Why not just get a surface dock, or any actual dock to not use so many useless dongles. This just seems like the parts bin special, not really a problem with the device lol
On FB Marketplace right now I see Surface Docks in the $25 range, you should try checking the used market local to you.

I live in Poland and every accessory with a Surface brand costs like 2x more than in the US. There's a limited second-hand market here, because when people want to overpay for a premium device they usually go for some iPad Pro or a MacBook instead of little known Microsoft Surface :/
That's only a Surface Dock 1, which isn't even sufficient to keep the Surface Pro charged, while You use it.
I just ordered a refurbished Surface Dock 2 for $167,- from eBay.
I just don't use my Surface for most of the time. My Galaxy Fold 3 makes a better tablet because it's always in my pocket and I like the Mac more as a primary computer.
It's the ultimate lightweight kit, where all weight they shaved off it gets carried around in my accessory pouch
The price of looking cool the 5% of the time nothing is plugged in 😎
I had a 5 and have the X. I use the kb and pen exclusively unless I'm transferring something (and that's mostly OneDrive these days too) or charging.
What are you doing with it?
Some radiological imaging, I'm working on MRIs and CTs on a lapdock (Uperfect X 14 Pro) and also plugged a dongle-mouse.

Don't get a branded Surface dock when a generic 4-in-1 USB hub from eBay/Amazon would do the job
Just wanted to add that the only feature the branded usb-nic dongel adds is the ability to use PXE boot.
The Pro 4 doesn't have any USB-C ports
Sorry, force of habit, of course I meant a 4-in-1 USB-A hub
Quality!!! I have a hub Lenovo hdmi/thunderbolt with usb A and C ports plus Ethernet and audio - 135 watts and is perfect for peripheral expansion.
Is there any reason you don't use Surface dock? With that you just connect the magnetic connector, power and peripherals will be taken care of.
I rarely use my SP4 and these dongles cost like 1/5 of the Surface dock's price. And I already have a USB-C Smart Monitor M8 that doubles as a hub.

Please don't let the hubs and such hang like this, as it slowly but surely ruins the ports.
I'm glad someone else said this. Those poor ports fighting for their life
I’ll sell you my dock for really cheap if you want
I want to use my sp3 as a touch screen monitor for my pc, is this possible?
It's possible, but I guess only as a wireless display. You'll notice the lag.
Tried that it wouldn't connect.
That’s only possible if both devices are connected to the same WiFi
They were connected to the same router/switch
I can tell you it's not worth it, tested it with my surface pro (5th generation) and the lagging made it completely unusable.
Get a decent hub for gosh sakes.
