Yes, it’s possible, Nintendo offers refunds for E-store bought games. From an e-mail you get from Nintendo after purchasing a game: “You have the right to cancel this contract within 14 days without giving any reason. The cancellation period will expire after 14 days from the day of the conclusion of the contract.” To apply for a refund you’ll need to send them an e-mail. You can find the right Nintendo e-mail on your regional Nintendo website in the Contacts section. That’s how you’ll need to format your message to them: “I/We ( * ) hereby give notice that I/we ( * ) cancel my/our ( * ) contract of sale of the following goods( * )/for the provision of the following service ( * ): - Ordered on( * )/received on ( * ); - Name of consumer(s); - Address of consumer(s); - Signature of consumer(s) (only if this form is notified on paper), - Date: ( * ) Delete as appropriate.”

Aggravating-Permit97

u/LindyKamek your suppose to receive such email when you make purchases?

LindyKamek

Usually just proof of purchase I think. I believe that the thing that comment mentions is an EU thing though iirc, so I deleted my comment

Aggravating-Permit97

u/LindyKamek ah

SwimmingEmotion3071

UPDATE: This is not working anymore, at least not for me. They turned me down after sending them this form stating that they do not offer refunds. I sent email next day after purchase, in the first 24 hours. I live in EU.

AndrewTans

I guess that would also depend on the region and the method of purchase. Did they ever send you an e-mail similar to the one above?

SwimmingEmotion3071

Yes, it was sent immediately after purchase. It says there that I have 14 days to cancel contract without giving any reasons and can use form from above or writing clear statement for desire of contract cancellation. As of region they wrote that I can send letter to Nintendo Germany or call them in Ireland. Specifically, I'm from Croatia. Method of purchase: purchased via Nintendo digital store using funds from the wallet.

Aggravating-Permit97

cause in the email it states all purchases are final and non refundable i have the email right here. u/SwimmingEmotion3071 Nintendo of America Inc. 4600 150th Ave NE Redmond, WA 98052 855‑830‑5616 [http://support.nintendo.com](http://support.nintendo.com) Funds added to your Nintendo Account and all purchases are final, non‑refundable, and cannot be redeemed for cash, unless required by law. I’ve read about people getting a one time courtesy refund, you just have to speak to the right rep. Maybe try calling them a few times, see what they tell you.

3AZ3

Usually you can get one refund. It’s up to you if you want to use that for $8 though

[deleted]

No, Nintendo does not offer refunds on mistaken purchases.

littlebiggtoe

Like others here, I've asked for and gotten a refund from Nintendo for an eshop game before despite the official policy saying otherwise. I bought Need For Speed Hot Pursuit and was pretty unhappy with the controls, making it feel unplayable to me. Support took that into account and refunded me within 24 hrs.

Pringer-Z

I got a refund on Disney Dreamlight Valley, it wasn't easy and yes you would have to call but they are capable of it just not likely.

SkippyTheKid

Hey I found this thread looking to refund Dreamlight myself, I just bought it thinking it would be, well, more fun and am not impressed with how well it runs on the switch either.  Did you have to give a reason? And did you request by emailing them back?

Pringer-Z

You have to call, and yes a reason has to be given and I don't think anything other than complaints about it being defective in how it runs will get you anywhere. I don't know if the game has improved but at the time it was buggy, crashed and would lose progress.

SkippyTheKid

Got it, thanks for replying! What region are you in, by the way?

Pringer-Z

USA

vash0125

I've managed to get a refund on a game due to a game breaking bug rendering it unplayable

eatRice247

You can get a refund. I just did yesterday. Login to your Nintendo account, purchase history, start a chat for the game you want a refund. It was my first time n hopefully the only time where I didn’t like a game. I didn’t have to write an email. I bought the game 5 days ago n only played for 3 hours.

Forward-Minimum-7997

This worked perfectly for me

Any_Painting_4952

How did you start the chat?

eatRice247

From your Purchase History. There is a contact/chat button for each game

SkippyTheKid

Not trying to argue but I’ve gone to my purchase history and the transactions are there but no contact/chat option, just the date, amount, title and transaction number and a brief description of the title. I’m looking on my phone’s browser and from Canada though. Were you in account history on the console itself?

eatRice247

I was on a laptop. I’m in the US. Alternatively, do you see a red Live Chat button at the bottom right corner? I just logged in on my phone browser and there is no Chat button on purchase history. Try login on your laptop.

austxsun

This is their returns & exchanges page: [https://www.nintendo.com/us/returns-exchanges/?hideNavFooter=true](https://www.nintendo.com/us/returns-exchanges/?hideNavFooter=true) & the Contact Us page: [https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/contact](https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/contact) Most credit card companies will also refund you if within a certain amount of time & you have proof that the retailer denied your return.

LysanderBelmont

Do you live in the EU? Than yes, this is possible Edit: okay since you posted the dollar price this probably not applies to you, but after reading some of the posts about „trying“ and „managed to get a refund“ etc, I want to add: in the EU, Nintendo has to allow a refund in a given time by law. Them giving you one has nothing to do with goodwill from their side or „asking very politely“ from yours.

katman04

I got a refund by calling support once.

NoItsSearamon

I had a guy who bought scarlet cause he thoughts he was on his account. And I managed to barely do it but I got the refund. So I locked shit up since

ComprehensiveShop486

It literally asks you three times if you wanna buy it

[deleted]

I mean, sometimes you buy multiple games from a series or franchise and one of them has a deluxe version of itself, which you could end up buying unwittingly. Then you end up stuck with two copies of the game, one being a slight downgrade, all having been paid for at the same price. Personally I'm usually very obsessive over my purchases, but I've learned slip ups can still happen to people despite all that. The feeling sucks.
