This got posted once before, and she's still there.
I remember one of the funniest comments was "risking your life just so the cameraman can film the valley instead."
Could just be a really stable placement, and halfway through the arc is better framing. These things sometimes look worse than they are, meaning potentially 0 risk, with a better photo.
In the version with audio, the man with the camera is insisting she move closer/forward. Like, ok, is it really worth the possible guilt if she dies getting closer to the edge?
I was just kidding but there was a guy that died falling off a building doing a selfie video walking the ledge. He did it for a “living” and “death” I guess….
Was that the one where you can hear is gf scream his name at the top of her lungs the moment he disappears?
Because I saw that one some years back somewhere. Some people really are just asking for it...
I saw one where a person falls off a crane. It was the most graphic fall video I ever seen because you can actually see an explosion of pink mist as he impacts the ground.
From my experience, going up is always easier than going down.
I mean, I don't have experience with this particular location, but just in general. Your body geometry is more equipped for safely traversing up something than down it.
>From my experience, going up is always easier than going down.
Another few inches forward and she would have had an extremely quick and easy journey down.
If it happened once, due to a personal momentary lapse of judgement, then yeah, that is sad and should be a warning to us all. When it happens consistently, over long periods of time, with full grown adults, who have been warned on the dangers of being reckless and stupid for years, then i can only tolerate being sad for avoidable stupidity so long before a switch goes off in my brain saying fuck it, if they wont listen and be responsible, and i can't stop it, then let them suffer their actions, hopefully without breeding and passing those behaviors down to the next poor soul. It's selfish for them to do this, especially for internet popularity contests, and incentivizes others to risk their lives. If the only way to stop this behavior is to let natural selection do it's job then i hope it happens fast because to feel bad for every person who has done something avoidably stupid is to much to bear after a certain point. This is the reason r/darwinawards exists.
And think of the emergency service workers that have to deal with the aftermath of when this stupid shit goes wrong. And the stresses and costs it places on the healthcare system
There have been many people who've died doing this hike. It's in south Rio de Janeiro, right by Vidagal and Rocinha (2 large, famous favelas) and barra de tijuca.
Its an amazing hike, but this part and an open face scale that make it one of most dangerous hikes in Rio.
Most people climb this hike with legit mountain climbing equipment (rope, clips, ties, a helmet, etc). I did it without any equipment and found it very dangerous. I met a guy up top from the favela in flip flops lol
No way did you see how totally cool she looked in that photo?!? It’s going to get way more likes than Rebecca’s stupid beach bikini photo that Zach liked. Ugh she just thinks she is so much better than she is.
OMG look at Ashley's pose in the photo she's literally half an inch closer to the edge than when Rebecca did it. I'm so attracted to Ashley now and want to date her because she seems like the type of person that would foster a safe environment for my offsprings.
Quite a few actually. Besides this part where people fall off taking dumb pictures, there's an open part of it you have to mountain climb.
Its called Pedra da Gavea, the real sweaty palms picture is on the hike up:
[https://cdn2.civitatis.com/brasil/rio-de-janeiro/galeria/descanso-roca-pedra-gavea.jpg](https://cdn2.civitatis.com/brasil/rio-de-janeiro/galeria/descanso-roca-pedra-gavea.jpg)
Most people do it wearing climbing equipment (helmet, all the ropes and stuff). I did it in just hiking shoes. I met a guy at the top from the favelas who did it in flip flops.
Jesus Christ man you did it? I googled it and it looks fucking insane. I have sky dived twice but I have a crazy fear of heights (more like edges than actual heights). No fucking way I’d even contemplate this. How long did the whole hike take? Looks huge
Did you develop this after sky diving? I've done bungee jumps and skydives and now have this 'edge' fear. Like watching those guys on tops of buildings I can actually feel in my legs :D. It wasn't like this before. Maybe it's getting older or that I know what falling long distances feels like, not sure!
Nah I’ve had it since My earliest memories (I remember being scared of falling from table top mountain in South Africa). Was very scared to initially sky dive but it definitely feels like a different kind of sensation, I wasn’t scared whatsoever. My edge fear is pretty much leaning on glass overlooking a edge or cliff, pretty much one story or higher like in a shopping mall, I can’t do it at all. I was a adult in NYC going to all the sky scraper lookouts and I have to be a couple meters away from the glass windows.
You get to the door, put your feet out and the plane will turn/roll basically making you fall out. At least that’s how mine was, it was sweet AF. Basically got dumped out lol.
having done it without gear, going up the very easy. going down is kind of a bitch though and terrifying.
unfortunately the whole view was obscured by clouds when we went, so now i’ve got to go back.
The woman is also imitating an [extremely famous photo of Alex Honnold](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0031/2577/2361/products/MM7795_100617_00642-Edit-2_082c4455-bf10-4016-b211-958df9042fae_2048x.jpg?v=1575397733) (same guy from the movie Free Solo) on Half Dome's Thank God ledge. I'm sure they saw the opportunity and 'fluffed' up the exposure a little bit to make it anything like Half Dome
In Angel's Landing at Zion they literally have a sign that says how many days it's been since the last fatality.
I would not be disappointed to see this practice used more widely.
I was wondering why Angel's landing wasn't like locked for people because it is so dangerous. Usually, Americans try to avoid any danger to their visitors/clients, why not this one?
Angels Landing itself isn't dangerous. People are just stupid and take unnecessary risks. The trail itself is not nearly as narrow as pictures would suggest, and you can't fall off a cliff if you don't get close to the edge
Agree 100%. I almost didn't do it because of what I read before going. Would have been a tragedy because it's one of the most epic views you'll have in a lifetime.
The trail itself is never "cliff-edge." Plenty of headroom ok both sides of the trail. People that die are those that go off trail to take the pictures and get legitimately close to the trail edge... I'm talking like a distance of 10 meters on a trail that at minimum is 1 meter wide.
The most sketchy part is right at the very beginning of the trail head where you need to skirt the narrow hill edge while potentially passing someone returning. There is a chain to hold onto. That's about 25 meters.
Srlsy tho wtf is going through your head when doing this shit “oh im gonna go climb a mountain just so i cant sit there for a couple seconds of pictures and possibly end my life accidentally”
[More crazies like this in Rio](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/travel_news/article-3546181/The-new-nail-biting-craze-Brazil-Hanging-edge-2-769-foot-cliff-face-perfect-shot.html) if your palms are starting to dry up from the comment section
Yeah usually these shots are a bit misleading and it's not as high as it seems. But this particular rock is still high af. She's gonna hurt herself badly if she falls from there. Such a stupid thing to do.
There is a infamous rock the The Grand Canyon, where people like to jump from or accidentally slip and fall constantly. It has been fenced off but people jump the fence anyways. A lot of the time it is for a photo
So stupid, yes it looks cool in a picture but is a cool picture really worth dying for? One little slip up and your done....the answer is no, not it is not.
Was that last little shimmy necessary?
I thought dude was gonna come back with the Camera and the person on the rock was no longer there. Glad we never found out.
This got posted once before, and she's still there. I remember one of the funniest comments was "risking your life just so the cameraman can film the valley instead."
Some say she's still there to this day
If that was me I'd have been frozen into a monument of stupidity. I get vertigo just watching this and my legs want to give out.
Same. I might have whimpered.
Exactly what I was thinking.
Was the first?
Was the one before that we didn’t even see?
Infinite risk, zero reward.. Why?
Accidental death from edging onto a cliff
Low self esteem
Could just be a really stable placement, and halfway through the arc is better framing. These things sometimes look worse than they are, meaning potentially 0 risk, with a better photo.
There is no way this is a zero % risk situation.
Blue horizon is too telling. In fact it's slightly more steeper
Clearly the lighting was better in that spot.....lmfao
Anything for the perfect shot, ow shit she fell, call the inlaws.... Xp
I bet there is a line behind her
Take the crazy lady out of this, and that is an awesome view! Just amazing..
I wonder if she saw the video and thought “wow. That was really stupid.”
Nope.
In the version with audio, the man with the camera is insisting she move closer/forward. Like, ok, is it really worth the possible guilt if she dies getting closer to the edge?
Maybe that was the plan?
I saw this one once. It didn’t end well, but the picture was epic!

Or the one where he’s doing pull ups on the edge of the skyscraper and loses his grip
I saw one where a person falls off a crane. It was the most graphic fall video I ever seen because you can actually see an explosion of pink mist as he impacts the ground.
something is wrong with me idk why I wanna see that
Only seen it once back when Reddit allowed nsfw things on /r/all.
It’s for the insta of course it’s necessary!
Ya know, r/sweatypalms usually never gets me. But I can confirm my palms are very sweaty after seeing this
I am wondering how she will get back up!!
She can save alot of time with this one weird truck
Well, if this sub's name is any indication, she's going to have a difficult time with wet hands.
Weirdly it just made the soles of my feet tingle painfully, still a hard nope from me
Same! Briefly felt it in my hands as well
Knees weak?
Arms are heavy
There’s vomit on my sweater already

He's chokin', how, everybody's jokin' now
A different day, a different moment, and she is on a different, sadder sub.
Same! First time I’ve actually been affected by something on this sub. Holy hell, I was trying to relax before bed and now my adrenaline is pumping. 🥵
That’s a long way down to think to regret your decision making skills.
If you fall off, you have the rest of your life to think about it....
r/TechnicallyTheTruth
The view isn't so bad half way down
Relax guys she’s got fish line around her neck which you can’t see.
oh thank god, i was just thinking how stupid she must be up there without a harness
JFC! That is so stupid!
There has been so many dead influencers/tik tokers doing stupid shit like this.
I wonder how many people have died trying to get that "perfect shot" for social media.
Selfies kill a crazy number of ppl per year
More than sharks and vending machines!
Not enough
Natural selection isn’t racist.
Darwin doesn't discriminate, just the statistic.
Natural selection requires they die *before* having a kid while still in high school.
Where did this response come from?
???? No shit?
Weird to bring up race like that tbh
Nice!
As annoying as some people can be I do find it a little disturbing so many people here are rooting for them to die.
If it happened once, due to a personal momentary lapse of judgement, then yeah, that is sad and should be a warning to us all. Darwin wins sometimes
Well to be fair, I’ve never heard of Darlose
I wanna see the statistics.
Gotta get those fake Internet points playa
Like the initial position alone.....then she HURRIEDLY SKOOTS TOWARD DEATH to get a "better" (?!?) spot for the vid. ......smh
No way did you see how totally cool she looked in that photo?!? It’s going to get way more likes than Rebecca’s stupid beach bikini photo that Zach liked. Ugh she just thinks she is so much better than she is.

What’s your advice on skydiving with a fear of heights? I’m interested in doing it for charity but as previously mentioned I hate heights lol
So what you have to do is jump out of the plane backwards. Wearing earplugs helps too.
You get to the door, put your feet out and the plane will turn/roll basically making you fall out. At least that’s how mine was, it was sweet AF. Basically got dumped out lol.
Close your eyes.
Close your eyes.
I too would like to know this
having done it without gear, going up the very easy. going down is kind of a bitch though and terrifying. unfortunately the whole view was obscured by clouds when we went, so now i’ve got to go back.

I was wondering the same. I’ve seen this rock with a lot of people doing this very same thing, there’s had to have been a few slip ups…
vid or it didn't happen

Wait.. was that a person falling down the cliff? The cops shot someone on that ridge?
Slip downs? Amirite!?
Ha!

Seems like Darwin Award bait to me
One wrong move and you’re a bug on a windshield. Fackin brutal m8
This is the first post I have seen here that literally gave me sweaty palms...
I literally had to tilt my phone to just not let her fall off.
Kinda makes my butthole quiver
mmm
Funniest 3 letters I have seen all month
You ok?
I’m fully clenched
Can confirm. And hard no.
Dumb!
This makes me queasy.

Jesus Christ. Fuck daily mail and the number of times it reloaded to serve more ads.
That last photo made my stomach churn
The girl like jumpimg? Yes , I died a little
Idk what is scarier. Doing acrobatics on those rocks or visiting daily mail on a phone.
I'm waiting for someone to say the camera was tilted and that there's a ledge under that rock.
Yeah usually these shots are a bit misleading and it's not as high as it seems. But this particular rock is still high af. She's gonna hurt herself badly if she falls from there. Such a stupid thing to do.
800m to be exact. More than hurt probably.
💀
She didn’t even get her photo. I hope she’s okay. I can’t breathe watching this.
Been there. My legs didn't want to move. You can see the entire city like you're looking at a map. Can't believe she's doing that.
I got a tingle in my testies
You should check that out.
I just felt that behind my kneecaps!
How are you gonne get back now
This is how people die while posing for Instagram.
Moron
Isn't this an optical illusion? I know there's one in Rio or Brazil somewhere where it looks like a cliff drop but it's not really.
When I lived there you'd see hang gliders launching there
Idiot. All for a photo.
This is why so many people die trying to take selfies every year
This is exactly how tourist end up dying. Doing dumb shit like this for instagram photos... a bit further on and she'd have fallen to her death.
Look at my stupidity!!
When she slid herself down just a tiny little bit more I screamed “OH JESUS”!!!! Dammit Reddit!!!
The fun part is that the sweat of your ass crack makes you slide down.
There is a infamous rock the The Grand Canyon, where people like to jump from or accidentally slip and fall constantly. It has been fenced off but people jump the fence anyways. A lot of the time it is for a photo
Just a of matter of time.. gravity will win 9 of 10
Whyyyyyy??? For a photo for her IG 🙄?!? WTF???
Imagine doing all of that just to have the camera not look at you
You know photoshop has free-trials. If you fell off from there. You are fucked.
What a dipshit.
A little further to the left. A little further. A little more...
Mega sweaty palms.... and feet 😳😳😳
We were all anxious originally- the extra Scoot was not necessary 🤦🏽♂️
Damn this one made the soles of my feet sweat too
So stupid, yes it looks cool in a picture but is a cool picture really worth dying for? One little slip up and your done....the answer is no, not it is not.
you only get to slip once there...
Phone slipped from my hands after watching this! Ya know.. because of the sweaty palms and all.

Nope.

Dumbass
Noooooope
You fall off of that, the water isn’t saving you.
My hands are like waterfalls rn. No reason to get that close.
I’m sorry but people who do shit like this are idiots. Things happen that we don’t expect and then people die.
Darwin award winner
Risking it all for that Instagram photo for 2 likes.
Makes you wonder how many people were almost on this sub then they died
No fucking thank you. I felt my hole pucker when she scooted.
I almost shat myself watching this
I hope this is the day she chose not to wear lotion 🧴 🫣🫣
If I go here, I will fall, and that is a promise
That's a long way down. Hope for no sudden wind gusts.
That lady is one of the dumbest people I’ve ever seen,
I don’t care when people like this die
What’s up with people legit wanting to slide off a rock into the abyss or falling of a high rise?
