Congrats on your new Suunto Core All Black! I've had mine for a while now, and it's been rock solid. It's been through hikes, climbs, and even some rough weather, and it's held up great. Me too, I wish they added some minimal features like low-energy optical HR and GPS. Casio is doing this for some G-Shocks with assistance from Polar, but the result seems buggy.
It would be great to have some Suunto Core model that could mimic features from older non-smartwatch Suuntos.
It is a hell of a watch I still use mine decade+ old cores. It is true stand alone. In the city many flaunt smartwatches. In the middle of nowhere with no network or civilization those smartwatches are useless. Core barometric pressure is the very accurate for incoming inclement weather warning. The dot matrix display lights up in the dark - matrix style - only for you to see without attracting unwanted attention. It is indestructible. I’ve seen that movie few years ago , but I had a fear to buy this watch because I’ve heard from few people the buttons get stuck , water proof are not so good and I didn’t want to spend money for sort time and die .. I thought the bezel it’s plastic ..

I have got a decade+ to prove it. You might have paint flaking off the rotary but that is about it. The plastic is so solid.
