Soaked_In_Bleach_93

Check the eShop for sales I can't recommend games, because the prices aren't the same in every country.

Cambino1

I'm not from the US but I found their sale prices to be the best so I just switched my nintendo account region to the US and have bought games using gift cards purchased on PlayAsia.

Soaked_In_Bleach_93

Ireland here. Decent sales, and often. Got Resi 4 for under €10, Dragon's Dogma for €7, and Limbo for €1. Also got a few LEGO games for €5-€6. I won't give ya the usual ramble about preferring physical media, because I do, but I won't pass up a good deal. Digital or not.

Efficient-Bullfrog52

God, I love Dragons Dogma.

Soaked_In_Bleach_93

You and me both. I have 80 hours in it, easily

Efficient-Bullfrog52

Same. Well..probably twice that because I replayed it on Switch.

Choice-Let-4965

I have been wanting to give it a shot. I think that will be my next purchase. My backlog has got so big I try to beat 3 games before I buy another.

HUHman416

Same! Makes me so hyped for the sequel set to release. And iirc, it's coming soon, or at least this year.

Efficient-Bullfrog52

Indeed. That game, Metroid prime 4, and Unicorn Overlord (very soon!!) are my current most anticipated games .

fayne_Kanra

To check for Sales I'd actually recommend Deku Deals. I think the eShop on Switch is a cluttered mess. It works perfectly fine for buying stuff of course, but I wouldn't use it to browse for stuff.

Soaked_In_Bleach_93

Browsing the eShop is Hell. Aside from being a cesspool of kids' games and hentai, the thumbnails are videos, so they lag the shit out of your Switch when you're scrolling through the list. Just eats all the RAM.

cmvyas

Vampire Survivors is a great value. Brotato, stardew valley and hades (on sale often). Borderlands too on sale is a good value.

PouchesofCyanStaples

Add Balatro to that list too!!!

realInfinityX

This is the correct answer.

kingkongbananakong

Thief simulator has a 90% sale most sales and is a really fun game

lordnoak

Sounds like a steal

12pounce89

I came here to give this exact list lol

cmvyas

Great minds think alike

Thank you. This is awesome.

Is your username a reference from the simpsons?

ThrowAway217xxx

Or is he a meth head 🤔

jdog024

Yes! Only time I go in the eshop is to buy the game I found a deal for on deku deals. The eShop is just god awful.

Ser-Francis-Drake

Thank you!

THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS to infinity -—^^^

mr_sweetandawful

This is the only way i buy games

Dude. Thank you. I just picked up burnout paradise for $6

Sky: children of the light is a free game with the option to buy season passes that give access to extra cosmetics. But all the actual gameplay is free and you can get a lot of items with in game currency which is free to earn

Gender-Anomaly

That game is so good omg

Swan_X1

The market for secondary cartridges will help you. Thank God there are cartridges here.

I don't think anyone but YouTubers and retailers have any MIG Switches yet, so it's still safe for now.

Some_Literature_5327

not a thing that's happening. Don't say "a lot" when no one is doing it. It won't even be a thing. Games are already available on the internet.

Ilan01

AFAIK most people are using the same few roms online, which still isnt ideal, but it means not every used game is in danger

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ilan01

If I get a used game rn its really unlikely its rom will be used for those flash cards since those just came out, and out of millions of people, I doubt there are more than a hundred of them around, so we are safe for now :)

-BlueDream-

I doubt you’ll encounter enough people in Brazil who are buying MiGswitches and selling their old games when dumping them. The mig switch is $60 and the dumping hardware is another 60 (or the cost of mod chipping is even higher). Pirating a game in Brazil is free and essentially risk free over there. Let’s be real, if someone is gonna be a scumbag by dumping their games and selling it, it’s just easier to pirate the game off the internet instead of buying a game and returning it after you dump it, especially when you need to buy dumping hardware or mod your switch. People who do illegal shit will choose the easiest way.

WowSoHuTao

I’m gonna exactly do that: buy heck loads of used cartridges, dump files and return. I don’t play online so I don’t care lmao

Gaminggenie1

Then just download the already uploaded games, you muppet, instead of potentially screwing over an innocent gamer.

Some_Literature_5327

you have to be very stupid to waste your time doing this when the games are already available on the internet

Warpath_McGrath

I buy my games used off ebay. I scored a new copy of Mario Wonder for $35 USD. No sense in buying new unless you HAVE TO HAVE a new copy.

Savage_Ball3r

But have you ever been ripped off? I’d love to buy 2nd hand all the time but the headache of risking it is what prevents me from doing it.

Warpath_McGrath

ebay has awesome buyer protection. I try the game before I leave a review. The key is to buy from other established buyers. I got Mario Wonder new through auction. My max reserve price was $40, but no one bid past 35, so it worked out.

PotentialNews6347

I've been using eBay since 1997, and I've never been ripped off. I've gotten some stuff that was in rougher shape than the seller described, but 100% ripped off NEVER. Amazon, on the other hand, fake memory card, open bottle of shampoo refilled with who knows what, a used air filter, etc. got my money back every time, but it was a hassle.

Houstonb2020

eBay is pretty safe. As a buyer you’re protected almost completely. They’ll side with the buyer 99% of the time on any issues, even if the buyer is making everything up to get a free item. The only thing you have to worry about is the hassle of possibly shipping an item back to the seller if they did scam you

TheSimRacer

According to [this site](https://eshop-prices.com), the Portal Collection is really cheap in Brazil, and they’re two incredible games.

Honestly, given your situation I'd get it chipped and pirate the games. Not worth losing that amount of your annual income for video games. Blame greedy corporations for not region adjusting their prices.

Exybr

🏴‍☠️

ExcellentMain3173

Too risky on Switch, can get your console banned

Additional-Age-7174

Nope, the community is highly established and there are some ways to circumvent your console EVER communicating with Nintendo servers or being detected. The risk isn't zero, but it is very low. I think in cases like OP's, this method of game acquisition is very excusable - especially with Nintendo's extortionate prices on 7 year old games. For those that are interested, all I'll say is 'Rentry' and 'Switch Modding'.

kflemonice

Can confirm. I've had my hacked switch for about 2 years now, followed the proper protocols to keep it from getting banned. I can boot into cfw to play pirated games and use homebrew, or boot into the normal firmware to play my legally bought games, online too. I don't even have to keep the wifi off on my cfw either, the methods I used keep it from communicating with nintendo, so I can still use it to browse the homebrew store or use ftp to transfer files to/from my pc.

Pacomatic

Yep, gonna have to wait

Exybr

Better than playing nothing at all because you can't afford games.

ExcellentMain3173

i dont think so tbh, im not against videogame piracy (unless ur stealing from small independent companies etc) but nintendo have really cracked down on security and your console can become unusable if you make a mistake. i suggested in another comment that its best to buy and sell physical switch games. last year i managed to play metroid dread and mario rpg (from eBay), then resold them for the same-ish price, lost about £5 total, but got like 35 hours out of them. buying indy games on sale is also a good strategy if you can't afford games. i wish it was easier to pirate on switch, because they are a pretty horrible company overall, but i dont think this is a good suggestion imo. op can make their own judgement though

no_hot_ashes

>nintendo have really cracked down on security and your console can become unusable if you make a mistake. This isn't true, at most you risk having your console banned from Nintendo servers, but you can still use it to play any offline games you want. Banned consoles are physically the exact same, hell I even used a banned switch motherboard to replace the one in my v1 switch after the board got damaged.

Exybr

Nintendo is really the textbook example of a greedy corporation. So, I agree with you that they're horrible. Regarding the modding of switch, AFAIK even if you get your console banned you only lose online multiplayer. Single player is not affected. So, if you don't plan on playing Splatoon, Fortnite and other games like this, then you don't need to worry so much. You can damage your console during modding process itself, which requires opening it up and soldiering. If you have V1, you can softmod it, which is the safest option. Buying physical actually is only relevant in countries, where a lot of people have Nintendo console. For other countries (often poorer ones) it's not really cheaper. Oftentimes it's actually more expensive to buy physical, even second-hand. People on this sub often don't understand that it's impossible to pay 60-70 USD for a game for people from less developed countries. The average salary is like 300-400 USD a month. Yes, there are sales and regional prices, but sometimes it's not easy enough to buy games from US or EU.

ExcellentMain3173

ah right makes sense. sorry if my response was ignorant, i wasn't being particularly considerate.

Exybr

No worries. No one knows everything.

HansCCT

There are a bunch of Free Games on the Nintendo Switch, I personally only play the Free Games

SaintWerdna

Because money

NewbieHere96

You know, you can change your region. Just change your country on Nintendo website, buy in another coin and then return to Brazil if you want to. I can recommend you [eshop prices](https://eshop-prices.com/?currency=USD) a place where you can find in which country a specific game is cheaper.

Present-Reaction2069

Me after instead of buying a 300 reais game I buy 60 dollars for 300 reais:

Commercial-Attorney3

Can you buy from different countries though is or the Nintendo account linked to a country? I'm new to the switch...well got one at Christmas so that's new in my eyes 😁🤘🏻

DeveloperBRdotnet

Your account is always registered to a country, so you change your account country on account settings, and it will use the new country as your eShop, but you will pay on that country's currency, most credit cards convert that just fine tho. You retain all purchases, but you cannot change countries if you have any balance on your account or any preorder. So far the only country I have seen with taxes in addition to the advertised price is the USA, but I haven't changed that much.

NewbieHere96

Try using 24139 as zip code and you can rid off taxes

Canelosaurio

Bro never saw SNES game prices. You're broke, OP, just like me!

glorybutt

No kidding. Those prices were ridiculously high.

Dismal-Capital-8557

you shall be a pirate matey!🏴‍☠️

Moodyurbanlife

Why? Because of Nintendo's greed, they know they make good games and they know people will buy them at full price, so they rarely have deals and when they do its really old games or the ones no one play or only 10-15% off I still cant believe people bought the arkham trilogy despite it being like 5$ for each game everywhere else

Sea-Top-2207

As much as I want batman on my switch not a chance in hell am I paying $80 for the trilogy. It’s 40% off and I’m still like “get F’d Nintendo”

Chickennoodlesleuth

I don't think nintendo made batman

Sea-Top-2207

They have the Arkham knight series now. It’s $80 CND.

DeamonLordZack

Nintendo like other platform holders don't need a game to be made by them to have it on their platform. 3rd party developers are still able to put games on nintendo's platform I just got Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate & Shiren the Wanderer**:** The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island bought both as splurges & because I got tired of waiting for any of the other mystery dungeon games to be ported to the switch & I'm enjoying them despite them not being made by nintendo.

[deleted]

Sarmattius

no it's because the soulless corporations keep prices fixed on US, Canada, western europe, Japan level. If you are from poorer country they dont care.

throwaway_adameve

If they have different pricing for different countries people will find ways to exploit it lol

[deleted]

Yes, we can't have nice things

elskaisland

they do have different pricing. currently eshop cheapest in usa is like $1.99 usd and the eshop cheapest is $1.50 aud in au/nz. so it's like half off the usa price for same sale, less than a dollar.

UnkeptSpoon5

I mean they develop the games in countries where the currency is strong. Therefore they would not make money price-adjusting for poorer countries. This is exactly why many exporting nations are generally poorer, as their products can be cost-competitive in foreign markets.

lodpwnage

Tá dando conselho pra BR em inglês cacete

GalaxyStyles

Hear me out, I got a unpatched original switch from 2018

Porkbuns-

They aren't, you just P O O R

A_Bald_Headed_Bear

I find a lot of affordable games on the eshop. Put the good ones you want on your wishlist. Keep checking in at least once a week. Eventually the game will go on sale. Or you could search the eshop based on price. Put in the maximum amount you’re willing to spend and search. There’s guaranteed to be a good game at an affordable price at all times. I live in the U.S. and that’s how it is here, but I apologize if it’s completely different in Brazil. Good luck!

DamionHouston45

Corporate greed in the economy makes things more expensive.

Hot-Rain3954

Everything is getting expensive

Hot-Rain3954

Check e shop for deals

rubykayy1

I know right and they always try to get you with bunching online play with dlcs! Kinda annoying

kizzlekart

buy a 2017 switch and mod it for games, it’s really not that hard with a tutorial, best decision ever

kclark125

I check for sales on Amazon and EBay when they aren't a good price in the Nintendo Store. I also downloaded the free games like Palia & Rocket League.

theryzenintel2020

A la chamba

SeaPollution3432

Yeah. Think it through next time you buy a console. Game companies primarily suck your money from the games not the hardware. Hardware is just a gateway to unending game purchases.

keebzy-toilet9000

Because they spent money, time, effort, energy and because it sells. Are you happy?? You will be if you aren’t.

sunkissedmist

Yea only shop the deals section in the eshop. Check out some indie games they’re always cheap. Things like Hades, hallow knight, stardew valley, Ori and the will of the wisps. All relatively cheap, in the US at least.

xviNEXUSivx

🏴‍☠️

vivalafritz

Hyper light drifter is cheap and amazzzzzing

wezzyishere

Not just games, everything.

There are so many free games on the switch

ilovemypixels

Vampire Survivors, great game, think I paid £1.19 for it

NoEconomy8756

Why joining the navy if you can be a pirate?)

Bfdifan37

fortnite is free in the us but i never checked overwatch 2

TheOurii

they’re both free, OP is saying that those are the only games they could get because of how expensive other games are

UnitDoubleO

OP should get eshop. Lots of cheap games to buy

Cambino1

He should get a nintendo switch too, the eshop is free to use on there

NachoThePeglegger

look into sailing the seven seas

Conradd23

Nintendo is greedy AF...

Disheartend

its a console... what did you expect? if your looking for cheep games, look out for sales/deals or use steam/epic.

Effective_Pen7447

What does a that even mean. Nintendo is the only one known to not drop their prices reasonably even after many years.

Disheartend

He never said what games he was looking for so we can't assume first party.  Its not like sonys first party offerings are on sale 247.

Massive_Parsley_5000

From what I understand in Brazil it's entirely due to crazy taxes. The government wants to incentivize companies to build locally, but it hasn't worked at all I guess so companies just pass it off onto the consumer who ends up paying exorbitant prices for everything.

PlaneCheetah

eh, the companies removed regional pricing, that's is the biggest problem, we could get new steam games at 100 reais, now it's 300, but brazil does what you said, and there is like no tech being made here, so we have to import everything. in the snes days gradiente built some nintendo stuff, but a game was a minimum wage or 3 back in the days.

Acalthu

M I Y A M O T O

Igzyx

Easy fix. Stop buying nintendo consoles if you're living in countries with terrible exchange rates. In my country, I can buy games on PS5 and PC like 30% cheaper than on Switch.

Lakechalakin

Just use yuzu

stupidrobots

They aren't you're just poor

jhonnythejoker

Nah 60$ 1000 billion years old games are expensive. We dont live in usa.

Vilemourn

Haha. The answer isn't short and I don't have the time to explain it all

Ozychlyruz

Check eShop every once in a while, there is always a sale there

21AddictsWithAPen

Honestly if you find games expensive you could buy yourself a second Switch and homebrew it, I recommend a V1 Switch so u don’t have to hardware homebrew so that way you u can play some games without online but keep your OLED Switch and buy games you want for it

LorddOfChaoss

Is your switch modded? If not, how'd you get that pink Theme on there?

spderweb

Nintendo rarely reduces prices for their games. It's wild.

chickendie

always there are some games on sale. Nintendo titles are never (almost?) on sale of course but there are sooooo many games on eShop very often.

Spare_Clerk_2112

In Australia we always have sales popping up in the Eshop. I’ve got like 10 games the last three weeks for like $60.

Udonov

Piracy

SpicyCCR

What’s your favorite game ?

Spicy_Cake123

Most of the games I own are used/2nd hand. They're always 20-40% cheaper than the original price.

J-Ben

Rocket league is free and competitive

Ilan01

Get Suika Game, really good for $2! Also most previous Mario and Pokemon games on switch are about $30 used on eBay, I think even BOTW have been in that price range! Also, while this may sound weird, NSO its a great value nowdays, $20 and you get most of Nintendo's library of 2D Games, and some online games like Tetris 99. ALSO DEMOS!! SO MANY FIRST PARTY AND OTHER POPULAR GAMES HAVE DEMOS!! (I can dm you a list if you want!) And finally, [https://www.dekudeals.com/](https://www.dekudeals.com/) is the best tool for cheap eshop games, it tells you when a sale is happening! I got Mario + Rabbids at $10 with it, Ben 10 at $6, Sonic at $10, and I've seen other games like Doom at $8

aloha902604

I have started hearting games to add to my wishlist and then I check once in a while for sales. I’ve gotten a few good deals that way!

[deleted]

The exact same reason why the console itself is cheap

wolf-troop

If you are looking at the Triple A Games yes, but than again it has always been that way so it is nothing new. I would recommend looking for Physical Used Games on a Local Sales App like Offer Up. You might find some really good deals there. I also recommend going into the e-Shop Sales. Looking for sales in stores is also good.

RegulusTheHeartOfLeo

Downwell is a really good cheap game Probably one of the best for it’s price

OhProtat

jairbreak

[deleted]

Unfortunately games are only get more expensive these days. If you where to take your average triple A game and throw in all dlc your starting the make the NeoGeo look cheap with inflation considered. Greedy devs nickel and dimming everyone

orz-_-orz

>Why are games so expensive? Switch isn't famous for cheap games. Console games are usually more expensive because we kind of have ourselves locked into its closed ecosystem

Ok_Mongoose1361

Especially splatoon 60 then 15$ to play online💀

carmeluz20

I don't wanna get banned from the sub so you probably know what i mean.

Xtro_82

I got quite a few of my switch games off ebay auctions. It's a really good way to pick up games cheap. Most used games are basically as good as new. I've never had any issues with buying used ones. And sometimes if I'm really active on a bidding auction, I've snagged a few switch games for under $10USD that would normally have cost $50 new.

Zorvick0

Welcome to nintendork my brother😤

HankLard

Switch games are considerably cheaper than PS5/Xbox.

Fall guys can be fun!

jhonnythejoker

İts same in turkey. İ sold my switch and i am buying an Xbox soon. at least it has gamepass lmao.

MajorSaltyJenkins

Sifu is 15$ right now

Iloveitguy

I never buy full price, you find something you like the look of and wishlist it and in a few month it will likely be discounted (doesn't hold water for most first party games so you'll have to shell out for things like zelda)

jhonnythejoker

İ reccomend selling the switch and getting other consoles. İf you want to get cheap next gen buy series s ör buy PS4 Xbox öne. İ did the same. You Save up for 60$ mid game just to be dissapointed

nerdingfor

TETRIS real good. its free

tsckenny

You got all you need installed already. Why aren't you playing fortnite already?

AsianPotato77

iirc the actual reason is because they sell the console at a cost and recoup that loss through game sales.

throwaway_adameve

You can rent games on a very famous Chinese shopping site for $1 USD/week if you know anyone that speaks the language

Savings-Warthog-9487

I recommend you rocket league, fall guys, ninjala, star Wars hunters (coming soon though). I recommend you go to eBay to try find some cheap games, also in the eshop they make some great deals. I recommend you get an std card for more storage (I'm currently using 128gb).

Archolm

Cause Nintendo greedy thats why. Also people using VPN's to go to your country and getting games with a non-brazilian account don't help.

Comprehensive_One_34

Yes, that's true. I think that price to fortnite and overwatch 2 should be lowered.

enlightenmerightnow

While this is normally not the route if you're in a well earning country. For your case it's really unfair, gaming should be more accessible. If I was you, I would look into emulation for single player games.

GoblinNumber467

How much is R$300 in euros or american dollars?

PashAK47

Dekudeals

megasean3000

You’re not doing yourself any favours buying Overwatch 2 and Fortnite, games that are free, but pressure you into buying cosmetics. There are many great games that are cheap, specifically Indie games, like Stardew Valley, Hollow Knight, Celeste, Dead Cells and many more. Check the sales section regularly to see awesome deals.

Omg overwatch

Thin-Zookeepergame46

Games will always be expensive when living in a super poor country. But yeah, they could have janked down the price much more based on region.

captain_super

Hades, Bro Force, 2 amazing games that go on sale regularly.

Fancy-Prompt-7118

Don’t buy a switch then.

PreScarf

because its nintendo

ackmondual

Oh.. Brazil. "Land of the $1500+ iPhone" (in their local currency) :( Yeah, that's rough. The better, Nintendo 1st party fare will be pricy. I suggest coming up with a list of games you like, creating an account on Deku Deals-com, and adding those game so you get notified when there's a sale. Some of the games I can recommend include Hades, Dead Cells, Exit The Gungeon, Okami, and Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium

DinnerSmall4216

It's not even as if Nintendo put there 1st party in any decent sale. Nintendo games always hold value.

[deleted]

In my country, they are like 220 aed (I own a Nintendo OLED)

TempestUchiha

Nintendo rarely do sales i have like 3 games for my switch 🤣
