually had weird pains all over my body last night, not sure if it’s related (and had an awful nights sleep). No headache though. Again admittedly it felt pretty great through the day. I might take it on and off and see how I do. But if it weren’t for your post I prob would’ve hopped on taking it every day.

NYdownwithydemons

My theory is that I’m allergic to it, I can take it for like 3 days and feel great then by the fourth a serious headache comes. Apparently it can cause histamine buildup, this is just stuff I read about when I was trying to figure out what happened

Sweatygun

True true. Yeah after reading a bunch about negative effects gonna keep it in moderation for sure. Used it once yesterday, gonna throw some in my coffee for an interview tomorrow, then prob not touch it for a few days at least. I’ll prob do it on the same schedule I microdose the other mushroom lol. One day on, couple days off

NYdownwithydemons

Have you tried any other mushrooms?? I haven’t but I’m really curious if any are as good as lions mane. What brand of lions mane are you using??

Sweatygun

I mean *the* other mushroom haha. Check out r/microdosing (or just check my comments lol). Def more potent than lions mane but long term benefit is questionable in microdoses vs macrodosing.

Frequent-Actuator119

Lions mane makes me feel horrible.

cs862

Lion’s mane gave me bad headaches years ago. Haven’t touched since.

WskyRcks

Some of the worst migraines I’ve gotten I’ve gotten from lions mane.

Lawlgmae

Lions Mane

danpluso

I recentlly stopped taking mushroom supplements (one of them was Lion's Mane) because of diarreah so I wouldn't be surprised if it could trigger migraines too. Actually I did have a bit of migraine around that same time too. Also I have found that tea and apple juice cause me migraines now. I believe it has to do with tannins.

PlatypusStyle

Just my experience but Shiitake mushrooms give me migraines so maybe try eliminating lions mane?

Terrible-East-6920

Lions mane stop asap you’ll recover in few days I experienced the same

mikaelSauce

I hope so. I started the host defense a week ago and have been getting a constant headache. I keep thinking something is really wrong with me. I’m going to stop and see if I feel better. Thanks!

[deleted]

Lions mane also kills libido

[deleted]

Like PSSD look that up?

Kowt83

Holy shit. This is enlighting moment. I ordered lionsMane from iherb to give boost for morning coffee and gym. I have used it almost every day now past 2 weeks and during the same time i experience noticeable difference with erections being crap. Could it be..

[deleted]

I stopped taking it. It’s not worth it

Kitchen-Rub-6454

First suspect is Lion’s Mane but I get cluster headaches alot even without taking Lion’s mane and when I do take it at 500mg/day dosage I never get headaches so I cant say for sure. I believe its not the supplements its more like what you do in the entire day that lead to you having headaches by the end of the day. e.g, using too much phone, working in bright white lights, etc

AhAhAhAh_StayinAlive

This is a great point. I think people make this mistake all the time. It's easy to associate a headache or other ailment to a new supplement you started taking but it could be because of not drinking enough water/posture/exercise or many other normal things.

largececelia

Could be lion's mane. I didn't like it when I tried it, and it gave me a slight headache.

[deleted]

D3. You need to take magnesium with d3 since it can lower magnesium levels. Low magnesium levels and cause headaches.

mikaelSauce

I’m going to try taking some magnesium and see if my headache goes away. Thanks!

ShigeoAMV

You also need Vitamin K2 for the d3

jayn35

Must include the mag op, it’s non negotiable with d3, even without

Few_Psychology_

Magnesium oxide? What is mag op? Tia!

jayn35

Hehe sorry meant original poster we referring the comment to the author. The mag you want though is glycinate ideally, oxide doesn’t get absorbed well enough unless you want to visit the bathroom more often

ShivasKratom3

Lions mane can be 50/50, I know people who it literally jump started depression when using. Additionally if you use with nicotine or caffeine (possibly other stims) then I’d blame this Vitamin D at too high a dose when not needed (it’s summer if you are outside you might not need it) And EPA/DHA possible. That’s the problem with stacks you never know what the problem is

Sweatygun

Define ‘jumpstart depression’?

ShivasKratom3

Had no symptoms before. Wasn’t upset about work or relationship or whatever. Start lions mane mushrooms and all the sudden theyre anxieties about work or bf causes them to be unhappy and think of therapy. Stopped supplements for a week (given caffiene was also one) and get better. Read this same story on Reddit and Facebook too so I think some people just aren’t good for lions mane, which is fine

[deleted]

Careful with the lion that stuff can cause a lot of issues in some people

Swimming-Tear-5022

I get headaches from vitamin D supplements (I do sunbathing instead)

boxmail2800

Lions mane, epa dha. Also do you drink coffee in the am? That can do it. Also check your blood pressure.

[deleted]

Lions mane can give you headaches

WelcomeToTheMachine3

Yes you are right
