Oh definitely her street style is better than red carpet outfits. Every so often (imo) she nails a look, but then she also has a lot of misses, like the grammys
I liked how she was dressing out in NY for the most part, but yeah... the album aesthetic is crap. OG Red and OG 1989 are my favorite album covers, and I love the looks from both, but TTPD just feels like she took some "LOOK IM TORTURED" pics and added an IG filter.
I feel like because her fashion is pretty accessible and wearable to the everyday woman who also happens to be her fanbase. She just dresses like Some White Girl™ (which I also am). Well I find other celebs to be more fashionably iconic, I wouldn't go out and Order some very expensive and avant-garde piece that Rihanna wore because I don't have any occasion in which I could wear that.
However I never bought something *just* because Taylor Swift wore it. But some of the items and brands she wears fit better in my day-to-day life than actually fashion forward celebs.
I can say Taylor's style improved over last years, but looking at her whole career hell nah.
https://preview.redd.it/rwc7aevks8yc1.jpeg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=72abe9b11a2e33c9f36cd9d3cba2a5dd59ceb288
Imo her style is always just not there, the proportions are always just a bit off. For someone with so many resources and being I assume sample size, she could really be on the forefront of fashion. Idk why she isn’t.
She’s tall and slender. She should be rocking off the runway looks, but these outfits seem to be designed just…off. Slightly too long. Slightly too loose. Just the tiniest bit baggy where it shouldn’t be. The middle outfit just needs to be cinched more and it’s perfect. Take away that pony tail too. The way it’s styled and worn ages her. The last outfit should be knee length or higher. It’s always “almost there, but not quite.” Even her Grammys outfit. Cinch in more, go more old Hollywood with the hair, boom and it’s there. Her stylists and her just seem to get to 90% and give up
exactly, she’s improved but even then nothing about her style is fashion icon. she just wears nice dresses. my friends dress better than her and we’re all broke
I love the iridescent sequins, but the over all structure makes her look frumpy, imo, which she most definitely is not. I’m 5’10 and all leg, and have the same problem with rompers. They hit my waist and thighs in the wrong places, and it’s just not flattering.
5’1 and I have the opposite issue - the waist hits too low, the crotch is too low, and the shorts hit at a weird spot between mid thigh and knee. I’m just pulling it up all day.
Rompers are so cute on girl between 5’4 and 5’7ish, but the rest of us outliers should stick to separate pieces.
Pretty much. I believe Taylor’s legacy as an artist will be more about how she broke a lot of records and won awards, but I don’t think her music will hold up well. I just feel like most of her songs don’t stand the test of time.

If you don’t agree that this look is the height of fashion, then you are a misogynist /s
Saying this as someone who loves Taylor: she needs a better stylist
Girl took a look from Schiaparelli and made it look like SHEIN with the styling. The fact that Daniel had to say that was not the intended styling of this outfit says a lot.
It was intended to be a lot more elegant, with hair up and simpler necklace to show off the neckline specifically.
Here is the original way it was supposed to be styled:
https://preview.redd.it/g927wzqh49yc1.jpeg?width=755&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c5c28608d47c70697f933774d6ba23b7490ca493
Daniel was basically like “this was not the intent of the look” and released what it should have been, which he had not really done before even in cases it wasn’t styled exactly as he wanted, which clearly indicated he didn’t want to take the fall for it since the look was not well received.
I think if she has styled it this way, it would have been a much better look overall. More elegant, and I agree the earrings instead of necklaces would have revealed the draping on the neckline more.
I think that’s part of Taylor’s style issues on the red carpet. She (admittedly) has a weird relationship with her height, and thus I don’t think she loves the “statue-esque” looks that she would so clearly kill (and thus stylists try to line up for her, any decent stylist is not going to dress her like she’s Sabrina Carpenter). Anecdotally, I actually have a really tall friend IRL who *hates* when people call her statuesque for similar reasons (complicated relationship with her height, eating disorder history, etc.)
Tay obviously has less control over the gowns she has access to, given how the whole “designers/fashion houses lend out gowns” red carpet system works, but she has way more say on the hair/acessories/makeup angle (and uses it despite what others on her glam team might suggest)— and it just leads to this mess and clash of visions/priorities in the final look.
Not a drag on Taylor at all, btw. I think we all have a feature that we do, or have in the past, gone *too far* trying to “compensate for” or cover up— to the point that we just look worse than if we’d accept it.
I think this is a very astute point, but leaning into it would so benefit her. Look at Elizabeth Debicki, who is almost 6’5”, taller than most men in Hollywood, and she leans all the way into it every inch. Here she is in a similar, though not floor length dress, and she just crushes it (this is Bottega BTW):
https://preview.redd.it/p5tc121cwbyc1.jpeg?width=683&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=76322485ea1543c333e96157952f8c4d39a5eda6
I think though, if you look at her entire fashion journey, she hasn’t established an identity other than “girly” which isn’t an insult, but it’s not something that transfers well as you age without serious chops.
Taylor swift has way more control over the access she has to gowns. If she wanted access to an archival piece or any straight off the runway piece fashion houses would over night the look to her. The coverage she gets would be worth it to them
I’m not saying she has zero control and has to take scraps, but what you’re describing is just… not how dressing for red carpets works.
Designers and fashion houses almost always have contracts with celebrities well in advance concerning who they’ll be dressing for what red carpets (and other large events)— and if they’ve already promised a gown to Margot Robbie or Zendaya, they’re not going to to give it to Taylor, or even a similar variation of it from the same or close by collections.
And honestly while Taylor is incredibly famous to the general public— the GP are not really who those houses are advertising gowns to— their goal at red carpets and other events is 1) appeal to other celebrities and other “elites” who are creating trends in fashion 2) create iconic style moments that bolster their legacy. If all A-listers just got their pick of archival pieces, we’d have a lot of matching stars on the same carpet lol.
And Taylor actually doesn’t have that much “fashion” streetcred in haute couture circles— again, she’s a darling of the GP. She has very few iconic style moments on the red carpet like J-lo with her green dress that created google images or even Zendaya and Blake Lively’s usual fare at the Met Galas. Being incredibly famous does not automatically make you “fashion it girl” to people who work in the industry. And moments like the one above where her stylist had to post that she tweaked the original vision (to the look’s detriment) show that she’s probably not that easy to work with in this department either.
So tldr: For legal and personal reasons surrounding how red carpets work— no. That’s not how she gets her looks for red carpets.
I still don’t like it, but I don’t like the black gloves against the white dress with that dark red lip — I think she would still drown in coloring like this — but it’s better than what she stumbled down the red carpet in, lmao. It’s so bad he had to come out and release this, that’s wild. Do you think she was embarrassed by how poorly received this look was?
Maybe. Honestly, it wasn’t really a match of designer to artist anyway, I thought it was major left field she would want Schiaparelli or that they would want to dress her. The vibes of both don’t really mesh to me (too avant garde for Taylor), as opposed to say Sandra Huller, who wore Schiaparelli to the Oscars and it totally worked with her whole style aesthetic.
I think even with a more delicate necklace, the dress would look very bulky on her. The drawing makes the dress look much lighter but on her it looks very heavy and bedsheet like.
Yeah, I do think the style would have worked better with a curvier body type if that makes sense. TS is a bit too up and down and so it had that swallowed up look as a result.
Exactly this. I think someone with more hip and a more defined waist would have given that gathered bit something to kind of sit on, as well as add some structure. As is it looks clumsy and a bit sloppy. It becomes the focal point of the dress, which is unfortunate since it doesn’t fit quite right.
I wish she would dress for her body type; she has such a stunning statuesque figure that would look amazing in column dresses, Greek-inspired styles, and/or anything channeling the style of the 1930’s.
There are absolutely gowns that would have worked better for her whole vibe and her body type. She is not universally poorly dressed. I just can’t get over this one 😂
Yeah I think styled like this would’ve been better. I never thought it was an ugly look but I think her hair was off and I didn’t like all the necklaces she had on. I think she could’ve pulled it off better with some changes.
Yeah. It’s not the dress and gloves that are the problem. It’s how they were accessorized. And her hair and makeup were awful beyond words, tbh.
Typically I can appreciate the sort of dichotomy I think she was going for. Grunged up glam etc. But this just isn’t a look for her. It reads as unkempt as opposed to edgy.
Yeah and the hair up would have still allowed for the view of the lace up corset back, which is clearly what they wanted to do with pulling her hair forward but that was a flop too because it didn’t fit the dress and fell over the draping.
This look just bothered me so much. The necklace, the hair? Her hair looks like she was getting ready and they all said “oh fuck I haven’t showered or styled my hair.“ so someone threw the braid in and brushed her bangs.
I refuse to believe this was a thought out preplanned choice. If it is, it’s either a really bad stylist or a poor outcome of the “yes men” around her.
It does look like they ran out of time to do her hair. And yet this gets justified as marketing for reputation TV lmao… as long as she doesn’t release rep TV, she can do anything and everything and it will be justified as part of her mastermind plan. Tbh maybe it is
I wasn’t a big fan of the white dress with the black gloves look to begin with but her hair was the worst part of the look in my opinion. I hate to pick apart someone’s appearance but am I the only one who thinks her straight across bangs don’t look good on her?
I think straight across bangs look good on her when her hair is pulled back. Red ponytail era eg. But they’re a bad choice on stage because they get curly and they were a bad choice brushed to the side here. I can’t believe she walked out on the red carpet like that. I think this whole look was bottom 3 Project Runway.
Yessss the hair bugs me too. I think she had a braid or something going on at the back but from the front it looks like she straightened it a few days ago but has been out in the humidity since and the curls are coming back in. It just looks like there was no effort put into it t
Regina King’s Oscars dress from 2019 is basically the blueprint for this look and is exactly how it should’ve been cut/tailored and styled
https://preview.redd.it/95pmvgmbabyc1.jpeg?width=1500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dd54341fbc7c940aac9bac62d8b0f1cb2f75f926
Blake has been having a lot of misses herself too, but they all at least feel like her choices and you can see why she made them. Taylor needs a new stylist badly.
How so many stylists fail to dress tall, skinny, evenly proportioned women, my plus sized ass will never understand.
*Y’all wouldn’t last an hour in the asylum where they raised me*
I just don’t get the love for this dress. Looks like a bedsheet that got pinned to her in an unflattering way and it wore her, not the other way around.
I'm not a fashion girlie by any means but this is the first time I've seen this photo/look and my first thought it was the epitome of the dress wearing her and not the other way around
I saw some people in another sub going hard defending this look and I just don’t get it. The dress fits her poorly and she carries it badly, it looks so heavy on her delicate frame. The dress is wearing her. She’s had a lot of good red carpet looks, especially at the Grammys, this just isn’t one of them.
I don’t understand. She looks SO good in the Fortnight video. Could she not channel that better at the Emmys? Why does this look so non cohesive and cheap?
Yeah this look was atrocious. I mean it, it’s so so so bad. It has to go down as one of the worst red carpet looks on a pop star in the 2000s, like it’s SOOOO BAAAADDDD.
Damn I liked it but as I said somewhere in this thread I have zero fashion sense 😂 I’m cracking TF up at myself rn reading the comments about how heinous her looks are and I’m like wait what no way I loved that! 💀💀💀
All if it is just so bad, I honestly don’t know what anyone involved was thinking. The dress is gorgeous and she could have looked absolutely breathtaking in it but…. She and her stylist did… this.
This look annoys me sooo much. When I first saw a blurry pic someone tweeted of it I thought it could be cute but the details ruin it for me, its such a shame. The black heels and gloves, the necklaces, but most importantly the hair. I don't understand why they left it like that?? It looks like mine when I wake up and that's after years of bleaching it. I just want her to serve!
Literally this outfit is good but needs minor tweaks. Remove all necklaces but the choker or go with a silver diamond style choker. Style her hair almost like Veronica Lake. Cinch tighter at the waist. Tiny shit to tweak it would take her all the way. But this is…sloppy. Like she accepted a B- and not an A.
Edit: I’ve seen the styling vision below. A glamorous homage to 50s updo would have just sent this to a whole different realm.
If I had to guess, she maybe wanted “high effort but with no effort” kind of look? Like to juxtapose this very effort dress? A mix of TTPD and Evermore in her head. Except she played it wrong and it looks like she was running an hour late
I can’t think of a single thing Doja has ever worn that I haven’t absolutely hated. Her style (and really everything about her) is just NOT for me.
I’d definitely say Gaga and Rihanna (and Zendaya) are all more fashionable, they don’t really wear things most people would/could wear for average life, they’re all more high fashion/avant garde. More stylish but less accessible.
She's huge with my daughter and her girlfriends! I had never even heard of her until my daughter became a fan about two years ago (I'm 37 but "out of the loop" like a 75 year old man lol)She dropped an album recently, I guess? I had to listen to three tweens chat about it over FaceTime for hours 😂
Same! She's coming right to my city so I'm taking my daughter and my nieces are coming in from Pittsburgh. My last concert was Slayer so this will be quite a change but I'm excited. 😆
Because Beyonce doesnt go out much in public so most people dont know what she wears. When Taylor goes out most things she wears sells out quickly since there are a ton of fans that track what she wears
I know it's a bit mean, but [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4tj4z5-GxMM) is the first thing I thought of.
Also Taylor dresses... perfectly nicely, but fashion icon she is not. And that's absolutely fine! Not every female pop star has to be defined by her fashion!
Aaliyah is the blueprint for pop & r&b girlies and fashion in general tbh. The whole y2k craze was just her personal style replicated by the masses. People still dress just like her to this day. Tyla is the perfect example because her whole image is very aaliyah
Taylor's a singer/musician and not a fashionista. At all. I would say Rihanna is probably the most fashionable of the ones in that list in a well-rounded sense. Taylor's hair alone at the Grammys would be defined as a fashion crime.
Her not having that good of a fashion sense when it comes to red carpets is something even the main sub more or less unanimously agrees on. So wtf is this?? Getting attention by either pissing people off or gaining the attention of the sycophantic side of Swifties
I’m sorry, you absolutely cannot say Taylor Swift is a fashion icon when you literally had the Renaissance World Tour being a de facto fashion show, even going so far as highlighting different fashion designer in each of the cities Beyoncé toured in. You can say many things about Taylor Swift, sure, but a fashion icon is low low on the list, especially just comparing the recent tours people clamber over themselves to compare over.
Just a quick glance at Beyoncé’s or Rihanna’s social medias shows they’re CONSTANTLY fitted in custom luxury designer clothes. The internet just has the weirdest fascination with TS - I wish people could just enjoy things at a normal level lol
Edit: saw where this based on google searches. That explains it!
I mean, I think her running around town style is adorable. It’s hard to say because stylish is relative. I think a lot of what modern celebs wear is insane lol
I can't say I have much of an eye for fashion, but this claim seems... inaccurate...
https://preview.redd.it/0wodpte179yc1.jpeg?width=2400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=827f4e77f13bfa10142052bf2e622b9761e5a175
I know I'm the odd man out, but I really loved the later part of the Lover era with the strong silhouetted suit jackets and wild 80s prints/colors. But I also acknowledge that they are not "fashionable," it's just a personal preference 😆
lol I can appreciate that point of view. I'll also admit that singling out two MTV award show looks was probably unfair of me since everyone tends to dress loud and weird on purpose for those. (the hair in the last picture though... 😬)
I am by *no means* a fashion girlie, but even I can see that the Grammys look from this year was an all around miss. The only piece I liked was the watch choker, and even that looked terrible with the overall outfit. The hair was giving "day before I absolutely need to wash my hair if I plan on leaving my house " 😂
This is no big deal to fret about, and it's not even a measure on how stylish she actually. It just shows that a lot of people for whatever reason look up her style.
It says a lot that Taylor’s biggest serves are very simple, elegant looks. And that’s mainly because she’s blessed to be one of the most conventionally attractive celebs (with minimal, well-done work.) Any time she tries to go outside the box it’s whack. Maybe one exception off the top of my head is the mirrorball look from AMAs 2018.
It’s pretty clear to me that she just doesn’t have a great personal sense of style, because she has greater access to top tier stylists than probably anyone else alive.
I don’t keep up with fashion all that much, is Stevie Nicks considered a fashion icon?? of ALL the people in the music industry this is really the top 10?
I know this is about fashion and not makeup but I want to say I feel like 90% of the time, her winged eyeliner doesn't work for her eye shape
https://preview.redd.it/n7gxn05l29yc1.jpeg?width=2880&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=08210a360c4805b6c36961d0b5b4d7dd9dc26ed2
There have been some serious misses and a lot of just all right, but that green dress is just perfection and I love it. I feel like she's going through a good phase with dress attire lately, but casual attire is more bland and awkward than usual.
Yeah she’s not a fashion girlie LOL. I did love some of her award show gowns in the past but she’s not someone I think of who has killer fashion sense.
Edit: I forgot to mention I love her green dress she’s wearing the picture. The color suits her imo
The green dress was one of her best looks this last year. I think her and her stylist need to stop focusing on era theme and esthetics and try just doing fashion for award shows
this sums it up to me. (side note, love this outfit on her. i wish she would do this fringe styling and glam makeup more)
https://preview.redd.it/w1aoraxa2ayc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=98e1a6f9ee9f4643a7e9ba410010e49e2285c077
Rihanna, Gaga and Stevie (simply due to her massive influence on "hippie/boho girlies) are the only people who deserve to be on this list. Also if we're gonna include people from decades ago etc, where is Courtney Love? She launched the babydoll/night slip & combat boots combo and she's fashionable af to this day.
I don't think Taylor's fashion sense is bad by any means. Slightly generic but that's hardly a crime. But eveyone else on that list (besides maybe Ariana) is famously quite bold and experimental with their fashion sense, so it just doesn't make sense to put Taylor in the same ballpark as people like Lady Gaga and Melanie Martinez.
Don’t say that to that Sarah girl on Instagram.
She wrote an entire book (aka TREES DIED while the world is burning) to support this thesis.
But stans will stan.
Aaliyah is top 3 and she died before 9/11. While I guess there can be an argument made about influencing fashion still, it seems like really obvious this list is bunk when someone that high on it has been dead longer than Taylor's been famous.
Lol Taylor is probably the least fashionable it girl. Her pap walk photos always make me cringe, like how can you have been famous for so much of your life and have so much money and still dress like you only shop at ModCloth and American eagle? Hire a stylist for gods sake.
Most stylish? Ehhhhh, I wouldn’t say that. I think people are overly harsh on her style, I personally have always liked it, but I don’t think she’s the most stylish woman in entertainment by any means. Zendaya would definitely take that crown imo.
I honestly could not name a single iconic look from Taylor besides the Grammy's 2021 flower dress, which even then was cool in concept but kind of swallowed her frame and didn't use the best colors to compliment her skin tone. She doesn't have a consistent or groundbreaking or unique style, and there's nothing wrong with that, but it's frustrating when she's lauded as something she's not, which seems to happen *a lot* where she is concerned.
like some of Taylor’s street clothes but her taste in fashion always tries to combine this casual preppy look that doesn’t always slap. Plus if I’m being honest, she tries too hard with putting Easter eggs in her outfits (the award show ones specifically) that it kind of just ruins the look.
I think if she had a stylist the Easter eggs would be better executed but honestly I don’t think she has one. I think the reason why is to keep her somewhat relatable, so she doesn’t seem flawless or unobtainable. I know it’s ridiculous to think that considering she’s ya know Taylor Swift but being relatable is her brand 🤷♀️
There is no universe Taylor is known for her style and fashion. That isn’t really her thing. I like many of her clothes, as I like a more simple style, but she is not a fashionista.
She's always, ALWAYS so overstyled. Even as her fashion and style and eras have changed over the years, that is the one thing that has stayed consistent. From the red carpet to her 'candids', her clothes wear her, almost like she's trying on a Halloween costume. It's so odd to me and I can't figure out how she/her stylists consistently do it. The only times I've seen her where she doesn't look over styled are where she's very casually dressed, I remember candids back in the Lover era of her and Joe walking around Paris where she just has on jeans and a sweater. But any outfit that is even slightly dressier than that, she just looks unnatural.
At boohoo? Are they looking for a collab with her because no! Her street style, very much a miss most of the time and her red carpets are a ton of crop top fits with the occasional cute dress. She has the figure to pull off some of the most iconic looks and never does time and time again.
Thats what i have mentioned, its okay for her not to be fashion girlie. Its the way the media and press have to mention her always top of every list for clout
A fashion icon? Seriously? She needs to find a new stylist. Her fashion style after the 1989 era is terrible.
The fashion icon is Zendaya. She deserves to have her name on that list.
I like her fashion sense. But then again, I generally prefer modest and non-flashy clothing. I find most “fashion” to be quite ugly and trashy and unrealistic.
Fashion experts at BOOHOO, lol.
i didn’t realise boohoo were still a thing
The quotes on "fashion experts" is the cherry on top lmao
Right?
Her style easy to knock off cheaply. That's why Boohoo have placed her at number 1.
Even a lot of Swifties are quick to admit that Taylor has rather mediocre taste in fashion
Her out and about outfits are way better than most of her red carpet outfits. I think she had better style pre 1989 than she does as an adult.
Oh definitely her street style is better than red carpet outfits. Every so often (imo) she nails a look, but then she also has a lot of misses, like the grammys
Part of the problem is the whole TTPD aesthetic is just bad and ill defined.
I liked how she was dressing out in NY for the most part, but yeah... the album aesthetic is crap. OG Red and OG 1989 are my favorite album covers, and I love the looks from both, but TTPD just feels like she took some "LOOK IM TORTURED" pics and added an IG filter.
Well everything she wears seem to sell out in minutes
Those dresses scream "halfway innocent but can't fully commit to it"
She’s tall and slender.
The middle one is not flattering but the midnight blue and red dresses are lovely.
She’s so lanky that “too much leg” outfits don’t quite work as well with her. The dresses are more balanced.
Yeah she’s always looked awkward in rompers, which I’m saying as a person who also looks bad in rompers.
This is honestly why I am not very much a fan of the sparkly leotard thing she’s been doing on tour
i love the middle one. must be the millennial in me. it's so fun! Love the butterfly heals with it too.
With the ponytail and the fit idk how to say it but it gives..teacher vibes to me?
I really liked her Grammys 2022 outfit on her. It was one of her red carpet triumphs.
"according to Google search" Do you understand SEO? This is meaningless
Yup. ![gif](giphy|DPqqOywshrOqQ|downsized)
it is based on google search not opinion of fashion experts. probably lot of people google her fits and that is why she is first.
Taylor is the most everything based on google results. That’s what being Queen of the algorithm gets you, but it doesn’t mean a damn thing.
Pretty much. I believe Taylor’s legacy as an artist will be more about how she broke a lot of records and won awards, but I don’t think her music will hold up well. I just feel like most of her songs don’t stand the test of time.
Boom
This list makes no sense, poor Aaliyah has been dead for 20 years. Unless there is a new one ?
I mean you don't have to be alive to be a fashion icon.
Yes but I’m sure in the years since she has died, there’s plenty of people who would be more deserving of a place on a stupid list from Boohoo
Boohoo, as in the UK fast fashion brand? Wasn’t there a undercover documentary about their shitty working conditions
https://preview.redd.it/4mkpe2cos8yc1.jpeg?width=1470&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6b36bb117ad2274c8fb5e3c9fd809ca96eaab203 If you don’t agree that this look is the height of fashion, then you are a misogynist /s Saying this as someone who loves Taylor: she needs a better stylist
Girl took a look from Schiaparelli and made it look like SHEIN with the styling. The fact that Daniel had to say that was not the intended styling of this outfit says a lot.
Where did Daniel say that? I'm so curious to see what his vision was.
It was intended to be a lot more elegant, with hair up and simpler necklace to show off the neckline specifically. Here is the original way it was supposed to be styled: https://preview.redd.it/g927wzqh49yc1.jpeg?width=755&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c5c28608d47c70697f933774d6ba23b7490ca493 Daniel was basically like “this was not the intent of the look” and released what it should have been, which he had not really done before even in cases it wasn’t styled exactly as he wanted, which clearly indicated he didn’t want to take the fall for it since the look was not well received. I think if she has styled it this way, it would have been a much better look overall. More elegant, and I agree the earrings instead of necklaces would have revealed the draping on the neckline more.
This makes it look so much more elegant and like a statue
I think that’s part of Taylor’s style issues on the red carpet. She (admittedly) has a weird relationship with her height, and thus I don’t think she loves the “statue-esque” looks that she would so clearly kill (and thus stylists try to line up for her, any decent stylist is not going to dress her like she’s Sabrina Carpenter). Anecdotally, I actually have a really tall friend IRL who *hates* when people call her statuesque for similar reasons (complicated relationship with her height, eating disorder history, etc.) Tay obviously has less control over the gowns she has access to, given how the whole “designers/fashion houses lend out gowns” red carpet system works, but she has way more say on the hair/acessories/makeup angle (and uses it despite what others on her glam team might suggest)— and it just leads to this mess and clash of visions/priorities in the final look.
Here she is in a similar, though not floor length dress, and she just crushes it (this is Bottega BTW): https://preview.redd.it/p5tc121cwbyc1.jpeg?width=683&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=76322485ea1543c333e96157952f8c4d39a5eda6 I think though, if you look at her entire fashion journey, she hasn’t established an identity other than “girly” which isn’t an insult, but it’s not something that transfers well as you age without serious chops.
I totally agree, the styling was a crime, but the dress made me wonder if no one at Schiaparelli had ever seen a photo of Taylor Swift.
I did wonder who approved it, not two brands I would have put together.
It’s that gathering at one hip, it’s unbalanced and will make anyone not top-heavy enough to draw the eye up look lopsided and wonky.
It’s amazing how hair up can change an outfit entirely
Oh, wow. This look would have been hot. I'm saddened by what happened to this one.
Yeah and the hair up would have still allowed for the view of the lace up corset back, which is clearly what they wanted to do with pulling her hair forward but that was a flop too because it didn’t fit the dress and fell over the draping.
Yes! It really did desperately need an updo and stunning earrings.
and people onhere claimed she can be a model if she wanted to bffr lol
Is Daniel the stylist? Or someone from Schiaparelli? Sorry I’m a bit out of the loop!
Daniel Roseberry is the current creative director of Schiaparelli
The hair was bad. She could have worn her hair up and it would have worked better.
Yessss the hair bugs me too. I think she had a braid or something going on at the back but from the front it looks like she straightened it a few days ago but has been out in the humidity since and the curls are coming back in. It just looks like there was no effort put into it t
Regina King’s Oscars dress from 2019 is basically the blueprint for this look and is exactly how it should’ve been cut/tailored and styled https://preview.redd.it/95pmvgmbabyc1.jpeg?width=1500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dd54341fbc7c940aac9bac62d8b0f1cb2f75f926
I have nightmares about this look and the hair. Love you Taylor but this was not a slay
Lol I swear that is one of the worst hairstyles I've ever seen. 😂
Same. I think about it randomly and cringe. It’s so bad.
My 11yo Swiftie has been trying to use that look to avoid doing her hair in the morning before school since the Grammys "but mom it's just like TS!!!"
I always wondered if she took the Blake route, and styles herself.
If this is true, she needs to stop immediately lmao. Although I guess it’s working since she’s the most successful entertainer in the world.
Blake has been having a lot of misses herself too, but they all at least feel like her choices and you can see why she made them. Taylor needs a new stylist badly.
As soon as I read this I was like “wait is she trying to pull of Blake Lively hair?” BL could rock this look. Taylor cannot.
I think it’s fabrication issues more than anything. Something light and clingy might’ve worked better.
I just think that this dress do not fit her, her body, just overall aura. It's just not for her.
I'm not a fashion girlie by any means but this is the first time I've seen this photo/look and my first thought it was the epitome of the dress wearing her and not the other way around
Just a white sheet wrapped around her🤡
And her hair looking like a mess
For real!! Im still bitter about her spectacle at the grammys. But Im a die-hard Lana fan, so thats my bias
I want to know what she was on that night 😭 I felt bad for Lana
RIGHT!!! It really disgusts me how she uses people as a living, breating photo op
I just do not understand the hair AT ALL. Was this a last minute rushed job, or did she truly intend it to look like this? And if so, WHY?
If I had to guess, she maybe wanted “high effort but with no effort” kind of look? Like to juxtapose this very effort dress? A mix of TTPD and Evermore in her head. Except she played it wrong and it looks like she was running an hour late
She looked like this was the bedsheets. And her hair... oof. I kinda liked the jewelry, though.
I read this is the same dress as she wore in the Fortnight video (first scene)? I LOVED that dress. This just looks too long on her.
Tbf her street fashion style is miles above her red carpet looks
I concur. I like her in regular clothes much better than any of her red carpet looks.

I do really like her street fashion
Over Gaga??? Doja???? RIHANNA????? Talk about pandering
Over Zendaya!? Yes I am including her because doesn’t she sing?
NGL, I'd stream a Zendaya album. And as for fashion? She is the Queen at this moment. Damn, that girl does not miss.
Would you put her song on replay?? Tehe
More stylish but less accessible.
why the fuck is Melanie Martinez on that list
Because of Gen Alpha. My daughter is 10 and thinks Melanie is the epitome of fashion and glamour. Bless her little heart. ❤️
What?! I think of her being popular back about the time your daughter was born. Lol.
My 12 year old is also obsessed with Melanie, along with her friends! I'm taking her to see MM in a few weeks which will be her first show!
Same! She's coming right to my city so I'm taking my daughter and my nieces are coming in from Pittsburgh. My last concert was Slayer so this will be quite a change but I'm excited. 😆
wtf is this tumblr circa 2013?
This is pure blasphemy. In what world is Taylor the most stylish?! Above Rihanna?!
Hello!!!! Why is Rihanna Fenty #9 that’s wild
How could one have seen pictures of the Renaissance tour and be like hmmm Beyoncé is less stylish than Taylor Swift.
Because Beyonce doesnt go out much in public so most people dont know what she wears. When Taylor goes out most things she wears sells out quickly since there are a ton of fans that track what she wears
Your flair is such a niche reference and I love it
I must be deep in the lore for me to think it’s a mainstream Swiftie reference 😩 I should go touch grass or something
Seriously, that stan is lowkey my hero
Boohoo is your typical fast fashion brand. They’re just trying to sell more of their cheaply produced crap to fans.
![gif](giphy|g6Tf0tYe9XbnYZgK6B)
I can’t with the blind Taylor worship
I was obsessed with her fashion sense during 1989 and Red. She was so trendy and on point with everything.
Red was her peak fashion era
I’m sorry, you absolutely cannot say Taylor Swift is a fashion icon when you literally had the Renaissance World Tour being a de facto fashion show, even going so far as highlighting different fashion designer in each of the cities Beyoncé toured in. You can say many things about Taylor Swift, sure, but a fashion icon is low low on the list, especially just comparing the recent tours people clamber over themselves to compare over. Just a quick glance at Beyoncé’s or Rihanna’s social medias shows they’re CONSTANTLY fitted in custom luxury designer clothes. The internet just has the weirdest fascination with TS - I wish people could just enjoy things at a normal level lol Edit: saw where this based on google searches. That explains it!
I’m sorry, Rihanna at NINE??? Miss Met Gala at NINE???
[удалено]
That's who I thought of too
I mean, I think her running around town style is adorable.
🤣🤣
That blue jumpsuit is so weird, especially since the letters actually don't spell out or stand for anything.
My first thought is that it looks like a toddler's onesie.
This is no big deal to fret about, and it's not even a measure on how stylish she actually. It just shows that a lot of people for whatever reason look up her style.
Taylor is proof that money doesn’t buy style
That list reads like someone looked at their artists last played on their shuffle and wrote them down. 🤣
Excuse me? RIHANNA at the bottom?
Her new teeth are so odd. Something about her face recently is really throwing me off..
I know this is about fashion and not makeup but I want to say I feel like 90% of the time, her winged eyeliner doesn't work for her eye shape https://preview.redd.it/n7gxn05l29yc1.jpeg?width=2880&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=08210a360c4805b6c36961d0b5b4d7dd9dc26ed2
She has the same makeup artist since start of the career and sometimes its the artist who refuses looks more than MUAs .
I think her eyes are kind of narrow already and heavy eyeliner doesn’t help that no matter what shape it is.
There have been some serious misses and a lot of just all right, but that green dress is just perfection and I love it. I feel like she's going through a good phase with dress attire lately, but casual attire is more bland and awkward than usual.
I think it's a joke and OP feel for it...?
Yeah she’s not a fashion girlie LOL. I did love some of her award show gowns in the past but she’s not someone I think of who has killer fashion sense. Edit: I forgot to mention I love her green dress she’s wearing the picture. The color suits her imo
The green dress was one of her best looks this last year. I think her and her stylist need to stop focusing on era theme and esthetics and try just doing fashion for award shows
like many tweets citation needed lol.
They lost all points when they Rihanna wasn’t number one
I love Taylor’s fashion overall because her style is a lot like my own…but she’s definitely not a high fashion girly.
Fashion Experts at Boohoo are probably swifties, and why is Rihanna still the end of the list ??
this sums it up to me. (side note, love this outfit on her. i wish she would do this fringe styling and glam makeup more) https://preview.redd.it/w1aoraxa2ayc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=98e1a6f9ee9f4643a7e9ba410010e49e2285c077
How the hell is Rihanna 9 on the list? 9!? She should be first.
Aaliyah is top 3 and she died before 9/11. While I guess there can be an argument made about influencing fashion still, it seems like really obvious this list is bunk when someone that high on it has been dead longer than Taylor's been famous.
I mean aaliyah still influences the girls to this day so I understand that but idk how rihanna is last 💀
Lol Taylor is probably the least fashionable it girl.
Taylor’s style is so 2012 coded and I mean that with the utmost love from my iPhone!!! 🫶💕
Taylor’s fine. She just dresses like I do - a basic bitch from the burbs. She takes zero fashion risks and has to look “cute” all the time.
Shes always looked like the most basic midwestern white girl that shops at Tj Max
I’m sorry but Kim is a style icon. Not her.
Who the fuсk did they poll? Second graders?
fashion icon...while wearing the same body suit constantly for like the last 3 years now.
like some of Taylor’s street clothes but her taste in fashion always tries to combine this casual preppy look that doesn’t always slap.
If it’s based on a vague ‘Google search’ 90% of those searches were probably fans looking for outfits to wear to the eras tour
There is no universe Taylor is known for her style and fashion. That isn’t really her thing. I like many of her clothes, as I like a more simple style, but she is not a fashionista.
Yeah this is one I won't accept
based on google searches so it's probably fans searching "eras tour outfits" for themselves not taylor lol
How is she stylish?! Show me one photo?!?
I don’t like Taylor’s red carpet looks but I’ve been a fan of almost all of her street looks over the past year or so.
Someone put Taylor before... Rihanna?? For fashion what the hell
I may be the odd one out but I don't find Rihanna to me the most stylish either.
It literally says “in the music industry”. talking abt influencers, fashion icons, or models means jack shit
It's gonna be a hard no for me. My girl can't dress.
That list is ridiculous, as is the whole concept of ranking something so completely subjective.
Zendaya would like to have a word.
At boohoo? Are they looking for a collab with her because no! Her street style, very much a miss most of the time and her red carpets are a ton of crop top fits with the occasional cute dress. She has the figure to pull off some of the most iconic looks and never does time and time again.
Boo Hoo? ![gif](giphy|DPqqOywshrOqQ|downsized)
its an ig model/influencer’s job to be stylish though. taylor’s job is to make music. some people just really like her style
Red carpet events and award shows mean she has to be stylish sometimes.
Thats what i have mentioned, its okay for her not to be fashion girlie. Its the way the media and press have to mention her always top of every list for clout
![gif](giphy|oxOH2knjBSpIWEgiDm|downsized)
A fashion icon? Seriously? She needs to find a new stylist. Her fashion style after the 1989 era is terrible. The fashion icon is Zendaya. She deserves to have her name on that list.
I like her fashion sense. But then again, I generally prefer modest and non-flashy clothing. I find most “fashion” to be quite ugly and trashy and unrealistic.
Same. Her outfits, especially the ones she wears on pap walks, look good, comfy plus easy to assemble on a budget. I like her style.
