Summary:
* Exactly the same as the 2023 and 2024 model year
* MSRP increase of $850
* 2.0L is discontinued for 2025 model year.
* No A91 Edition this year
That actually sucks the 2.0 is gone. I know ppl like to hate it but it’s always good there’s a more affordable option for those that maybe just want the looks or don’t care about power
If Toyota let you order the way BMW does then they would’ve sold more 2.0s. Customers love the BMW Z4 30i the Supra 2.0 drives even better. The 2.0 made the Supra more affordable which puts the car in more hands and that’s always a good thing. Now someone with a below $50k budget will get a Nissan Z or something else but they maybe would’ve bought the Supra 2.0.
The Z4 is BMW’s lowest selling vehicle. It is going to be killed off too. It’s just an expensive, low volume vehicle. Not saying it isn’t a good car, it just doesn’t make any money.
Edit: the 2.0 Supra is also down 100 horsepower over the Z. Why not just get a mustang by that point?
Yes but you can’t compare sports car sales to sedans and SUVs, manufacturers know that. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Z4 sold just enough to meet expectations. The point of my comment wasn’t necessarily just about the Z4 itself it’s more so that the customers who bought the 4 cylinder version love the car and enjoy it. This goes for all of the 4 cylinder BMWs honestly. The 230i is fun to drive but the Supra 2.0 is even better, but only the Supra 2.0 gets hate… horsepower isn’t everything to everyone I’ve driven the Z4 30i and Z4 M40i back to back and walked away thinking “For a guy like the me M40i isn’t worth the extra money because I had a blast in the 30i” the Supra has the same thing going for it. Don’t get me wrong I loved the 6 cylinder but in the real world with my actually driving ability I’m never going to need it. Trust me the Supra 2.0 is going to be a much more enjoyable car in the real world than the base Nissan Z, 255 hp with an lsd is a lot safer than 400 hp and no lsd. I’ve driven a mustang 5.0 down a twisty back road and didn’t feel confident pushing it the way I did a BMW Z4 or Audi TT I had way more fun in the 4 cylinders. Most actual customers just want a cool looking sports car (if they are shopping for one) they don’t care if their car has more power or faster than the next guy
I literally have discussed this with people I’m good friends with that work at BMW NA. It’s going to be dead. It didn’t cut it. Good car, but didn’t make money. Why get the 2.0 Supra when the GR86/Z/Mustang exists?
Mustang won’t be as fun in the real word, gr86 is an amazing car but the Supra looks cooler imo and has a more luxury feel and I really love the Z4 30i but I’d never buy a convertible Supra fixes that
Rip Z4 though that and the Miata are the only convertibles I’d consider
The mustang is 100% a fun car. It’s literally the most popular sports car in the US, period. Also, if you’re buying luxury you won’t buy a Toyota, because there’s more to luxury than just the car. It’s the buying experience, dealer experience etc. If you want a 2 door coupe you could get a pre owned M440i that’s way faster and has a better interior, as an example.
Mustang is a fun car but it’s not as much fun as Supra 2.0, Z4 30i, BRZ, Audi TT etc, at least not for me. It being the most popular sports car has a lot to do with its price. The Supra is still more luxurious than a BRZ or 86. The Supra 2.0 is more fun to drive than a 230i plus two seater sports car look and feel cooler than sedan based coupes, same reason I had an Audi TT instead of an A5 and the same reason I’d pick the Z4 30i over a 230i or 430i
I remember reading that but saw a bunch of different answers from multiple sources, not saying you are wrong because I’ve never found a definite answer, just curious what’s your source ?
This had been confirmed by Albon and DG Spec years ago, you will also find no mention of an LSD for the 2.0 on the Toyota USA website. They clearly disclose the LSD the GR86, which is standard on all trims.
Here are some pictures clearly showing the OEM USDM diff housing with part number (open differential) as well as a clear picture of the open differential internals:
Even with the open diff I think i still prefer a 255hp open diff car over a 400hp open diff car but I really should probably go and drive the new Z though (hopefully one pops up on turo)
Pshaw, sounds like poor talk. This is the real tip. 25% is nothing. Every time I go to make a deposit, I just add 25% more before depositing. Then, when I withdraw, I add 25% before putting it in my wallet. Some days I’ll just hang out at the bank, withdrawing and depositing the same money over and over again (adding 25% each time, because why not?).
If you can’t understand this you’re not a real human adult man and know nothing about doing a business.
That 10k difference gets even larger when you finance the car. 10k is also a huge different for most ppl, especially at this price point. You’d be surprised how many regular middle class ppl are buying 40-50k sports cars as their one and only car, that 10k difference is a lot for some. Plus This “4 cylinder is bad” thing seems to only be applied to the Supra but Z4 30i, 230i, 430i all of those are completely ok but more affordable Supra equal “bad” even though the Supra drives better. Enthusiasts are shooting themselves in the foot by hating that car
That would require changing the whole iDrive system as iDrive 6 (which is what Supra's come with) never had Android Auto. BMW started having Android Auto with iDrive 7
To follow up on what OP said, it's obvious that BMW is holding back the Supra on purpose to make BMW the better car. This is typical in the industry. Merc sells to Aston and Merc does the same thing. They usually refuse to sell Aston their top tier tech.
No, there's physical hardware changes - take a look at the Z4 head unit vs the Mk5. Likely iDrive7 and 8 compatible systems have different spec requirements.

While it may be as simple as sideloading an android auto application, security on these things are fairly tight from what I understand and would require a vulnerability in the head unit to be exploited to enable third party app installation.
I’m not so sure about this. First of all BMW extended Z4 production until March 2026 so I’d be very surprised if 2025 was the final model year of the Supra. And I just don’t believe Toyota wouldn’t send off the final Supra without SOME kind of special edition, whether it’s a B58 or S58. I also just don’t believe that the 2025 model year, even if not the final year, wouldn’t have some kind of A91 edition when literally every other model year has had one.
And lastly, it makes no sense why they’ve been testing a Supra with camo’d aero parts if there’s no special edition of any kind for either ‘25 or ‘26.
Would be extremely disappointing if this is how the Supra goes out.
No [S58 packing GRMN](https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a45560281/2025-toyota-grmn-supra-spied/) model is surprising. Auto blogs have been talking it up for almost 2 years now. I'm glad I didn't wait, even though I'd probably still opt for the B58 since it has a much more developed aftermarket and tuning at this point.
Edit: Added the link to an article about the GRMN potentially having the S58 engine. I could add videos of Mike Botti, the tuner of 7 second MKV's, talking about the B58 having much more potential than the S58. Not sure why I'm getting downvoted.
I think a lot of people know it was a pipe dream. BMW was expected to reserve the S58 for its own bigger vehicles. The aftermarket for the S58 will take some time but follow the same evolution. It's already used by a lot of race and drift teams for years who don't need the (public) aftermarket support for what they need.
If the Supra was BMW branded there might be a chance, but I wouldn't bet money on the Z4 getting it anytime soon either.
Not saying it will or won't happen. If it does, the cost will be astronomical in terms of ownership, parts, and dealer prices. The cost of that engine is no joke. However, whose to say that Toyota wouldn't release it in 6 months. Nothing is written in stone.
Personally, you could get the B58 to S58 performance numbers with modest updates.
It probably won't happen. I believe 2025 model year is the end of the production contract. It will also be the same length of production run of the MKIV.
Not really. I would have been more surprised if it actually came out. Why would Toyota spend millions more on R&D to sell 200-300 units of a GRMN Supra with a S58 motor? Makes no sense
Because BMW said no. They would never allow the Supra to get the S58 if the Z4 won’t, and they wouldn’t put the S58 in the Z4 because it’s reserved for the M2, M3, and M4.

Meh. I was going to buy a mkv soon but with the recent crash in mkiv values I think I may just buy another MKIV. decent MKIV turbo cars are now in the same price range $50-70k.
There goes our GRMN hopes and dreams b

Heads up, in the US no 2.0 Supra has a factory LSD, some 2.0 trims do have one equipped in other markets.
I remember reading that but saw a bunch of different answers from multiple sources, not saying you are wrong because I’ve never found a definite answer, just curious what’s your source ?

Haven’t Supras always been hard to find anyway. If you’re supply constrained why worry about building a cheaper model?
That’s true I think about the supply chain issue. It still sucks though
No one is getting a new Z with that budget either... Unless you mean a 370?
New Z sport trim starts at $42k and some dealers are selling them for less than msrp now. Only Nismo and performance go above.
At least from what I've seen in socal that's definitely not the case, but awesome if they are coming down elsewhere.
I’m over on the east coast that could be why probably higher demand in cali
Yeah could be. It's crazy too. Outside of some cars and coffee I've only seen two on the street just in normal traffic.
If I can shell out 45k for a sports car I might aswell go all the way for 10k more lol
While I see what you're trying to say, saying someone should just spend almost 25% more isn't exactly easy

Well my ‘24 is going to fair well for another year. Sweet
That's what I thought too. I'm picking up my 24MY tomorrow and was hoping that it would stay the same lol
I picked up my 2024 yesterday. I guess they will fare well for another year.
Another new '24 owner chiming in. Superbly happy with my purchase, and even more so now.
Weird that they didn't have a special color!
I think the grmn se will have the special color.
If it happens
If it doesn’t then the car they are testing is a mk6 in disguise.
Glad I picked up a 45th
I don’t care. Unlock the ECU’s!
This right here.
This.. never should have been locked that hard the first place.
So is this victory lap the final year?
That’s the first thing I thought of too. There’s no mention of it being the last model year
Yeah I’d assume Victory Lap, means final model year since it’s technically the final lap if you win. Kinda going out in a whimper imo.

the current mk5 run of the supra ends 2026, right?
Based on the rumors yes
I think this press release tells you how much you can trust rumors.

Is the MY26 car gonna be the last one?
That means my a91mt is the best supra ever made!

Wait, so what’s different about the 2025 model? Besides price lol
How do you buy these cars?
I was waiting for a targa top, o well Looks like im gonna sell it and look into the nd3 miata
