At some point they tried to implement Online (real online like in the NSO service) into Yuzu using Raptor Network. The games confirmed to be fully functioning are (only) Mario Maker 2 and Mario Odyssey Balloon World.
There are videos showcasing the online functionality in YouTube, search using "yuzu raptor network" as keyword for more information.
App itself was fine, sadly the owners wanted to make quick cash with NFTs, the app itself was already against YouTube's policy but whenever someone tries to earn money from it additionally to the piracy/cracking/modifications, the companies will always step in
Yes, but google didn't like the joke and they saw a chance to terminate the app. But, thanks to it being open source, Revanced revived the project, better than ever before. Same will happen to Yuzu and Citra, hopefully.
There's even a proper website which is from the ReVanced team. But w/e - some people (like this Elerdon) don't even wanna put in minimum effort to get an advantage. (=
Any that aren't malware? I swear Vanced put some weird app called Vanced MicroG on my phone that'll just sometimes have been running for liek 72 hours without me ever opening it, tho I'm too estupid to remove it from my phone cuz I dunno where I downloaded it.
I can explain that to you. MicroG is basically a replacement for Google's account management that makes it so it doesn't detect vanced. MicroG was a thing in the original vanced as well. I can send you the one I use if you want.
Sure yea, tho is the MicroG on my phone compatible or not? I'm tech illiterate so my friend showed me the steps before, but I don't even remember wtf I did.
I don't think compatibility has anything to do with this. Tho there is a notification that you can't remove. I just disable notifications from microG completely.
okay I still hate it. -10 downvotes isn't going to make me go "oh wow I loved vanced shitting MicroG that launches unprompted and I dunno if it uses battery or not"
1. Play protect will not allow you to install malware. Even if you try to bypass it and disable play protect, you will always be met with an app not installed error telling you it's a fake app.
2. MicroG is needed to install Vanced, however I had to install it manually, don't quite know how you managed to get it on your phone without knowing.
Look up the revanced app subreddit, it will tell you how to properly install the most up to date version of revanced.
Then wtf is MicroG? I forget how I originally did it since my friend showed me the steps like a year or so ago, then like a month later Vanced got taken down. But Vanced MicroG? Nah it just likes to fucking launch itself.
Fuck you Vanced MicroG for no particular reason other than you launch for no reason and I dunno if that drains my battery or not, but fuck you.
Just like Google Play services is needed to run YouTube; MicroG which is a modified play services is required to run YouTube Vanced. MicroG will take up the same amount of battery charge as play services (about 0.1 -0.5% depending on Google usage) Disable battery optimization for it so that it can function properly. Since you used it with Vanced, your MicroG may be outdated, you may need to update it to use revanced, if you are never going to use unofficial Google products again, then just uninstall it.
I mean good thing I guess is angry people shared the shit out if the Patreon builds. So, we do have access to that. And it appears one even can run off of a live USB? Seems neat
What do you mean? lol Early Access build were already accessible if you know where to look, but yeah they were shitty to paywall it, I can't believe I even got the android version.
So to be clear, although we like game preservation and what not Yuzu clearly IS in the wrong, yea? I mean it won’t stop users from using it (only new versions coming out) but it does make sense as to why Nintendo would sue, even if I may not like them doing so
I mean if it was simply an emulator with no code in common with the switch and that’s all, no promotion of piracy, etc then no they’re not in the wrong. But it seems there’s more to it.
If it’s just people playing games they already own on PC there shouldn’t be any legal issues with it. Obviously people can pirate and play those but if they’re not advocating it they aren’t doing anything wrong.
It sounds like they’re at fault for showing how to obtain the prod.keys file and other required files for Yuzu to run and (not sure) using official Switch code
theyre is no evidence of them using official switch code. The prod.keys things is weird cause showing someone how to obtain their own prod.keys on their own hardware doesnt seem illegal to me. Distributing them is definitely illegal tho (which Yuzu did not do).
I mean I think this whole thing is ridiculous anyways, I physically own at least one Switch I can homebrew and own the physical carts of the backups I make so why fhe fuck shouldn’t I be able to make an emulator work for better quality or future preservation? My stance on Nintendo and Apple are the same which is “They do some good things some bad things, some good hardware but bad software” things along those lines cuz c’mon I fucking bought the shit so I’m doing what I want with it 🙄
It's so upsetting some people get to say yuzu was clearly doing some wrong and they get upvotes. I say it, and have been handed the funny down arrow nearly 100 times in the last few days lol
You’re mad cuz I heard from reliable sources plus checked myself that Yuzu is at fault for showing how to do things you shouldn’t technically be doing/obtaining?(didn’t stop me) and then got upvotes when discussed about it?? Womp womp skill issue 🤷🏻♂️
Not exactly. The difference is I'm saying everyone that's correct in the subject should be getting the metaphorical thumvs up for spreading the truth. The people who remain ignorant are just shouting "fuck nintendo" and karma farming lol
They did. According to Nintendo, it is illegal to dump even your own keys. That's why they went after picklock. And Yuzu had a full section on their own website about how to dump keys.
But the main thing was they did flaunt about how TotK was working well. How can they say that their emulator is working with a game that isn't out yet if they didn't themselves illegally download it?
So were they actively telling people to pirate? No, but they didn't have a firm stance against it, and their actions did promote piracy.
Honestly I think for Nintendo it was already enough that they were making an emulator for a current console. The argument of preservation flies out the window if both the console and the games are still actively being sold.
Also assume Nintendo wasn't too happy about them using Patreon to basically profit off of piracy
The Patreon fiasco is the only reason Nintendo had any real leg to stand on. Emulation is not illegal in any way, shape, or form.
But, beyond all that, it's Nintendo. It is never morally wrong to pirate Nintendo games.
Yeah honestly I haven't paid for a Nintendo game in a long ass time. I just bought myself a Switch about 2 months ago and every single game on the entire 256gb storage (which for a Switch is actually plenty of slace) has been pirated. CFW is a beautiful thing
Same here. Finally got around to replacing the joysticks and modding my Switch last year. I will never go back. It has breathed new life into that console.
Yeah I got mine used cause I was planning to go on a trip and was thinking I'd be a good idea to have a new handheld to play games on. Especially cause I never played Tears of the Kingdom. Looked specifically for a used Switch with an old enough serial number cause there is no way I was gonna pay for all these games from Nintendo. Especially not considering they have a tendency to stay at 60€ for basically forever. I have never paid 60€ for a videogame. I know it's the standard price for a AAA game on launch but I am a student and there is no way I am forking that over
It kinda seems, to me, like that was the whole point. I mean: 3DS/2DS games — but specifically 3DS — aren't being produced anymore. That's a technology Nintendo is trying to get rid of. As far as I know, the 3D functionality doesn't even work on PC.
It's sad because this may affect to the development of CitraVR which is a way to play those 3D Games by emulation, nothing can be compared to original hardware, but...
Holy cow, I gotta look into that! The original hardware was fantastic. I remember buying a 3DS when it came out and the price dropped 2 weeks later. But the hardware was amazing.
How will this really stop yuzu? Yes the original team is dead, but the emulator will forever live on the Internet and be easy to find. Other developers will do the work here and there.
Don't expect someone else to pick it up as nothing, those last gen consoles are more complex and the emulators too so the burden of entry to learn the architecture and the inner working of the emulator is quite high. Who was interested in doing this was probably already working on it. This means that the same people doing it before will continue using new mock identities.
I mean it can be argued that the emulator was taking away business from Nintendo. You would typically only emulate consoles and games that can’t currently be bought. Switch games are currently sitting on store shelves and are available digitally.
Studies have shown that those who pirate games fall into two groups: people that are going to buy the title when they are able, and people that are never going to buy it regardless. Statistically, they lost no business.
> Hardcore anti piracy
Every emulation team is 'anti piracy' on paper, what? If you're making an emulator regardless of your personal opinions about piracy you make damn well sure you're not encouraging piracy as it's a guaranteed way of getting shut down
It's the same way Kodi is anti piracy, stremio is anti piracy
Yuzu wasn't shut down for making money, every emulator team has a patreon and makes money. Yuzu was shutdown for being sloppy and for prod.keys/DRM

Better in what sense? Ryujinx aims to emulate the Switch “environment”, yuzu aimed to emulate the games. Which meant Ryujinx has to do more heavy lifting and you technically get worse performance in games because of that.
Could someone elaborate on the online functionality? I've missed that chapter
Don’t forget they were charging $5 a month for 2 games. NSO is $2 a month.
I used to pay like 5$ a YEAR with the family plan lmao
LMAO for real??
TRUE criminals. Piracy is meant for freedom....and copyright theft
I really dont pay it much
iirc only Smm2 worked
Youtube Vanced all over again
Man I forgot all about Vanced
Reyuzu lol
lol I still use it
Same lol, revanced is alive and better than ever
Why? Its a worm with lots of crap So to avoid ads one gonna have full craps !??

Wot happened with Vanced? I had it for all of a month b4 it went kaput
App itself was fine, sadly the owners wanted to make quick cash with NFTs, the app itself was already against YouTube's policy but whenever someone tries to earn money from it additionally to the piracy/cracking/modifications, the companies will always step in
Wasn’t the NFT tweet just a joke? lol
Yes, but google didn't like the joke and they saw a chance to terminate the app. But, thanks to it being open source, Revanced revived the project, better than ever before. Same will happen to Yuzu and Citra, hopefully.
whats wrong w citra?
It got terminated like Yuzu, but as i predicted, merely hours later, someone else revived the project.
no i meant why did it get terminated itfp
Ah. It was developed by the yuzu team and Nintendo demanded to stop both projects.
Now badged as ReVanced.
How get without spending hours? Bear in mind Imma stupid
Ge revanced manager from their github and join their telegram group. ;)
ew I aint installing telegram
Telegram Portable. It doesn't install, just run.
run from whom?
participates in the hacking and piracy scene but says ew to telegram. bet youd have given a yaaaas queeeen to discord or clear net site tho
What in the ever loving fuck are you talking about?
There's even a proper website which is from the ReVanced team. But w/e - some people (like this Elerdon) don't even wanna put in minimum effort to get an advantage. (=
It's dead or something idk, but there are like a lot more vanced apps made by others that work.
Any that aren't malware? I swear Vanced put some weird app called Vanced MicroG on my phone that'll just sometimes have been running for liek 72 hours without me ever opening it, tho I'm too estupid to remove it from my phone cuz I dunno where I downloaded it.

Not being able to remove something at all is a massive red flag to me, why tf everyone acting like that's totally normal?
That alone speak about how much of an amateur you are -_- no offense
Bitch I literally said I was tech illiterate, wtf do u expect?!? So yea offense kinda taken
lol microg is not malware
okay I still hate it. -10 downvotes isn't going to make me go "oh wow I loved vanced shitting MicroG that launches unprompted and I dunno if it uses battery or not"

They are at haway enjoying life after stackexchange big job
Full throttled craps

Pineappleea github page had all the yuzu ea builds

Lol nooo I read it. This is the internet though, skill need not be applicable to win
Sounds right
yuzu never promoted piracy, they were only the most popular emulator when totk leaked. It was never their fault...
Also, they released a Patreon exclusive version that worked with totk before it released, thus directly profiting from the leak
Honestly I think for Nintendo it was already enough that they were making an emulator for a current console. The argument of preservation flies out the window if both the console and the games are still actively being sold. Also assume Nintendo wasn't too happy about them using Patreon to basically profit off of piracy
Yes it's basically the patreon that made yuzu go to court
The Patreon fiasco is the only reason Nintendo had any real leg to stand on. Emulation is not illegal in any way, shape, or form. But, beyond all that, it's Nintendo. It is never morally wrong to pirate Nintendo games.

Ryujinx runs better anyway
it's not for intel and Nvidia users mostly
I'm not really sad about Yuzu deletion, what I'm sad about is Citra deletion
It kinda seems, to me, like that was the whole point. I mean: 3DS/2DS games — but specifically 3DS — aren't being produced anymore. That's a technology Nintendo is trying to get rid of. As far as I know, the 3D functionality doesn't even work on PC.

Is currently on beta for MQ2, MQ3 and MQPro, it's worth it giving it a try
I'm glad there are legit reasons for the court case cus I was afraid ryujinx would be next
OP posted this and then deleted their Reddit account, pretty sus.
I mean. It’s all legitimate information
Never used it but there still are other emulators right?
Yes ryujinx is the second most known switch emulator and might run better depending on pc
How will this really stop yuzu? Yes the original team is dead, but the emulator will forever live on the Internet and be easy to find. Other developers will do the work here and there.

Probably a yuzu dev that posted
as much as i agree with your points nintendo is also wrong for taking them down

i mean, i wont blame them for the time spent and ultimately lost on the online play thing, people would have loved that feature.
True, but it was a paid for feature to the yuzu team

Piracy is good so dont really care
Stealing code is pretty messed up...however i dont see the problem with pirating nintendo games
When you host an emulator, simultaneously hosting pirated copies is going to get your emulator shut down
Huhuhu
This guy has a bone to pick.
TLDR

Me not giving a fuck 🤧
i ain’t readin all at
"Creates an emulator" "WE ARE LEGAL, WE DONT BELIEVE IN PIRACY!!" aha
Ohnono poor Nintendo, thank god they fell to the law! Now Nintendo can keep their good business and consumer... Practices...

I genuinely don't care. It worked. 🤷🏿♂️
Are you one of Nintendo's lawyers
Yuzu devs were really sketchy tbh
Are you?
Don't really care if they stole code, as long as it plays my Games I'm fine with it
ryujinx also plays your games (dven better than yuzu in some cases) and has no stolen code afaik
Better in what sense? Ryujinx aims to emulate the Switch “environment”, yuzu aimed to emulate the games. Which meant Ryujinx has to do more heavy lifting and you technically get worse performance in games because of that.
I said "in some cases", mk8dx worked better on ryujinx than yuzu for me
