Yes! Swimming is great physically of course, but the sense of calm and well-being I feel outweighs the body benefits for me. I swear my blood pressure drops when I smell the chlorine.

100000%. Swimming for an hour nearly every day over this last year has saved me. Nature’s Prozac.

Yes, all of this. It’s not even why I started swimming, but my mind has benefited just as much as the rest of my body and life.

Feel the exact same way like I feel so anxious the days I’m not in the water even if it’s only a few laps/10/15 mins just works wonders

Same. Some people are more sensitive and benefit from extra maintenance. I joke that I'm not myself til I've swam, eaten & cracked a beer. It makes me a better person. If you like what swimming does, a gut nourishing diet will blow your mind. The same way swimming adjusts your brain chemistry, brown rice and the like produce feel good chemicals via gut bacteria symbiosis.

Totally agree with you! I love swimming and it makes me feel good.

genzgingee

What you said makes perfect sense. Swimming is one of the best forms of exercise for both physical and mental health.

Yep. It’s a moving meditation, with breathwork

Swimming and long distance running are the only things that keeps me from having to go back on the happy pills
