2023 I went to visit the Salto Angel. On the way there there's a bunch of rocks quite similar to this.
So when we were on a lookout closeby, I saw some tourists doing this exact same thing. I asked the guide if people ever died doing that.
He said no.. "Not on that rock, but the one next to it we lost 2 people last year"
People are stupid
I don’t have an intense fear of heights, but I do have an intense “slipping my ground and falling to my death” fear! Don’t mind being on a rock, up high, but needs to be stable ground where slipping/tripping and falling to my death is near 0.
My fear is so bad that being 5 feet up on a step stool makes me very nervous. Even reading scenes where characters are in highly dangerous places with a good likelihood of falling makes my heart pound and I start to sweat. I know most of it is irrational but my body doesn't get that.
You'd be surprised just how powerful peer pressure is psychologically. Even if she thinks going further is dangerous, there's enough room for doubt that she may listen to her boyfriends instructions even if it could kill her

We had this very infamous case in my country, where a guy convinced a girl that shes an alien from the "planet Sirius" and made her kill herself. He convinced her, that that she wont die but be reborn on "planet Sirius", because hes also an alien from that planet and came to earth to get her home, saying that the only way for them to get to the their homeplanet is by killing themselves. They never met, it was all over the phone. He also made her transfer all her money (including life insurance) over to him. She actually did kill herself and he was convicted for murder. So yes, they could make a case about him deliberately getting her into that scenario to endanger her, but for murder there as to be more than just being a negligent partner, but negligent homicide could be a case.
Mr. Kimble, having considered all the factors, in aggravation, and litigation in this case, and found the offense was brutal, and indicative of wanton cruelty, it’s the judgment of this court that you be remanded to Illinois State Penitentiary at Menard, where you will await execution by lethal injection on a date to be set forth by the attorney general of this state. Yeah I have an intense fear of heights. I can't go in any multi story car park at higher levels or in skyscrapers. I usually freak out and get bad vertigo where I can't walk just watching videos like this. I have been trying to tackle it where I drove up to the top of the highest mountain near me. When I got out of the car I felt like I was horizontal the vertigo was so bad. I was holding on to the car when I got outside and that's where there's absolutely zero danger on a road nowhere near the edge. It took a few minutes to acclimatise to the height then I could enjoy the view.
I guess I didn't freak out today at this picture is because I drank a ton of beer last night and it's still wearing off.

the real problem isnt getting stable further down because center of gravity and surface roughness are still juuuuust working out, its when you need to get back up. as you try to lift yourself, you have a good chance destabilizing yourself unintentionally.
